One of my roommates has a Yorkshire Terrier that I absolutely adore, much to the point where after she moved out, I considered buying a pet myself. Yet, between going to school full-time and pulling a part-time job on the side to pay bills, do I really have the luxury of being able to take in a pet and care for it and raise it?

Answer
it depends on the person-
I just graduated an adult high school program (even though I'm only 19) as a full-time student and had to work a full-time job as a housekeeper (while a full-time student) to afford my apartment, bills, food, etc...I haven't lived with my parents since I was 14 so I'm used to taking care of my self and my life...I own a 9 year old chow mix, an 11-month old kitten with anxiety problems, two hamsters, and 3 large fresh water fish tanks...my pets have more money spent on them than I spend on my rent...I only eat one meal a day and I only sleep about 3 or 4 hours a night...I have state insurance yet I haven't been to the doctor in three years BUT all of my pets (my cat, dog, and both hamsters) have check-ups every six months...the cat and the dog are each insured in case something happens that I can't afford on my own; I have a two bedroom apartment so that the cat and the dog can each have their own space, I afford a lot of things for them that I otherwise wouldn't be able to buy having dog walking jobs, babysitting pets while owners are on vacation, I get paid to train my neighbor's dog; basically little jobs on the side of my full-time job---I make it work because that's how bad I want it; you have to really want it in order to make it work...I'm applying for college to become a vet tech, and while I'm in school I probably won't have the time or the money for all of my pets, so I've been calling on the help of my friends to take the dog (and maybe the cat) in for awhile; my best friend says she'll be able to watch the dog on the weekdays while I'm in school (because I trained her cat for her and because I pay for her hamster's vet care when she can't) so really, you can have a dog, but are you willing to lose sleep in order to give your dog the one-on-one time he needs everyday to play and go for a walk and train him? are you willing to sacrifice all of your extra cash to afford food, toys, the vet? for students who support themselves, like us, having a pet is a tough choice that must be thought through very carefully: you have to be willing to give up all your free time and your free cash to do what is in the best interest of the animal-if you can't do that then don't get a pet...if you decide you can sacrifice for an animal then consider the options: you don't have to get a big animal like a dog or a cat, that requires as much attention as a baby, you can get all sorts of pets!
Fish tanks, Tree frogs, Hermit crabs, Gerbils, Rabbits...
do your research, if you're determined then yes, the right pet is out there for you...if not then do yourself and the animal a favor, don't get pet you haven't researched or can't handle
here's a link to "5 steps to choosing the right pet"
read the directions and be honest with yourself:
http://www.checchibooks.com/fivesteps.html
then after you have chosen a pet you might want, research it a little to be sure, here's a link to a wide variety of pet care sheets (to keep you open mined, scroll through the page and see the complete list of many animals, some of which might be right for you) if you see something you think you might like, click on it and read about it's life span, diet, habitat requirements, general care information:
http://www.petco.com/CareSheets/CareSheets.aspx?Nav=154
good luck and have fun!

How much rent can you profit from towers example trump tower?

Rey

One of my fathers friend haves a friend who is multi millionaire and he worth about 230 million dollars he wants to build towers for luxury hotels also commercial and residential. Towers like Trump tower also the Empire State building etc.. heard he can make annual profit of 30 million and more.

Answer
How long is a piece of string? Depending on where he builds his tower and the success of his business model, yes, he could possibly make a profit of 30 million annually. If he has no business sense and wades right in without assessing the market properly first, he could make a loss of 30 million annually. I don't own a tower of luxury apartments, but I'm guessing there's a lot more to it than finding some land, building a skyscraper and then watching the millions roll in.

A word of advice to your father's friend's friend; he might like to do more research into how much he can profit than having his friend's friend's son ask a question on Yahoo Answers.

How do Westboro Baptist Church members justify their embrace and utilization of goods and technology?

Most of us dislike their approach in preaching their beliefs. However, let's say, theoretically, that what they say in interviews and demonstrations is true. I am curious as to how they would respond to a question about their use of the latest technology (Twitter, iPhones [some have them in demonstration footage]), their clothing (name brand [Nike], other textiles produced in mass quantity in China, sunglasses clearly not hand made), other tools they use to highlight their beliefs (Photoshop, Windows) and their own personal luxuries (leather couches, new appliances, entertainment centers with surround sound and flat screen televisions). I am not being facetious, but truly interested in what the online community thinks they would justify these utilizations.

They preach that their intent is to make all aware of God's will, and that if we are not showing others the way, we are enabling 'f**s' and the destruction of our own world. BUT, if they are contributing to this 'enabling' society through purchasing and utilizing all of the means listed above, are they not, themselves, enabling the enablers?

I, most likely, similar to many of you have spent some time researching the WBC and watching interviews and no one, not even Brick Stone as far as I can tell, brings up these seemingly obvious questions. There seems to be some serious double-standards occurring here.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance...
For instance, just now I watched a clip of Brick Stone interviewing Steve Drain in February of this year, and Mr. Drain is wearing an Under Armour brand jacket. Under Armour, like most widespread, successful companies, has a non-discrimination policy. So, by purchasing these garments (and promoting them by wearing them) are they not supporting companies whose ideologies are in complete contrast to their own?

Answer
Not that I agree with WBC and how they do things, nowhere in the Bible does it forbid Christians to wear clothes that are of a brand name. The Bible basically just said to dress modestly...so whether the brand be Nike, Under Armor, etc... it's not forbidden.

As far as technology goes, the church utilizes those things to operate in today's world. Those things were created by humans to enhance life. They are not by themselves wrong, but the use of them that can be wrong. If you read the Bible, people back then were fishermen, carpenters, builders, clothing makers, shipbuilders, etc... They made stuff that helped people function in the world. "We are all sinners and come short of the glory of God" was as true then as it is now. Not every shipbuilder was a follower of Jesus, or lived a life that went along with the Gospel, but their boats were still used by the disciples to fish and travel from place to place.

Christians today are businessman, carpenters, mechanics, electricians, etc... and "We are all sinners..." still applies - christian or not. Whether or not the Christian does research or is enlightened by the brand name's company that may or may not agree or go against the policies of their church - and how they feel they should react - is between them and God. But nowhere in the Bible does it forbid the use of these things.

FYI, when you read the Bible it may seem as though it's full of conflicts, but that's because there are different "dispensations" (periods of time in English, or "ages"). The Old Testament, for example, was basically the dispensation of Law. Simply put - The people had to follow all the laws, or they were condemned. There was only one way to get out of or make right your sins, and that was to sacrifice a "clean" animal, such as a sheep. That animal's blood was put on the alter and burned. The sacrifice of the animal's blood caused God to forgive that person's sin -- but it only lasted a limited time.People had to sacrifice animals on the alter all the time to cover their since.

