What can I do to get a good outdoor tan? :)?

Goldielox

I am naturally a lightskinned young lady, I would like to try to tan outdoors, is there anything at home I could use to speed up the process? I live in WA and tomorrow it will be 80 degrees. I was planning on starting tomorrow. I don't have money to spend right now so I was wondering what kind of home remedies there are to speed up tanning or help the tanning process? :)

Answer
Find a car that has a sun reflecting on YOU.

FYI: Tanning comes & go, unless you do them everyday 24/7 for the rest of your life. But in the end the only thing you'll benefit is either moles, freckles, skin tags or discolorations from sunscreens, lotions, etc. and the more you do, the more they get larger, darker & bumpier. My nephew had a membership in a tanning bed salon for a year. After it expired, he stopped, now he's as white as before he began.

Tanning, is a result for 'damaged skin' and no products can reverse you from skin cancer or damaged skin, may prevent you from pre-mature aging, but that's part of the billion dollar beauty industry.
A new study conducted by the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology has found that tanning bed exposure can be dangerous when tanners self-diagnose skin problems and use the radiation to treat skin eruptions. The study specifically found that a tanning bed user that used the radiation to treat a mild skin rash caused by an ibuprofen allergy developed a much more severe reaction called toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). When left untreated, TEN can be fatal.
Melanoma is the leading cause of death from skin disease. An estimated 76,259 new cases of skin cancer will be reported particularly among women in their 20's & 30's, and that's 6,020 more than 2011, people died from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute. Two million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the US each year, according to the EPA's Sun-Wise Program. That's more than breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer cases combine!

Or Google Catherine Zeta Jones - she's 42 with beautiful skin.
Watch The Duchess - Keira Knightly has flawless complexion - a natural beauty.
Taylor Swift is another starlet with beautiful skin, in her 20's.

I've been protecting myself from the sun since age 9, but no matter, I got Discoid Lupus. Google that one. It was like someone punched my chin and it gave a purplish mark. It took 12 years for that to fade, so now I'm using a wide brim hat or umbrella for protection. Gene Simmons & Shannon both have been seen hold an umbrella during an event. butterfly

She is married to a Taurus ( i think so... April 26th 1974) and has a son who was born on november 20th 2004?Would u like to say something about me?

Answer
You are a Libra (like me, YAY!)
With charming Libra as your star sign, the Sun shone through a masculine sign on your birthday. The Sun in astrology stands for your inner nature, the mark of your real character. Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, beauty and social grace, and is the seventh sign of the Zodiac. A cardinal sign, creative Libra governs partnerships, the arts, and making sense of self in relation to other. It is an air sign, so Libran people seek aesthetic pleasure, balance in relationships and a harmonious environment. And although you can always see both sides of any issue, this often leads down the slippery slope to procrastination and vacillation.

The Sun, the ruler of our inner nature, falls in Libra, the exaltation of Saturn. Your love of justice, combined with the need to be fair and even-handed contributes to that characteristic difficulty you find in making decisions quickly.

Wit and Charm
You should beware of falling for flattery, because you love to be admired, especially for your taste, charm and appreciation for excellence in the arts, including personal adornments, dress, home decor, hair styling and so on. You graciously accept praise for your achievements and will gladly give praise to others, when they deserve it (and even when they don't, should you be trying to talk them into something...)

In spite of your need to be liked, and reluctance to face confrontations, you are surprisingly strong-willed. You set out to accomplish your chosen goals and will find ways to succeed one way or another, usually by using your wit and charm. The "iron fist in a velvet glove" approach is one key to your success. If you become convinced nothing more is to be gained no matter what you do, you won't hesitate to walk away from a situation with no further explanation or thought of returning. The Balance is Libra's astrological symbol and you require balance in your life. In relationships, you invariably give back in kind what you have been given.

Pleasure in Beauty
Emotional, physical, and psychological pleasure comes to you from beauty in all its forms. Books, music, flowers, and perfume are typical delights. If your environment is less than pleasing, you can become unhappy without even realizing that your surroundings may be responsible for your despondency.

Social grace begins with good manners, extends to high level diplomacy, and ends with abhorrence of disagreeable confrontations. You promote peace and harmony, and usually opt to bypass hostile confrontations whenever some other method can be employed.

Seek the BalanceYou can exert impressive physical energy at times, but your stamina tends to run in cycles. You work hard and play hard, then collapse into inertia until nature restores the balance. Addicted to luxuries and creature comforts, your inclinations sway to the slothful, especially when the subject of physical exercise rears its ugly head. That fondness for rich food and sticky buns means you actually need proper physical exercise. Tennis, hiking, horseback riding, skating, and aerobics have some appeal, but the virtues of physical fitness may indeed fail to attract you; watch you don't turn into a couch potato.

Libra rules the kidneys, lower back, and ovaries. Lower back pain, and problems caused by too much sugar or rich food are common complaints. Librans are also subject to interminable hovering between alternatives, or inability to make firm decisions, especially under pressure, when you can be pushed by others into taking steps you later regret.

Libra's colours are ivory, pink (or rose), turquoise, and blue. A traditional birthstone for Libra is the blue sapphire, but another useful stone for you is the opal. This unique gem consists mostly of ordinary sand and water. Just as hidden water in opals cause the fire in the gem, there is more emotional content than is apparent behind the brilliant flashes of the Libran intellect. Libra rules flowers in general but particularly appropriate blooms for Libra include roses (white or pink), daisies, violets, asters and orchids.

Your husband is a Taurus
With sensual Taurus, the Bull, as your star sign, the Sun shone through an earth sign on your birthday. The Sun in astrology stands for your inner nature, the stamp of your true character. The second sign of the Zodiac, Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and desire. A fixed (strong and solid) sign, Taurus governs practicality and security. It is a feminine sign and very magnetic.

Practical, reliable Taureans are great lovers of sensual pleasures, although you do tend to be rather stubborn, possessive and conservative. Firmly anchored in the material world, you have a fine grasp of what is needed in order to lead the good life. Of course, you are capable in emergencies, where you have an instinctive understanding of what to do, but under normal circumstances, no-one can force you into anything without due time for thought and consideration.

Tactile and Sensuous
Tactile and sensuous, you have a nose for personal comfort and physical pleasure. You are nevertheless quite pragmatic, with a good appreciation for the financial values as well as any aesthetic qualities. Taurus loves nature and natural things, but due to a fondness for comfort and ease, the Bull can be quite lazy. To preserve your health, you need to take some regular exercise and control that tendency to overindulge in rich foods and the other pleasures in life.

Taureans are very strong-willed and often quite creative. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, giving success with matters to do with the public and, combined with the influence of Venus, a passionate nature endowed with a strong sense of loyalty and fidelity. You are kind and generous with friends, with whom you develop an unspoken rapport.

Love of Music
Taurus rules the throat, giving a powerful, often beautiful voice. The influence of Venus opens up a world of musical talent and appreciation, so Taureans are good singers and musicians, or at least, love music and can be a force on the business side of music.

You also like to potter around the garden, and delight in other outdoor activities: picnics, hikes, trips to botanical gardens or the zoo. You tend to be rather subdued, but you have a fine sense of humour, and enjoy your social life.

Strong and Solid
Hunky Taurus is physically strong and solidly built. Many of you favour weight lifting or other body-building routines to keep in shape and you enjoy sports requiring strength and endurance. Health issues are often focused on problems to do with the throat and neck, or by polarity with the reproductive organs, the kidneys and so on. Taurus is naturally lazy and tends to overindulge, so a good approach to health and wellbeing would include a well-planned regime of disciplined exercise and diet.

Taurus colours are brown, russet, and turquoise. The beautiful emerald, a rare variety of the mineral beryl and as costly as a diamond, is your birthstone. The emerald's rich green color is quite appropriate too, since it is the color of money, lush countryside and relaxation. Geometrically, the emerald takes the shape of a six-sided crystal and six is the number of love. Flowers for Taurus are the red rose, daisy, lily, and daffodil.

Your son is a Scorpio
Astrologically speaking, the Sun stands for your inner nature and stamps your innermost character. With slinky Scorpio as your sign, the Sun blazed in a passionate water sign in the zodiac on your birthday. Scorpio, the eighth sign of the Zodiac, is feminine, ruled by fierce Mars, the warrior planet and dark Pluto, the planet of transformation. A fixed (strong and solid) sign, Scorpio governs will and authority. Scorpio people are passionate and emotional, with very deep feelings. Although you are a loyal and dedicated friend, you are fiercely competitive, subject to fits of vindictive jealousy and can be quite manipulative in pursuit of your goals.

Symbols for Scorpio are the scorpion, a ground-dwelling killer with a poisonous sting in its tail and the eagle, a far-seeing predator soaring above petty problems into the spiritual sky. Scorpio's real involvement is not primarily based on love or even pleasure, but on the control and understanding of human emotions and the role they play in the mysterious processes of life and death. Though you may not spend your life pondering the mysteries of life and death, you are inquisitive and probing, fascinated with how things and people work. Your mental and physical powers of recuperation are remarkable â and truly evolved (eagle) Scorpios can learn to use their power to help and inspire others.

Stamina and Tenacity
Determined Scorpio can be rather stubborn and resistant to imposed changes. In many ways this is a plus, for it gives you the stamina to accomplish things in life, due to your tenacity. On the surface you may seem easy-going, congenial, and gregarious, but you are also extremely tenacious with a need to manipulate and control your situations.

Keys to your success are a strong will and the ability to get to the bottom of things. You want answers and will doggedly persist until you get them.