Today, we are in the dispensation, or age of Grace - why? Because God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for all of our sins. He is an everlasting sacrifice. His blood was shed to eternally cover all of our sins. So, we don't need to follow the law like the people in the Old Testament did. "Everything is permissible, but everything is not beneficial" according 1 Corinthians 10:23. so it is not wrong for a Christian to wear Under Armor, or use an iPhone. Now, if a Christian beat up an old lady and stole that iPhone, that's not beneficial....and is against what God would want them to do. But all they have to do is ask God's forgiveness, turn from that sin of stealing and beating up old ladies, and make things right with the old lady by apologizing....and God forgives them and restores them.

This is a simple explanation of what I'm talking about: http://www.matthiasmedia.com.au/2wtl/2wtlonline.html

Again, I am not a Fundamentalist like the WBC people. I am a Christian, but I don't agree with their practices of marching at funerals, being legalistic and downright hateful. But this particular thing that you're talking about is not wrong, so I wanted to explain why. Christians are taught to live as Christ did....loving, ministering, healing, praying for, and encouraging people - which is what I believe.

Hope this explained things.

What are some prestigious brand names of men's watches?

luxury watches brands name

luxury watches brands name image

Hannibal

Im shopping for a watch and i was wondering what brand name to buy. I want it to be an "impressive" brand name. Like Rolex. But Rolex is just too expensive. What famous prestigious brand names are out there. Like the Benz or Lexus of watches. If the style makes a difference then im looking for a stainless steel shiny watch thats big.

Ive seen a Charles Jourdan... I dont know if thats any good.

Answer
The following site has alot of mens watches in all price ranges. America is a brand oriented culture. Lots of people know names like Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot and Omega, less know of brands like IWC and Jaeger LeCoultre. I tend to buy watch brands that few people know of and I get alot of compliments on them. I've even had people with $10k watches take note and compliment watches that cost less then $1000.

If you want brand name recognition, got with Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot, or Omega. But browse through the site below, you should find lots of great prices on luxury watches as well as come across brands you never heard of.

What will be a good woman watch for Valentine day present?

saalanghae

I'm looking to buy my wife a new watch for upcoming Valentines day. She already have few luxury watches (Omega w/ diamonds, Fendy, Gucci, Rolex SS.. etc). She is in mid 30s and don't like it too flashy. I'm somewhat interested in Technomarine Ceramique watch but open for anyother recommendations. What are popular brands nowadays anyway?

Thank you in advance.

Answer
She really want another watch? Since she had already had so many of it. I found some silver bracelets are really amazing. The one named "butterfly loves flowers forever" is best to express your love to your real soul mate at that special day.

SALES: How to sell warranties effectively?

luxury watches sale discount
 on Big discount Sales promotion Fashion KIMIO Watches Quality goods alloy ...
luxury watches sale discount image

mizazn

Please offer tips! Here's mine:

1. Going through benefits such as "general wear and tear", "FREE replacement"
2. Discounting warranties to make them attractive
3. Pretending to bundle and package deals (Camera, memory card, bags AND warranty) for additional price, which I usually discount furthermore.
4. Acting surprised and intentionally "double checking" prices for warranties. For example, "oh.. hang on, this is odd.. the warranty is only another $40 for two more years. Gee, usually it's about $89, let me double check this"

Should really stop discounting warranties but how should I go about it?
I use to get a flow going and would normally be able to convince customers to pay for them, but i've lost that flow.

Answer
Having to do ANY discounting makes you a terrible sales person.

What you really ought to emphasize is perception of value.

Let me explain. With a warranty, you're selling them reassurance. What you're setting out to underline is the "fear factor" of having to send their beloved computer/camera/electronics AWAY for repair - 1 week, 10 days, A LIFETIME! From the outset, determine the use of it - business or home use. How often is it used? How long? Does their entire family use it or are they the sole user? By doing this you're building up a clear picture of how VITAL this device is to their lifestyle. Is the customer a newbie, a technophobe or a confirmed "tech junkie"? You're not prying into their world, but rather trying to see things through their eyes and gain some trust. By asking these questions, the customer is thinking "this guy's on my side, he's interested in me." It also helps open up the conversation and makes it less "salesy".

You need to watch out for and overcome objections. Some of the most popular are:

1) I can fix it myself.
2) I know a guy who can repair it.
3) I'll just toss it away and buy another one.
4) This warranty is just too costly!

Your responses should be:

1) How confident are you in your skills? Are you sure you'd be willing, or even have the luxury, to take the time and effort in trying to figure it out and risk voiding the manufacturer warranty versus sending it off to a trained technician who is guaranteed to be able to fix it?

2) Does your friend have access to FREE parts and is he willing to follow you like a nomad in case you move away in the future?

3) Why even bother when the warranty is CHEAPER? It's very unlikely that it will be completely impossible to repair, and even if it is, this warranty will entitle you to a NEW one! Would you rather buy another one at full price or get it for the price of the warranty?

4) Compare the price of parts and labor versus the price of the warranty.

Example: Tell them: "You and I both know that when stuff goes wrong, it ALWAYS at the worst time and it's always expensive. With this warranty, it's guaranteed to get repaired or replaced. A hard drive of this size for a laptop would run about 100 bucks if you bought it off the shelf. Yes, that is cheaper than the warranty, but consider that we can also replace something like the motherboard or screen. Those things typically run you about 150- 200 bucks. That's about the same price as the warranty and we still haven't talked about labor yet! I think we know that's not free and even if it's a friend who WILL do it for free, how confident are you that it will be done in a reliable and timely way? Are they available to talk to 24/7 and how long would you be able to keep pulling favors? This warranty is guaranteed for X amount of years and is good for as many repairs as you need... etc."

Also, if you reach a point where the customer is thinking about it and needs a little push, reassure the customer by asking "How can you afford NOT to get it?". This turns the tide and makes the customer try to disprove what you've just said. Of course, it's much harder to do that since they probably aren't prepared to say anything much back. They probably came into the store EXPECTING you to try to sell them over on a specific item with an endless list of product features. They didn't expect you to care about their daily life or even turn it around with a question as direct as that.

Best tanning lotion for indoor tanning with relatively fair skin?

Gracie Sun

I just started indoor tanning recently, standup booth. And I have I guess average but kind of sensitive skin. I burn kind of easily but I'm not like Snow White or anything. I just don't tan to easily. Anyway, I was wondering what kind of tanning lotion would be best for my skin and for the best overall tan and quickest effects. I tan at my gym so there's not like tanning consultants to ask. Also I don't wanna hear about how bad it is for you so save your energy. Thanks!

My Nana grew up in the swirling, romantic mists of the Irish countryside, where the landscape was rich with fast, bracing creeks and never-ending rolls of green-grass hills. In contrast to these fertile lands, her family lived by barren, meager means. With her father sent away to fight in the war, her days were spent helping her mother to cook and clean for her eight younger brothers and sisters. The rations often ran so low that the oldest boys had to raid the nearby farms, running for miles across the fields with the stolen, battered goods, carried in the fronts of their worn sweatshirts. On this impoverished Isle, my Nana learnt how Sunday's potato skins, a cup of flour, stock and stolen onions, could provide hearty, rich soup for three straight meals. From here, she fell prey to the magical art of cookery and its many delicious secrets.

When I myself was a child, many an age after my Nana had been, she hadnât lost or forgotten any of these secrets. Sunday was my Nana's day; and every week, my brother, sister and I would visit her at her house, with her green house and rows upon rows of home-made jam filled jars. Her house was modestly decorated, but the smell on unlatching the front gate matched the richest and greatest luxury royal banquet. Retired from raising her own many sons and daughters, she now spent her days in the warm, pulsing kitchen, the true heart of her family home.

The deep , instinctual knowledge, present only in children, told us that we ought not to squabble during these precious afternoons with our Nana, instead we would listen intently to her familiar voice and watch closely her agile hands as they conjured magic in the deep bowls. We all secretly wished that it was just ourselves and our nan, one on one with this quiet,mysterious lady. We wanted to be the only one to hungrily lick the spoon and to run our finger greedily around the lip of the bowl, delighting in the taste of raw, perfect cookie dough. Instead, we had to share the pleasure, and often my brother would make rude noises into the mixing bowl so that my sister and I would be too disgusted to touch the filthy boy germs and he would be left to indulge to his own content.

I was the youngest of three, and the day came very suddenly when my sister was old enough to be allowed to take my brother to the woody park around the corner. At first I was enormously jealous of the freedom which my older siblings were allowed, especially when they tumbled in giggling hours later with muddy shoes and scabbed knees, buckets overflowing with tadpole inhabited water. Whilst they experienced this freedom however, my jealousy was granted blindness as I was invited into the Aladdinâs cave that was my Nanaâs kitchen, on the magical carpet that was time spent alone with her and the tattered, ancient cookery book. We would pour over the leather-bound book, over-brimming with faded cut-outs and old recipe treasures, whispering like conspirators. Our fingers would run and bump over the stains and crumbs left on the discoloured pages until we found the treasured recipe.

Our favourite choice was little gingerbread boys and girls. My Nana is a perfectionist in the kitchen, yet she never frowned when I clumsily misplaced the raisins on the gingerbread children, personifying them with drunken, merry smiles and giddy, lop-sided eyes. She had an old-fashioned pair of scales,upon which we measured the diamond like grains of icing sugar and the golden nuggets of Demerara with individual weights, stacked precariously like rubies on the cast iron scales.

Weâd mix and fold with our hands, the golden ingredients completely compatible, somehow a creamy consistency forming out of the individual components. As the antique oven baked the treats, the kitchen would fill with mysterious wisps of smoke warming the kitchen with a sweet aroma, and upon opening the oven and peering expectantly through the smoke, we would see the miraculous transformation from this sloppy golden cream to the bright, lustrous orange of the gingerbread family.

My Nanaâs finishing touches always ensured that the end creation was perfect. My impatient fingers and tongue did a lot of the cleaning, but washing the pots, which was a chore at my own home, somehow added to the magic as the suds enveloped my young hands and the bowls would sparkle, ready for the next Sunday visit. Although I regret my Nana's poor upbringing and her losses from the never-forgotten war, at home, in her kitchen, with her wireless radio and her mother's cookery book, she has found the peace of a queen sat quietly smiling in her treasure-filled palace.

Answer
I won't correct your Britishisms, but I'll fix your grammar as best I can.

1. The word "bracing" is contrasted with "fast". Replace.
2. The word "barren" is not indicative of "means". "Barren" means "infertile", and while that can certainly be said to apply to land, it is does not apply to living conditions.
3. "Isle" does not need to be capitalized, unless referring to Ireland's informal title of The Emerald Isle, and if that is the case, the entire phrase should be used.
4. When listing items, the last item in the list should begin with an "and", e.g. "first, second, and third", even if the item itself is a compound item and already contains an "and". The list should not, however, be followed by a comma. Let me rewrite the sentence in question:

"On this impoverished isle, my Nana learnt how Sunday's potato skins, a cup of flour, [chicken] stock, and stolen onions could provide hearty, rich soup for three straight meals."

5. "From here, she fell prey to the magical art of cookery and its many delicious secrets." Unless the reader is not actually in Ireland, the story is not taking place "here"; it is taking place "there". Also, "fell prey" carries a negative connotation, as if it were something to be avoided instead of cherished.

6. "When I myself was a child, many an age after my Nana had been, she hadnât lost or forgotten any of these secrets."

"I myself" is redundant. Delete "myself".

"...after my Nana had been" Add "born."

It is considered bad style to use contractions in writing unless it is a direct quote. The transition from first-person to third-person is jarring and should not occur mid-sentence. You start off talking about yourself relative to her age, then you describe her in the same sentence; either edit the sentence or split it into two sentences.

7. "Her house was modestly decorated, but the smell on unlatching the front gate matched the richest and greatest luxury royal banquet."

"...richest and greatest luxury royal banquet." This is entirely too many words that mean the exact same thing. Trim.

8. "Retired from raising her own many sons and daughters, she now spent her days in the warm, pulsing kitchen, the true heart of her family home.".

"...she now", Unless the story is taking place in the present, and you are using the present perfect (e.g. "she now spends her days"), remove "now".

9. "The deep , instinctual knowledge, present only in children, told us that we ought not to squabble during these precious afternoons with our Nana, instead we would listen intently to her familiar voice and watch closely her agile hands as they conjured magic in the deep bowls."

There are two things in this passage, one major and one minor. The major is that this is two separate sentences that you have combined with an incorrect delimited, the comma. Replace with either a semicolon or a period and a new sentence. The minor is that I believe this is a British syntax: "...watch closely her agile hands" as opposed to "watch her agile hands closely".

10. "Whilst they experienced this freedom however, my jealousy was granted blindness as I was invited into the Aladdinâs cave that was my Nanaâs kitchen, on the magical carpet that was time spent alone with her and the tattered, ancient cookery book."