The fiery energy of Mars shines out when you are enthusiastic; it attracts and inspires others. Your intensity can be overwhelming, but also subtle, for your considerable energy is not aroused or employed just to have something to do â as is often the case with Aries, the other Mars-ruled personality. Unlike Aries, Scorpio is not openly combative, unless it becomes necessary. Your privacy is tightly protected, so others only get to know you up to a point. You may not show any sign of inner struggle, but when you are after something (or someone) your determination is fierce â and should you not be favoured in the outcome, you are neither a willing nor a gracious loser. Nevertheless, you are not arrogant, being genuinely interested in others and what they have to say, although you often exhibit a self-sufficiency which implies there isn't much you don't already know.

Deepest MysteriesThe transformative energy of Pluto motivates you, as you delve into the deepest mysteries of life. Whether you are trying to get to the bottom of a murder, or some heinous crime, or whether you are saving a life through your surgical skills, or pursuing a meditative magical mystery tour, you characteristically seek to uncover the truth or to transform raw materials into things of great power and beauty. Relationships are not exempt from this probing, so anyone involved with you must prepare for profound changes in themselves, their mysterious partner and the relationship itself.

Emotions govern your first reactions to every experience in life. Although instinctive emotions generate the strongest motivations for your behaviour, you are not prone to wearing your heart on your sleeve (unlike the other Water Signs, those feeling-oriented Cancerians and Pisceans). You need to dominate relationships and rarely display your true feelings, holding back something of yourself, even at your most open and communicative moments. Although you may not intentionally set out to be mysterious, you manage to appear enigmatic anyway. You hate being crossed or manipulated, and can react to such treatment with sarcasm and vengefulness.

Strong Constitution
Scorpio rules the reproductive organs and excretory system, so those with Scorpio active in their charts suffer headaches, infections and fevers, along with various illnesses to do with what used to be called the secret parts. You have, however, a strong constitution and can usually overcome your problems, many of which are of your own making, due to your clandestine activities.

Scorpio colours are red, black, midnight blue, and emerald green. Scorpio rules metallic iron and your birthstone is the topaz. Topaz, one of the hardest minerals, cannot be cut with a knife. It is yet another representation of the impenetrable Scorpio nature. Scorpio flowers include the anemone, heather, and gardenia.

The compatibility for you and your husband is:
Libra With Taurus:
Venus, the love goddess, rules both these and it does shine on the two lovebirds, that is, until one of them steps out of line. Then the feathers will fly. However there are common interests, and a meeting of the mind and body, making this a very good marital combination. As boyfriends and girlfriends these two get along well, but tend to be a tad bit possessive. This is the biggest thing to be careful of, tendencies will be there to test the limits of the relationships, probing to see what can be gotten away with.

libra and taurus - astrological compatibility rank = 7 (10 is best)

Their ruling planet Venus intrinsically joins these two signs. They appreciate beauty and the finer things of life. A large bank account will be needed for these two to appease their desire for luxury. Wealthy couples under this zodiac sign combination will have pure bliss, however poorer couples will be very unhappy. The success of this relationship will require Libra's sense of diplomacy and Taurus's patience. Libra an air sign loves to roam and Taurus an earth sign loves to sit and smell the roses. With understanding it could be a harmonic relationship.

An excellent reason why investment banking and consumer banking should be totally and forever separate.

Unless you did your homework when you bought your house during this period of time, you were most likely a victim of a shady deal. Just like the used car dealer who guarantees that the high-mileage clunker he just painted out back was previously owned by a little old lady who only drove it to church on Sundays. It didn't help that people were told that rising home prices were a sure guarantee that they could sell, and buy another palace in the same manner.

It also doesn't help that in communities like mine, the only homes that were built during the last 25 years were all luxury models, aimed at the upper middle class, and not the first-time home-buyer. But, first-time home-buyers were shown these extravagant homes, and were none the wiser.

I could feel the pressure when I was shopping for a home in 2002. After being shown 85 totally unsuitable houses, I finally did my own searching and found this one I now own: a 40 year old converted modular home on a half-acre.

First-time, or even second-time, home buyers should be required to attend several hours of homeowner counseling, but I don't see this happening soon because of the potential commission losses to those who benefit at the first step in the sales process: the real estate salesperson.

Why do we rarely see afros (the fluffy kind, not the jheri curls) in hair commercials?

Beware the

Do you think the ideal of having soft, shiny hair has a negative effect on girls who have naturally coarse hair?

Answer
Because in the real WORLD, people don't want to see something that is positive, and natural Afros the fluffy kind make one NEGATIVE. That's like eating hamburger everyday, when people could afford Filet Mignon. They don't want to show, this country is so poor, and going to the salon, is something positive that made US more luxury and because that's what OTHER COUNTRIES think of USA.