Again, this is two sentences rolled into one. Also, blindness is not a gift to be granted; rather, it is a curse to be imposed. A negative connotation on a negative thought or feeling produces a positive flow.

11. The word you are looking for is "pore", not "pour". This is a commonly confused word.

12. "My Nana [was] a perfectionist in the kitchen..." Not "is", as the story is taking place in the past tense.

13. "diamond-like"

14. "We would mix..."

15. You have used "cream" and "creamy" in the same paragraph. These are too similar, and one should be replaced.

16. This is generally a good story, but you might want to trim down a few of the excess descriptive words. There should be a balance between non-descript (e.g. "The sun was hot") and overdescriptive ("The fiery yellow ball of heat pierced the bright, cloudless sky like a temper in a forge, melting and scorching all it surveyed"). Try to come up with a happy medium ("The bright, burning sun blazed high in the clear sky, warming the air and land.")

Are people evolving into a more apathetic being?

It seems like as time goes on, people become more apathetic. This is not how I envisioned future humans to be, but tht's probably becaseu of watching Star Trek when I was young.

Answer
The world in the previous decades had more social and professional justice and sense of good overall. People could have a stable life looking forward for the future.
In today's world, people have to fight hard just to stay afloat and social and professional injustice is ubiquitous. The crooked politicians are hostile to the people who elected them and do not represent them, but instead represent the elites financial interests. People see these criminals not only go unpunished but, instead, rewarded for their criminal actions with luxury retirements and millionaire off shore accounts. These days, banks and financial institutions sell out entire countries and their population for their own profit creating widespread misery. Money is above everything. it buys everything and everyone and always has the final word. Many people don't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Injustice and low ethics, as a whole, became ubiquitous. Even as one turns on the TV, one can't almost (or not at all) see or hear about these major problems being discussed (widespread financial corruption and its toll on entire countries and societies, people's lives) above everything what one sees an obvious corrupted stupefying propaganda machine that completely ignores the "elephant in the room" and ethical values, in general, instead, promoting a numb acceptance of these injustices as an unavoidable fact of life. Movies and tv-series are completely devoid of any intellectual content that would make you think and just aim for instant gratification and relief from the ugly reality with a standardized formula of permanently fixed brain numbing content.

All these, I think, contribute to this apathetic state of mind.

What was your most embarrassing moment? A friend of mine in college once put his laundry basket on the top of ?

Q. his car and then forgot about it as he drove off. He spent an hour picking up underwear and t-shirts from where he left the parking lot.

Answer
That'd be my first overseas gig as a journalist. I was a motoring journo, and Volkswagen took us all, first class to Vienna for the launch of their new car. Insane luxury, designer gifts, food to kill for, all that stuff. They gave us a very very rich lunch, then toook us to a hisotic old building to hold their major European press conference. I was still wet behind the ears, and was feeling overwhelmed by the company of the older, more professional journos. I stuck a hand in the air during the question time and the microphone came back to me. Eyes turned to me - this was a hall full of journalists, it's inevitable. You had to announce your name and publication first, and I did, feeling drunk with the exhileration. I was young and new and about to make my debut among the big boys.
"And what's your question?" asked the CEO of Volkswagen Europe.
I opened my mouth.
Thing is...I wasn't used to such rich food, I was a poor working class Welsh boy. And as I stood there, microphone in hand, bigwigs from Volkswagen and the grandees of my profession watching, the lunch came back to me. Instead of my devastatingly intelligent question, what came leaping up my throat was the biggest burp of my entire life. The microphone took it and slammed it forward, backward, to every wall and back....It almost parted people's hair.

Then came the silence. The silence that followed in the wake of the noise, and turned my blood to ice. There was an occasional cough and the shuffling irritation of professional journalists. The question had fled from my brain in the mortification of the moment. Then

"Thank you," said the CEO sternly, and the microphone was snatched from my hand, and the moment moved on, and I had to slide slowly back to my seat...

Which brands and types of male watches are appropriate for business?

Rummy Sam

I'd like to buy my boyfriend a nice watch for Christmas. While I'm primarily looking for something he could use at the office (he works in a major personal wealth financial firm), it would be nice if the watch was a bit versatile as to be appropriate in casual situations as well. But this watch will be primarily used for work, where it's paramount that the watch be fashionable and appropriate. I'm looking to spend no more than $350.

I need to know:
1. Which types of watches are appropriate for businessmen, and would work well in casual settings too? (leather bands? metal bands? thick or thin? Chronograph? etc.)
2. Which brands are considered business appropriate? (Armani? CK? Hugo Boss? Lacoste? D&G?)

I'm a bit partial to some of these below, are any of these appropriate?

I need as detailed a response as possible as I know almost nothing about watches or finance culture. Thanks a bunch!

Answer
If your boyfriend is an I-Banker or works with clients at any time during his work day, I would recommend sticking to actual watchmakers. To explain, while these watches look nice and look good, they are what are called "fashion watches." These watches are only designed and then licensed by Armani, Burberry etc... (And fun fact.. FOSSIL actually makes most of the watches you listed... basically those Burberry, Armani, Michael Kors watches are fancy looking Fossil watches (see wiki link below).

Examples of luxury watchmakers are your Rolexes, Omegas, Tag Heuers, IWC, etc... and the list goes on... a Patek Philippe chronograph will set you back $150,000 to put it in perspective. But seriously, few of us have the means to even drop a $1000 for a watch. While I imagine some of your boyfriend's clients may be sporting car-priced timepieces on their wrists, there are definitely quality watches in the $350 range.

For the price range you gave, I would look into Citizen, Seiko and Tissot. These are excellent watchmakers and their watches are extremely reliable and well made. The Citizen Eco-Drive for instance is one of the best quartz watches on the market. When investing in a quality watch or product in general, a good thing to look for is a company that specializes in doing what they do. I would leave Hugo Boss to men's suiting rather than fine watches.

Stick with a stainless steel face and a brown strap. This is timeless and can be dressed up or down. Black leather strap watches (while black 'goes' with everythings) can look too dressy. Stick with a watch face between 38mm - 42mm. (see the Tissot link below)

Hope this helps!

Dont you ppl think America could change the world but end up wasting money?

TP9

I'm sorry this is long but please read

Hello I love living in America it's probably the best place to live in the world but everyday I see people wasting money for no reason. If I was a celebrity like lebron james,tom hanks or tiger woods. I would be donating more than 50% of income (I swear on my life). All I need is a 1million. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with a little luxury. When I watch T.V. I see all these bad shows and movies and think the money used to make this film could have been used to help kids in Africa or something. I hate how celebrities donate some money to kids in a kind of ghetto neighborhood and make sure it's on T.V. Those kids don't even need that stuff and their neighborhood is just considered ghetto because the rest of America looks great. I also hate how people say their from the streets and say yeah I'm from New york,compton,detroit,chicago,miami. Try living in South Africa,Russia,Pakistan or even central America. You aint even seen ghetto yet. If you get kids from those 3rd world countries and put them in American ghettos, they will think there in heaven. Don't get me wrong America is a great country. It's clean,organized and practically anyone can make it here. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the government. This message is for the ignorant Americans that worry if their car,body or clothes look good. Stop being selfish and start donating. I'm not saying I'm perfect and maybe i am being a little hypocritical. I donated 25$ to world vision about a while ago. It wasn't a lot but it made me feel better. I suggest you do the same. Maybe I'm wrong what do you think?

Also I hate when celebrities give other celebrities gifts they dont need. I heard Adam Sandler gave the co stars from grown ups like brand new cars. Rappers waste like 100,000 dollars on jewelry and stuff. In America we got hot dog eating contests and stuff while ppl overseas are dying of starvation. Have you seen the show MTV cribs, sometimes it makes me so sick

Like i said before America is a great country but ppl here are spoiled. I donate every once in a while. Islamic relief, goodgoes.org or unicef are all great places to donate. Im not saying im a saint but atleast I help a little and im not even rich.

Their are some good celebrites who make their donations private like Brad Pitt,Steve Nash,Angelina Jolie,Dikembe Mutombo and Manute Bol

Read Manuto Bol's wiki under Activism and Life After Basketball. May Allah(swt) bless them all

Answer
Salam,

Nothing confuses me more than Earth and its people. People are very selfish creatures, just because your family is well taking care of doesn't mean your job is done! We must lend our hands to help those outside our family. We may be eating and sleeping well at night but who says your neighbor is? To turn on the TV and watch shows like "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and knowing life saving money are going to waste for our own selfish needs while desperate families die off one by one due to poor living... sickens me and Im sure many others as well. America has the opportunity to do good... & they have done so... but we could do BETTER.... Paying millions to basketball players and singers just doesn't hit me the right way..... Could it really hurt if some of that money lands on the hands of those that really need it?

Regardless we could sit on the computer and complain about what actions should be taken to make positive changes.. but people will be people... a selfish will be a selfish... a cheater a cheater.... Just know if you could make a difference whether it be put a smile on 1 face.. then go for it... dont wait for others to come and help you.. they just may NOT....

But Im glad to see others realize the bull crap happening around us.... the waste of money... the poor being thrown into the shadow ... Why do we give the famous and rich more attention than the kids dying of Aids... or lack of proper nutrition? Alot needs to change.. it will come... As Allah warns us ALL.. Allah will test us with hardship... ( loss of money.... food... etc. ) to see how much trust we really have in Allah... So the rich wont always be rich and the poor wont always not eat good....

<May Allah bless us all.. and guide us to Paradise>

I need some help with my baby list.?

top luxury watch brands list image

highschool

I need a LIST of all the things I should have for my baby in 6 months. Please and thanks.

Answer
-Car seat
-Stroller
-Diapers (For my kids, Target brand holds in the leakage at night the best) Start with 1 box of Newborn size, 2-4 boxes size 1, 2-4 boxes size 2. Open just one box at a time and if baby outgrows a size, you can always exchange unopened boxes for different size and brand
-Wipes (We love Walmart brand wipes)
-Crib or Pack and Play (Basically a place for baby to sleep; a bassinet is more of a luxury because babies outgrow them pretty quickly)
-Bedding
-Onsies (start with about 6-9 newborn size, 6-9 zero to three months size, 6-9 three to six months size) You can always buy more as needed
Sleep and Play sleepers, (for my kids, I personally preferred cotton ones with zipper instead of snaps)
-Socks
-Hats (Newborns need to wear light cotton hat for the first month of their life because the head is where they lose most of the heat from)
-Cotton pants (2-4 newborn size, the rest bigger sizes) Walmart sells great pants, I think they are Faded Glory, that are cotton and skinny at the bottom, which is great, especially for a newborn baby, you can put socks over pants and layer with another set of clothes on top if it is cold, or for summer nights, these pants donât expose babyâs legs as much as regular pants do, which you donât want when it is cold
-Cotton sweater (one newborn size, the rest bigger sizes, babies do grow fast)
- Receiving Blankets (get as much as you can) I use them as towels after giving baby a bath, swaddling, diaper changing cover, etc.
- Swing
- Bathtub ( I love our Fisher Price Whale tub, both my boys fit in it from newborn, and my older son is 22 months old and he can still fit into it)
- Shampoo and Body wash
-Grooming kit (make sure it includes a thermometer)
-Nasal aspirator (Nosefrida one is by far the only aspirator that works for my boys)
-Washcloths
-Medicine kit (saline drops, gas drops, gripe water, Ibuprofen, etc)
-Humidifier of Vaporizer ( I personally prefer Vaporizer when my kids are sick it seems to help better)
-Breastfeeding pillow (Like Boppy, can also be used to prop baby up, or during tummy time)
-Nipple cream
- Double electric breast pump
-Bottles (On occasions like when someone else will be watching the baby, you want to pump and give baby bottle)
- Formula (If formula feeding)
-Bottle drying rack
-Formula Dispenser (If formula feeding)
-Diaper Bag (although a big purse with lots of pockets and compartments will do)
- Diaper scented trash bags (great to keep stink at bay, as well as when you are out and there is no trash can)
-Toys
-Play mat
-For later : High chair, jumperoo or exersaucer)

Rolex or Hublot watch?

Yonkers

Which watch do you think is more class/stylish/expensive and just well better? Which do you prefer and why?