âI think hair can say a lot about how we see ourselves â if it looks like you just fell out of bed, it implies that you don't care about your appearance, which to me indicates poor self-esteem,â says Flowers. âI don't think you have to have on a full face of makeup before going out to get the mail, but a person who is going out in public should be clean and tidy. âHe didnât like the idea at all and he asked me not to do it,â King said. Soon after, she did it anyway.
After sharing her hair story on-air, King was deluged with emails from viewers, including many women who colored and some who worried she had fallen ill. âThe response was overwhelmingly positive,â King said. âThey said it was a relief for them, that they could see someone that made it OK to be gray.â

Can only one session of fake tanning help our skin to tan faster and easier?

Mar

I'm really white and I burn easily instead of tanning, although a few years ago I used to be in the sun all the time, burn a bit but it would then turn into a beautiful tan. So I was thinking that since I'm working when the sun is up and only one day off a week isn't enough, I was thinking what if I went into a tanning salon and have just one session? Will it make it easier for me to tan naturally after? Or it will just last for a while and then fade off? Also will it look like that lame orangey color that some women have? I vowed to never fake tan myself because it looks gross and I'm still having second thoughts but it's the middle of the summer, I live in a town which is a tourist resort, where everybody's tanned, all of my friends and family are already tanned and I look like milk!

Answer
No. SELF-TANNERS: "I've had many patients who think these products somehow offer UV protection or that they give them a 'base tan' so they won't burn," says Dr. Hale, a NYC M.D., dermatologist and vice chair of the Skin Cancer Foundation. "'If I have skin cancer, you'll just remove it, and I'll be OK'. But the color that self-tanners create on your skin is completely artificial. But a lot of young women use these products so they don't look pale when they go to the beach to tan." 86% of women surveyed who use self-tanners reported they'd also baked in the sun, and 36% admitted they'd also used tanning beds (a leading cause of melanoma!) at least once in the past year. Australian study confirms that sunless tanning likely did not reduce the amount of UV exposure women get.

what are some luxury watches for men?

Zyzz

i usually get nixon watches or bulova watches. what watch companies have luxury watches but still under like 700 dollars?

Answer
Luxury watches are usually considered to be costlier than $700. I recently finished writing the 5th edition of my book about "The Costliest Watch Brands". The costliest brand overall now is Richard Mille whose cheapest watch, a basic steel sports watch, costs $70,000. His costliest now is a $660,000 tourbillon. The 2nd costliest brand is Patek Philippe that begins at $25,400 for a basic steel sports watch. Costliest now is a minute repeater-tourbillon-perpetual calendar that isn't priced but probably costs nearly a million bucks. Also in the 20 Costliest Brands are Roger Dubuis, F.P. Journe, Greubel Forsey, Franck Muller (whose $2,666,700 "Aeternitas Mega 4" is the most complicated wristwatch ever made with 1483 parts), A. Lange & Sohne, Concord, Jacob & Co., Parmigiani, Harry Winston, Vacheron Constantin, Piaget, Audemars Piguet, etc.
In recent watch magazines and almanacs, I see these brands have mechanical watches priced $449 to $700: BWC-Swiss, Deep Blue, Nivrel, Stowa, Tissot and Vostok.
More common in the price range you want are quartz watches priced $349 to $700 by Alfex, Boccia, Botta, Chronotech, Citizen, Ernest Borel, ESQ, Gc, Haemmer, Issey Miyake, Links, Luminox, Movado, Ocean 7, Pierre Junod, Reactor, Sector, Seiko, Swiss Military, Tissot, Victorinix, Vuarnet, Wenger and YES.
I've owned watches by Citizen, Movado, Sector, Seiko and Tissot, and I can testify that they are good. (I also own watches by Patek Philippe [1893, 1926 and 1995 models], Vacheron Constantin [1902, 1933 and 1994 models] and Piaget [1953 and 1979 models] that are great.)
EDIT- Shiraishi and Carlos listed some brands that cost more than the $700 maximum you want!
Epos, $1350 to $2550
Omega, $4400 to $35,200
TAG Heuer, $2700 to $9500 for sure and some not priced surely cost even more
Union, $1995 to $4795

what are some italian watch brands?

Q. list all you can think of and which i would be able to buy for around $500 if possible
THANKS! :)

Answer
The most known luxury Italian brands for watches are Gucci and Bulgari.
Another good brand is Locman (despite the English name, it's Italian, from Italy).
If you like more "daring" styles, you could also look for Tonino Lamborghini,

My Super Sweet 16 just watching it today and OMG these kids are beyond spoilt lol. 28,000 on a watch?

jO

And getting a horse and a BMW which o yh remember you cant drive yet WTF lol. Buying a 28,000 watch and a 10,000 ring and saying o thats a good price lol. These kids are seriously spoilt lol i envy them lol nah im kidding i dont even think if i had that kind of money id spend 28,000 on a watch maybe 27,000 or less lol.

Nah im kidding but dont you think they spoiled do they have to pay to put there kids on TV?