Answer
Some answers here are too subjective and give no reasons for their choices. Let's look at these two brands as objectively as possible by comparing some data about them that I find in my many watch magazines and almanacs. You can then have some basis for forming your own opinion.
HISTORY
Hans Wilsdorf began making watches in 1905. In 1908, he began using the name Rolex on his watches. The derivation of that name is uncertain.
Carlo Crocco founded Hublot in 1980. "Hublot" is French for "porthole" that the bezel resembles with its screws. Jean-Claude Biver who revived Blancpain in 1982 moved to Hublot in 2004 to become CEO.
EMPLOYEES & PRODUCTION
Rolex has over 2000 workers who produce almost 1,000,000 watches each year lately.
Hublot has about 150 workers who make 24,000 watches annually.
COLLECTIONS
Rolex offers mainly "Oyster Perpetual" automatic water-resistant sports watches and some "Cellini" dress watches.
Hublot offers "Classic", "Big Bang" and "King" lines.
MONEY SPENT ON ADS IN THE USA IN 2007
Rolex spent much more than any other company, i.e. $47,100,000. Breitling was a not so close second with $27,070,000. Hublot was 18th with $5,280,000 spent.
BASIC SPORTS WATCHES
$6300Sb, $9950S&Rb Rolex "O.P. Datejust" 4fa
$6900S, $10,900S&R Hublot "Classic Fusion" 4fa
DEEP DIVING WATCHES
$10,650Sb Rolex "O.P. Sea Dweller Deep Sea" 4fa 3900 meter diver
$19,000T Hublot "King Power Diver" 4fa 4000 meter diver
GOLD CHRONOGRAPHS
$27,650R Rolex "O.P. Cosmograph Daytona" 3fa-C (also $34,700Rb)
$27,900R Hublot "Classic Fusion Chrono" 4fa-C
MOST COMPLICATED MODELS
$27,650R Rolex "O.P. Cosmograph Daytona" 3fa-C (listed under Chronographs)
$375,000R&CF Hublot "King Power" 3fm-MR-T-C
SECOND MOST COMPLICATED MODELS
$25,150S&Rb Rolex "O.P. Yacht-Master II" 3fa with yacht regatta countdown
$195,000Z Hublot "King Power" 3fm-T-C
Well, what do you think? I say that Rolex is "hyped". Everyone hears about about it, since it spends far more money on ads than any other brand. It's not the costliest nor the best brand. My Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin dress watches cost over 3.5 times as much as a comparable Rolex, and they're worth it. The production figures show Rolex is mass-produced with each employee making 500 watches per year. Each Hublot employee produces 160 watches per year and thus works 3.125 times as long on each watch. Patek and Vacheron spend even more time on each watch. Rolex is hardly a major brand when it makes no watch more complicated than a chronograph. The most complicated wriswatch of all is Franck Muller's "Aeternitas Mega 4" -GS-MR-T-PC-CR with 1483 parts that costs $2,666,700P in 2012. I have written five editions of a book about "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS". Rolex places 46th costliest in 2012. It seems that Rolex is vastly over-rated. The top watch aficianados aren't impressed by it. I bought two Rolexes soon after I graduated from college, but now, I wear Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Cartier, IWC, Patek and Vacheron more often.
EDIT: Hasan is wrong to say Rolex is the best watch. It's good but not great. I own two Rolexes, but some of my other watches I've listed are better by far. A Jeager-LeCoultre "Master" sports watch is severely tested for 1000 hours while 1.4 Rolexes are made each day. Rolex is what I consider a bottom line Luxury Brand, since it's so much cheaper than the costliest brands. Lee Cameron a San Francisco watch repairman I know well likes Omega better than Rolex. Repairman Rolf Klotz from Germany also likes Omega very well.

I currently own a Tag Heuer watch that was about 2000 and has a rubber strap. I'm looking for a watch that would be good to wear with a suit and in a corporate/office setting. Would a steel band be acceptable or should I go with leather? And I liked some breitlings, but didn't know what other people would recommend. I'd like to keep the price under 5,000. Thanks

Answer
You should check out a watch review website like http://watchesandreviews.com to get some ideas. There are so many brands, not many people realize just how many options are out there. Some good bang for the buck watches using Swiss automatic movements that you might want to consider are: Oris, Mido, Hamilton, Omega, Longines, and Ball.

Where to buy fake luxury watches in Bangkok?

Curious Ca

I know that they will be available all over Bangkok, however I would be interested to hear from somebody who has personal experience in buying fake watches, and who could guide me to a seller/stall/shop that sells really top quality fakes.

Answer
Go to the Patpong evening market and you will get any type of watch you can imagine, I have brought them back for friends before and found that 50% worked perfectly the others though worked, had their faults.

MBK shopping centre has stalls that seem to have a better prepared fake, which cost a bit more but look and work well, where else can you get a great looking Patek Phillipe for under £30.

What should a woman take into account financially when wanting to become a stay at home mother?

cheap luxury watches for women image

If a woman wants to leave work and stay home there are a lot of financial things to take into account. The woman may make a salary, but pay for eating out more, professional clothing, child care.....what else financially would a woman have to take into account when deciding on whether or not to stay home. Have you transitioned to staying home? Where do you find you actually save money because you are home? What were some of the hidden financial costs of working?

Answer
I recently went from working full-time outside of the home to staying home with our almost 3 y.o son. Like everything else in life, it has its good and bad points.

You will probably save money by eating at home and shopping smarter. Pre-SAHM, I'd never have bothered clipping coupons - who had the time? These behaviors extend to larger purchases as well (I shopped around for a great price on our new garage door opener, for example), so it can add up.

If you wore business or business casual clothes to work, then there may be some slight savings. My experience was that I actually had to buy jeans, tees and sneakers - I only owned a few things for the weekends, not enough for the daily grind.

Commuting costs may decrease, too. My husband now hops the train, and my son and I walk nearly everywhere. This had made a big savings, and if it means we don't replace our car for an extra year or two, then that's some major bucks.

I also think that thinking about your budget simply leads to spending less money. And now that there's time to make better decisions, most of us do. I don't feel deprived if I can't have that sweater, for example, because the 15 sweaters I already have are neatly laundered and stored in the right place. Less chaos, more calm - it can't be bought! :)

There are a few areas, though, that might surprise you.

* We still pay for childcare. Now that our son is nearly 3, he needs time with other kids - more than he was getting in a once-weekly playgroup or story time at the library. Part-time nursery school can be expensive, but it's worth it.

* Now that you have time to take your kid to lessons, you might want to enroll in Gymboree or swimming ... even with a smaller kid. Some things are free or cheap, but that's not always the case. (My hockey-obsessed 3 y.o. wants ice skating lessons. Cha-ching.)

* Some women have also mentioned to me that they finally have the time to take on those projects around the house - planting a garden, painting the study - but realize that they're breaking the budget taking them on. Likewise, if you're a recreational shopper, watch out! It's an easy trap, especially when you have the time and the mall has that great kids' playspace in the center.

* When your primary role is caregiver, you'll need to budget in some bucks for luxuries - a latte, a movie, a pedicure. Taking care of yourself is important, especially when you've just taken on a 24/7 kind of job.

* Lastly, and this is the big one, you'll need to figure out how to save for retirement now that you don't have an income. In addition to looking at your monthly budget to see where you can make cuts, examine your long-term financial position. If you're not saving for retirement at all, now's the time to start. And if you're saving through automatic payroll deduction, you'll need to figure out how to replace those dollars.

How much car can I afford, and what car should I get with that budget?