Answer
I totally agree with you that these kids are so way beyond being spoiled. I think that even if you do have that much money you shouldn't be buying these ridicuolously luxurious things! I can see maybe buying them a car like a Kia or something very modest but a BMW? These kids are going to get used to everything being handed to them on a platter. What happens if the parents go broke and lose all thier money? It does happen.

I like watching the show, don't get me wrong. It is very entertaining. And I do love some of the themes they come up with, they're really cool. Sometimes though I feel embarassed for these kids though just watching them. I've seen several have temper tantrums and even cry because they didn't get everything they wanted. Spending that much on a watch for a teen let alone ANYONE is just plain stupid! I would honestly tell my parents "Look, I appreciate the gift but I'd like to donate that money to charity instead and if you guys just want to get me a little something that's cool (like a $500 ring or something)". If my parents were super rich and wanted to get me a luxury car then I'd want to at least work part-time in the summers to help pay for it so I didn't look so spoiled. That way when kids called me a "spoiled brat" then I could tell them that I do help pay for it.

I don't think the kids get paid for being on MTV reality shows. I'm sure that the "bragging rights" are probably all these kids want anyways. I hate it when the kids are like "My parents buy me whatever I want and I'm the richest kid in town" blah, blah, blah. These parents that throw these outlandish parties for their kids are just feeding into this notion that material possessions are more important than family values! I like the idea that if yoou are going to have a big 16th birtday bash if you are the kid of a millionaire than you should at least make it a charity event as well as a party (kinda like in the move "My Super Sweet 16", remember that?).

Didn't you LOVE it when they made some of these brats go to those poor, foreign countries and make them live and work with the poor natives? I hope they continue that show too. I think it is so important if you are really wealthy (or even if you are not) that you give back.

Do you believe that kids who don't watch cartoons, read comics, or play video games perform better in school?

Over 2800

Don't call them nerds. Some people can't afford these luxuries. Those of you who can, consider yourselves fortunate.

Answer
Not at all.

Too much of all of the above is no good for any kid. However, None of them is even worse. Kids who don't do at least SOME cartoons, comics or video games are likely maladjusted in some other way.

Call them Nerds if you want but any kid without at least SOME "Nerd" in him is misplaced and likely lives a Miserable life.

The first group you might think who does none of the above are Jocks. Some don't but I would bet that over 90% of those considered Jocks does at least one of the above.

My nephew is a phenomenal college football player, extremely popular and has many friends. Still, he enjoys an occasional Madden football game.

I played Football and boxed for years and I have a comic collection over 4000 strong. I'm no good at video games but I still play when I visit my nieces and nephews. I kick their butts in boxing. LOL, they own me in the rest and I STILL love an occasional cartoon, esp. any superhero cartoon.

Get Superman/Batman Public Enemy. IT's AWESOME.

Growing up, I had Nerd friends and Jock friends. I was often the link between the two. My best friends, Keith and Joe had NOTHING in common. Keith read comics and couldn't throw a ball to save his life. Joe could play every sport. I introduced Keith to sports and discovered that Joe could draw much better than I ever could. Our common ground was bike riding, which we all enjoyed.

I've known some kids who do none of the above. Unfortunately, for those few, their lives ended up in misery. Some are in jail, some are dead. It's not to say your life will turn out for the worse if you don't do some of these but SOMETHING is not normal if you're a kid and don't enjoy these activities in some way.

Advice: Be a Kid as LONG as you can. It's only a VERY SHORT part of your life. Once you pass the portal into adulthood (and age is NOT the deciding factor), there is NO turning back. You're an adult for the rest of your life.

Grow up.

But don't do it too much.

Enjoy life.

Are you willing to make a difference?

Little do you all know of Joseph Kony. He is a horrible man, and his name needs to be known.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc

Watch that video, it's about him. He is in Africa and he abducts children in Africa, turning young girls into sex slaves and boys into soldiers. He makes them kill their own parents. He's been doing this for years, and he won't stop. This isn't just a few children, it's over 30,000.

I'm 14 years old, I know I don't have the power of a celebrity or a big name who can share it with the world. But why should I have a good life? Good friends. family, food, money, luxuries, school- when there are kids in Africa suffering, going to sleep at night scared of being kidnapped or killed.

This is your chance to make a difference. Do you think you can? Spread the word of Kony 2012. Not to praise him, but to make his name famous and known so we can find him and finally put an end to this. Everyone together can change this, are you willing to help?

Answer
Read up kiddo, because what you think you know isn't true, during the 90's Kony fought among his fighters and was a visible force in the LRA.(This was when people should have paid attention). The man is getting older though and he himself must realize that his chances of ruling the region completely will never happen during his life time. During the past 10 years Kony has been building the LRA to last, killing him, arresting him, shredding his body into fine dust, none of it changes anything or the situation in region. Compare killing him to killing Binladen, Al-Qaeda was almost unscathed by the event and the LRA will react in almost the same way. There are far more important things for the West to be doing in Africa.

1) The United States alone pours billions into African aid every year, a large portion of this aid goes to the 'governments' in Africa. Immediately most countries hand out a large portions of that money to the Tribes and War Chiefs to keep them satisfied so that they may 'spend it on their people'. What actually happens is that money goes to funding mercs and fighters which keeps fueling more wars in central Africa

2) There are far worse crimes in Africa going on, in the Congo multiple Congo resistance groups are burning villages, tested unknown chemicals, and blindly gassing massive amounts of land. In Somalia Al-Shabaab is kidnapping women and children and forcing the women to give birth to more soldiers, and raising the already kidnapped children as fighters. On top of this Al-Shabaab is funding pirates, and waging holy wars in neighboring countries forcing millions to flee the horn of Africa,

3) North Africa is burning itself down at an incredible rate, governments in the North are on the verge of collapse and already countries have begun to split.

All in all, it's great that people want to go after Kony, but it may already be too late to do anything except send troops to Uganda, and that won't really solve anything. People should focus on fixing the African aid system that exists so that the masses can be educated, ignorance is what gives ALL of these brutes their power. There are far more terrorist organizations in Africa than anywhere in the world, and thousands of mercenary groups have made a killing off of all the wars, so much so that many mercenary groups have bought land in central and north African nations(Essentially they've become their own military-micronation) Africa has been burning with the glow of war since well before even your great grand parent's time because of mistakes the world has made in intervening in events they didn't fully understand. Do any of you people seriously think for even a moment now that a single candle means anything when compared to an inferno that blazes brighter than a sun?

Keep your wits about you and educate yourself, the American Education system refuses to teach about these touchy tales but that's no excuse for you to blindly take a step BACKWARDS when dealing with the problem that is the stability in Africa.

Edit: Something to note, Kony may be 'evil' but the Ugandan government is no more innocent than he. Supporting the lesser of two evils in itself is evil and wrong.

Trying to be fair but not a pushover... Child Support...?

Angel_Mom

My daughter's father was ordered to pay $250/week in support/daycare plus $10/week in arrears. Well, he received the notice at work that they will be deducting $1126/month and he freaked out. I told him to file for an appeal if he feels its unfair. I don't intend to object to a possible reduction, but he is calling me a "Money Grubber" and telling his family I "asked" for $1200 a month. He is also mad that I won't negotiate an amount with him, but the reason I had court handle it is "If we don't set the $ figure then we can't argue over $$$" but obviously that isn't working... He is trying to make me feel guilty and in some ways it is working but I also feel as though he is trying to walk all over me. I don't spend anything on myself besides a few Walmart clothes since I am 6 sizes larger since before I had my daughter. I am getting us a 2 bdrm apartment but he blows his $ and is living in a travel trailer. I have NEVER tried to fight his visitation!!! I am MORE than accomodating when he "reschedules" last minute as long as I don't have plans already I'll agree. I feel as though I am being made to be appear as the sterotypical vindictive ex, but I am trying to be anything BUT for my daughter... SOO...

Should I try to work out a $ figure with him or continue leaving the decision with the courts? AND are there any other single moms who feel that good moms get a bad rep due to the vindictive women? I am tired of being treated like this already and my daughter is only 4 months old!!!

(Before someone tells me that IS a lot... It is based on our mutual income, and I spend $1000 in daycare for an infant already.)

Answer
every dad goes through this;; they all think it's for you;; the courts have found this a reasonable amount based on the things reported to them;; you'll start to understand as you get through the next few years that this child does cost this much to raise;; don't feel guilty, he's just going thru shock right now cause clearly he doesn't realize how much it costs;; he needs to get another job if he can't make it supplting his own "luxuries";; visitation & child support also have nothing to do with ea other;; just the courts usually handle them together to sorta get all of it done so ya don't have to make other court hearings on top of ea other;; the lawyers also use ea as a satiating factor between parents;; ok, she gives you this, what are ya gonna give her & vice, versa;; it's a viscious circle,, no fun;; but if you see him getting more & more pissed about it;; get yourself a good lawyer;; you have to look out for your daughter;; & this rescheduling can get totally out of control for your daughter as she gets bigger;; trust me, I fell for all this crap & learned my way thru, take care of your daughter, take care of yourself as her mother, & let him decide what he's gonna do for himself;; he doesn't show, he doesn't show;; don't wait around for him in order to plan anything either, he will do this if he wants control;; don't let him manipulate you, again, you need to do for your daughter, not him;; don't "fight" him, just don't acknowledge his "tantrums";; if he starts up in any way, record & document all;; hopefully this guy will come to his senses & work WITH you to raise your daughter in a caring, loving environment;; but watch your trust & consideration for him until he can stabilize himself.. good luck!!