Nick

Hey guys, so I'm a young professional in my mid 20s and I still have my first car that my parents bought for me after I graduated high school (An old VW Golf GTI It's not bad). I think its time for a change, as it's kind of embarassing to pick up women in it. So currently I'm making around 175k after tax per year, and around 25k in rent is coming to me as well per year, but that's not guaranteed. My total expenses are 4 k a month, sometimes less. So, what would you guys recommend? Preferrably the car would be at least capable in all weather conditions.

Answer
I answered another question kind of like this... This is the answer I gave the other person below. You don't say what your age is, so I can't recalculate the numbers, but you're a young professional â I am sure you can figure out how to work a compound interest calculator. Some other guy said 50% of your income is acceptable... which is over $80k for you. Since you shouldn't have a car loan for more than 3 years, you could buy a 40k car and invest the other 40k...

You can get a lot for 40k. Does it have to be brand new? You could get a 2 year old 5 series or a 3 or 4 year old 750xi for around 40k with AWD. A 2 or 3 year old car has already depreciated a lot in value, and as long as you get a car that is still being made (meaning the body style, etc., hasn't completely changed) no one will know it is old unless you tell them. If you buy it pre-owned from a car dealer, you can probably get an extended warranty, etc. If you don't like BMW, check out the Infiniti M37x or M56x. You can get a 1 or 2 year old one for around half of what they are selling for brand new.