Describe a Taurus woman?

scorpus23

Answer
The Taurus woman seeks stability and security. She is not easily moved, yet is constantly moving toward greener pastures. She desires comfort, beauty, serenity, luxury, sensuality, security and loyalty. Any changes must be slow and gradual - no sudden moves or watch out for some stamping and snorting!
She has an ear for music, an eye for artistic and natural beauty.
The Taurus has no difficulty voicing her desires. The need to feel safe and secure is so pronounced that the Taurus native is often associated with money, banking, business and trade. While accumulating wealth and beautiful things may be a priority, the focus is usually on quality rather than quantity.

Taurus is always deeply devoted to the object of her desire. It is very hard to move the Taurus from her chosen path, as she has a stubborn determination, and patience over time.

whats the difference between a cheap watch and an expensive brand ie rolex, omega etc.?

yep

I have always loved buying watches but all my life i have gone with less expensive brands (quartz) I would just like to know what I am buying when I buy a more expensive brand such as omega, rolex, etc. The specs are sometimes identical. why would someone spend so much money?

Answer
Captain Obvious is correct about a few things, but not all.

For the most part, there isn't much of a difference (functionally) between a $50 quartz watch and a $2,000 quartz watch. Quite obviously, there will be a better quality product -- both in terms of aesthetics and finish as well as in terms of reliability and quality of timekeeping. Otherwise, both tell time fairly well.

However, the differences start showing when you are looking at mechanical watches that do not use Quartz, such as Automatics. These watches are mechanical marvels that can do some pretty darn interesting and complicated things. The advantage of an Automatic over a Quartz, of course, is that the good ones are built to last and you can pass it on to your next generation.

In that regard, a lot of the watches may seem the same (i.e. they tell time - duh). However, remember that with luxury watches, you are paying for it as a piece of expensive jewelry and art. The fact that it tells time is secondary.

Therefore, the difference therefore comes in *how* a watch tells time -- i.e. what mechanism (or movement) does it use, how well does it work, what else can it do, how well was it made, who made it, where was it made, what materials were used etc. In that regard, there is a world of difference in the tiers.

You've beginner luxury brands -- Raymond Weil, Longines, Stowa etc. Great watches, very reliable and use standard "movements" with excellent quality construction -- but nothing special. Not particularly expensive (less than $2,000 usually).

Then you have the mid tier brands. Within the mid tier brands, you've the lower mid tier and the higher mid tier brands.

In the lower mid tier, you have Omega, Rolex, Breitling, IWC etc -- around $2,000 - $10,000. About the same as the beginner (mostly), but slightly better quality and finish, and better brand name. In the higher mid tier brands, you get brands like Girard Perregaux, Breguet, and even IWC. Much better quality -- and you start getting into "custom" movements and "complications" that do some really amazing and cool mechanical things, and they are usually between $10,000 - $50,000. Their finish and quality tends to be rather outstanding, and they are not as commonly found.

Both the beginner and mid-tier brands are pretty reliable, and adhere to COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) standards of timekeeping accuracy, even when they don't have to. More than likely, a cheap $50 watch -- or even some of the "branded" $1,000 watch (think Armani or Guess watches) -- will fail at these standards.

Finally, then you get into the truly higher end brands -- Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemar Piguet, A. Lange & Söhne, etc. These guys make mechanical marvels, and they maintain the market by producing only a handful of truly outstanding pieces that pretty much take several top notch master watchmakers years to make their timepieces. These can go into the millions. And remember -- in this category, it's less about it being a watch and more about prestige, art, and the fact that you own one of a kind mechanical marvel.

At the end of the day, you must remember that once you leave the functional realm, watches become status symbols, and ergo Veblen goods (i.e. people buy them *because* they are expensive and elitist). You end up with "snob effect", where people want to use exclusive products, and price becomes associated with quality. Unfortunately, the side effect is the "bandwagon effect", where everyone wants to use exclusive products, and the demand for high-priced goods goes up. Consequently, the price of the already high-priced goods goes up.

If it helps, you should check out manufacturers like Parnis [1] or Sea Gull [2] -- Chinese watchmakers that make rather excellent watches comparable to lower end Swiss watch makers at a much lower price point.

Either way, watches are rather interesting, and you'd be amazed at just what's out there. Enjoy!

Note: what i am going to write won't make any sense, I will just write some random sentences that come to mind

I am not from United States of America, I live in North of Europe and I like English so much but I get into trouble when some ideas come to me and I cannot make them out in this language.
I like to watch all the baseball and football games on Sundays when the seasons are on
I like to be a trusted friend at least you give me reasons for not being

how is my english going?

I know I have to work very much on it and I should listen all the possible shows, movies and songs that I can

Thank you kindly!

Answer
You have spelling errors.

"unlike any other in a sick bay"
-- What is this suppose to mean?

.- How is not she cute?
WRONG!

- How can that be not possible?
WRONG!

- you didE quite enough to me
^ No E in DID.

- don't like interested girls who use the men as tools and just are looking for money and luxury cars, they're not my type, being interested in my money or my house doesn't work for me

DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, AT LEAST THE BEGINNING. (don't like interested girls) ?

- it fills me heart and my soul
SHOULD BE FILLS MY HEART AND MY SOUL.

- I don't like to wake up early, but my mother doesn't like to get late to the places we are supposed to be and that is understandble. I might be wrong but I am just a young boy who may has many defects in his life but is still fighting in this competitive and vicious world

1: spelled understandable wrong.
2: has should be have.

You need to watch your spelling, make sure you are using the correct vocab to help what you are describing.

Welcome.

Answer
You might want to know about: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SewingGiftsOnTime/

How well do you sew? Are you a beginner, or someone who has sewn for years but now has a new machine?

More ideas for things: http://sewing.org/ (see "free projects" in the left column)
http://sewing.about.com/od/freeprojects/u/freepatternbyskilllevel.htm
http://www.mckennalinn.com/Tote.pdf (a project I often start beginners with)

Pillowcases are good beginner projects for just about everyone on your list. You can use a nice cotton print of something they're interested in for the case or just for the band, or you can go the luxury route and use a really nice pima cotton lawn or batiste or deluxe sheet fabric (check places like Tuesday morning for good deals on sheets). Here's an idea of the range of cotton prints available: http://www.equilter.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/st_main.html?catid=7&sid=31U9Hz2Tq7eC6hH-27110465227.8d

I'd also suggest you might want to check out the book, "Hold it!" by Nancy Restuccia (the tote bag above is one of the simplest patterns in the book). There are lots of good ideas for various types of bags, tool rolls, jewelry rolls, etc. in it: http://www.worldcat.org/title/hold-it-how-to-sew-bags-totes-duffels-pouches-and-more/oclc/29565069&referer=brief_results

One of the simplest things I do in my family is that I make bags out of holiday fabrics, in various sizes -- basically just small pillowcases -- and give those as gifts. Tie a strip of tulle or a ribbon around the top of the bag and you've got a gift bag (my family seems to be allergic to actually wrapping packages). It's fun to watch the bags get used year after year.

Do wanna-be SAHM's really want to do it for the children or for their own selfish desires?

Neo

Regarding this article:
http://thewomanandthedragon.wordpress.com/2012/09/19/one-out-of-three-women-resent-their-husbands-for-not-earning-enough-money/

Here are a couple exerpts from a woman (ok, just one but does she represent more?)

âSo maybe while itâs a luxury (SAHM) I do think about, itâs not one I would want unless it was actually luxurious. I donât want to be a stay at home mom who clips coupons or plans her weekly menu to make ends meet⦠If thatâs the case, Iâd gladly go on working to avoid that fate.â

Since when is being a stay-at-home-mom meant to be a luxury job?

Answer
I believe SAHMs do so because [between her and her spouse] they've come up with this being the best for their family. There are as many different reasons to/not to, as there are personalities in people.

Personally, if I'm accustomed to taking vacations, I'd want to continue to be able to take vacations, and I don't think you'd think that was "selfish", if it were in reverse... Seriously, would you consider it selfish if he says "I want you to continue working so that I can have luxury vacations..."?

Personally, I've clipped coupons before, and it's really quite the pain to do so. You have to watch expiration dates, whether or not you have the correct item/size/amount, you have to deal with stores being out of those items [and not offering replacements or rain-checks]. I did it just as a way of saving money, not necessarily because I had to. I just found with all the time it took to cut coupons, cypher through them to see which ones are "usable", and tracking everything else that coupon clipping deals with, it was more of a waste of time, than money I was "saving".

Is there a limit on how tan some people can get?

Chelsea

I'm kind of pale and can burn easily at first if I don't wear spf, but once I get a base tan I won't really burn anymore. However, when I get that "base tan" it seems like I don't really get darker at all afterwards? Not even a sunburn or anything. So I was just curious if there is a limit on how tan a person can get?
Thanks, any answers are appreciated!

Answer
TAN OBSESSION: "When I see a woman with bronzed skin, I look at it the way you might picture the inside of a smoker's lungs," says Dr. Ellen Marmur, MD., associate professor of dermatology @ the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NYC.

~ Glamour May 2012

Tanning comes & go, unless you do them everyday 24/7. But in the end the only thing you'll benefit is either moles, freckles, skin tags or discolorations from sunscreens, lotions, etc. and the more you do, the more they get larger, darker & bumpier, even skin diseases like Bullous Pemphegoid or Discoid Lupus. Like exercising, your muscles will sag, when suddenly you stopped, same with getting a tan, they will fade.

Tanning, is a result for 'damaged skin' and no products can reverse you from skin cancer or damaged skin, may prevent you from pre-mature aging, but that's part of the billion dollar beauty industry. To get super than you will have to be tanning for @ least 60 years, George Hamilton & Tom Jones are two examples, who ARE super tan! Google them.