As for a car being suitable for all weather conditions, if you get a car that is AWD and put snow tires on it, you will be fine. The tires are SOOOOOO important. Don't cheap out and just get "all-season" tires. You need winter tires for the winter. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2wTg0l3_wI it shows summer vs all season vs winter tires.

~~~~~~
Your car loan shouldn't be for more than 3 years... Since you're 22 now (you didn't give me your age, so i can't recalculate this), if you invested that 40k over the next three years and could average 6-8% over the next 40 years, you would have...
$442,000 â $935,000. Is that car really worth almost an extra $1,000,000? (Accounting for inflation at 2.5%/year, that comes to almost $170,000 â $353,000. So, whatever you could buy for that today, you could buy the same exact thing when you are 65.)
Also, make sure you fully fund your ROTH IRA and your 401(k) to the match (if you get a 401(K) plan through your company) before you even worry about buying a car that is well above your means. You're very young, so now is the time to invest for your retirement... You'll thank me when you are old :) BY THE WAY!!! You can get a Roth IRA even though you don't qualify for one because you make too much money. Open a non-tax-deductible traditional IRA and do ROTH conversions.
My rule of thumb is don't spend more than 10% of your monthly after-tax income on a car payment... You probably make around 120k/yr after-taxes without counting your rental income. Don't figure your rental income into what you make because at any time your tenants could simply stop paying you. 120k/yr is 10k/month. A 40k car loan with no down payment over three years is going to be around 1150-1200/month depending on the interest rate you get. I think that's perfectly acceptable to go a little over the 10% in your case because you make a larger amount of money than the average person.
Also, count on your gas bill and insurance bill going up with having a luxury car. It shouldn't really affect you too much, but it's something to consider.
Where do I buy the best luxury watches online?
amazon luxury ladies watches image
Amon Gear
I'm looking for something a little special for my girl friend. I've got some cash so I was thinking of buying her a really nice ladies luxury watch - not an el-cheapo imitation but the real deal...
I've heard of Zenith and other swiss luxury watch brands like Cartier, Omega, IWC and Rolex and just wonder if anyone knows where I can get the best discount / deals on luxury swiss watches.
Budget is 7-15k - I know - she is really spoilt - but I do really, really love her!
Hey thanks in advance everyone!
Answer
You can not because almost all of the watch sites are scams. Nearly all the answers will be SPAM that direct you to Chinese sites where they are selling fake or just stealing credit card numbers. You will have to go to a real store to not get scammed.
For example: www.bestinluxurywatches.com If you go to the link below you will see that all the information on the site is blocked. Why? Only a scam site would do that.
http://whois.domaintools.com/bestinluxurywatches.com
www.mensluxurtywatchesz.com has its info blocked as well.
http://whois.domaintools.com/mensluxurywatchesz.com
This is a legit site. It has a USA address, and contact info:
Do you think this Columbia Fleece is fake?
Red
I have a Columbia fleece from the actual store, but I found another from the thrift store and the tags are not the same. The one from the outlet is gray and blue (the tag when you unzip) but the one from the thrift store is simply white and black like the one in the link below
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Columbia-Benton-Springs-Fleece-Jacket-Full-Zip-Ladies-Med-Lg-XL-Acropora-NEW-/110999414062?pt=US_CSA_WC_Outerwear&var=&hash=item19d814a52e
I was just wondering if it was fake or not, the quality is just about the same is my original Columbia, there's no misspellings or Chinese writing and it does not look fake. If anyone can help that'd be great!
same AS*
Answer
Were they bought on eBay, Etsy, Amazon, Asos Market, street vendors, or online store? Kiosk @ the mall? NOT REAL.
Were they bought @ Certified Columbia fleece dealer like Saks, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, department stores in your city? THEY'RE REAL. Those stores don't sell fake Designer Labels or brands! Outlet stores, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Ross, etc. . . . don't sell fake merchandise, or they would have been CLOSED down. They sell the same quality products as those other bigger stores, 35-45% less, because they've been rejected by Quality Controllers. They may have a small flaw, packaging dents, scratched, or ripped, maybe the hem was off, or missing a button or belt loop . . .or who knows what they were looking for but 90% nothing wrong with them!
Where they bought @ KMart, or Target, Rite-Aid, Walgreens? Fake. Those stores sells fake products.
China, after all, is the fastest growing luxury market in the world.
I also suggest when paying for online purchases, don't use Paypal, it takes just once to be a victim. I was and it took 3 years to get my credit. Use your Credit Card, always, they can help you if any disputes. Example from YA!: "On the 10th of November we returned a watch I had bought for my husband, it was supposed to be an automatic but when it was taken off stopped after a short while. I phoned to tell then and they said to return it for a refund, I know it reached them on the 11th November as I tacked it by the post office. the promised refund has yet to come after several email all ignored and a few phone calls now all I can do is contact the credit card company. so customers beware".
AND beware of international shipping, they could add 3-25% extra fees, even if the price is cheap.
My merchant was from Texas, but the product was shipped from Hong Kong.
Other times, when you need to call Customer Service, they speak in foreign tongue and no one to translate them or JUST they don't answer calls.
BELLY DANCER WANTED. Id like to find someone who could teach me how to belly dance.?
I live in a place were well there is almost nothing to do. I want to lose weight and stay healthy while having fun. Belly dancing has always looked amazing to me but i didnt know were to even begin to look for an instructor nor do i know of any local place that has this type of dance help!!! Suggestions
Answer
Check out if anything is available in leisure centres, health clubs, community centres etc, There are often classes happening that don't get much publicity. In the UK you can sometimes get evening classes via the council, perhaps you have the same.
Directory of teachers
http://www.bellydanceclasses.net/
If all else fails, get a DVD and have a go.
Amiras 101 is highly recommended for beginners.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWhfpzAItx4
You can also read up on terms, moves, costumes etc on here
http://www.shira.net/
It helps if you buy a coin belt as the sound gives you feed back on what your hips are doing.
Something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Luxury-Velvet-Belly-Dance-Hip-Scarf-Coin-Belt-Wrap-UK-/380332439070?pt=UK_Ladies_Dancewear_LE&var=&hash=item9757fcb941
Not too cheap as the coins fall off or don't make the right noise.
You can also get online classes from top dancers but they are for more advanced dancers.
There are lots of festivals and events where may be able to take a class or a beginners workshop.
Google bellydance and your area.
Any sort of dance activity and exercise class will help you to bellydance as well. Pilates or yoga would be good, and perhaps some ballet basics, but street, hip hop, flamenco, latin would all help.
Someone told me Sweden is great; a lot of beautiful women.
Where is the perfect place to live?
Answer
If I had a chance I would certainly live in Istanbul. It has a lot of historical places, churches, palaces, museums, mosques, traditional bath, traditional food, traditional music, traditional dance, luxury and budget friendly hotels etc besides the beautiful Bosphorus and itâs cheaper than big cities of other European countries.
Umm I can't find 2007, but here is 2006
"Top5 Richest Fashion Designer
1st Luciano Benetton & family
Net Worth: $4.6 bil
One of the founders and current Chairman of Benetton Group, one of the largest fashion retailers in the world. Group also has stakes in Autostrade, Italy's largest operator and builder of toll motorways; and Autogrill, a chain of off-highway eateries. Luciano's luxurious office, decked out in 17th-century frescoes, is dubbed Sala dei Giganti (Room of the Giants), thanks to the fresco of four chiseled men whose figures run up the walls and across the curved ceiling.
2nd Giorgio Armani
Net Worth: $4.1 bil
Famed 71-year-old clothing designer not close to retirement. Too busy making deals around the globe. Recently lent Armani moniker to perfume, baby clothes, home decor, $10,000 Prive Borgo watches and hotels going up in the Middle East. 3rd Ralph Lauren
Recent moves: bought back licensing rights from Reebok to sell luxury footwear; became exclusive apparel sponsor for the U.S. Open through 2008. Owns ranch in Colorado, island retreat in Jamaica.
4th Jean-Louis Dumas & family
A direct descendant of company founder Thierry Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas is today the chairman of the Paris-based Hermhs luxury-goods company. He's running a tight ship there, with revenues risingâeven during the economic doldrums of 2002âand the stock down only moderately over the past year. A hands-on manager who has personally recruited designers to the firm, Dumas is also an active equestrian in his time off.
5th Prada, Miuccia Bianchi
The fortune: Family owns 100% of the privately held group, which posted revenues of $1.4 billion last year."
Sorry that I couldn't find 2007. Hope that helps..
can you please tell me about dupont lighters?
Robert
Answer
""""
S. T. Dupont Paris is a designer brand name and manufacturer of stylish lighters, collectible pens, handbags, and recently stylish tech gadgets using the trademark diamond-head pattern. The company has been producing luxury items since 1872 when founded by Simon Tissot Dupont. The founder of the brand, Simon Tissot-Dupont was born in Savoy in 1847. S.T. Dupont owes its initials to him.
History
Simon Tissot founded a carriage company which was destroyed in a fire in 1872. Unabashed, that same year he bought a workshop which made leather briefcases for diplomats and businessman.
In 1884, Simon Tissot Dupont became the supplier of one of the worldâs largest shops â Les Grands Magasins du Louvre â while maintaining his private clientele.
Simon Tissot Dupont handed over his company to his sons in 1919, Lucien and Andre, who, trading under the name of Les Fils de S.T. Dupont (the Sons of S.T. Dupont) relaunched the activity. The activity was focused on high quality travel cases and accessories. Highly qualified craftsmen were called upon and patents were taken out to protect industrial secrets. Two hundred and fifty workers and 17 separate traders were involved in the manufacture, such as goldsmiths, woodworkers, engravers, leather craftsmen, lacquer workers, locksmiths, etc.
S.T. Dupont transferred its workshops from rue Dieu in Paris back to the family's hometown of Faverges in Savoy in 1924.
In 1929 Lucien Tissot Dupont was invited to New York by Louis Cartier to present his travel cases in their 5th Avenue shop. On the ship going to New York he learned about the Crash and the ensuing panic on Wall Street. Upon his return to Paris, in response to the crisis, he decided to move even further upmarket and cater to clients unaffected by the Crash.
Dupont became supplier to kings, emperors, maharajahs, ambassadors, and bankers. Up to 10 exceptional travel cases are turned out of the workshops every month. The master craftsmen work with extravagant materials: crocodile skin, gold and silver, ivory, and tortoiseshell.
In 1971, ST Dupont was purchased by Gillette. The company bought 48% of its stocks.
However, the brand would not last with Gillete too long. In 1987, it was eventually sold to Dickson Concepts Ltd.
Products
Since then, Dupont has gone on to produce lighters, pens, wallets, watches, and fragrances. It currently controls 70% of the luxury lighters market. The first S.T. Dupont serially produced lighter was created in 1941, during World War II. It was made of Aluminum, as brass was used as a strategic metal restricted for war purposes only. From 1958-1963 all lighters were constructed of 18k solid gold with 3% brass. The 50-60's LIGNE 1 series was most popular and very pricey. S.T. Dupont is better known as a masculine luxury brand but it creates accessories and products also appealing to women.
Today S.T. Dupont is active in high quality luxury and jeweled lighters, writing instruments, leather goods and accessories
As of May 25, the most expensive lighter on Ebay.com, at $85,000, is the ST Dupont Prestige lighter.
What is Dolce and Gabbana?
heyyy :D
the commercial where the man and the girl are making out,and he pulls the string on her bikini top, and then they call cut. what is it? is it lotion or what?
Answer
Most of their TV commercial are about fragrance or watches and those on magazines or newspapers can be of clothing, bags, cosmetics, fragrance and watches. It is a quite new Italian luxury brand by 2 guys and its a all round fashion house with almost everything from head to toes.
The commercial which you mentioned should be about Light Blue fragrance for men if I'm not wrong.
