Last summer, I left a bottle of baby oil outside. It's been out there since the end of last August. Will it still work for tanning even though it's been through all the harsh weather?

Answer
Oil just burns you more.

Tanning comes & go, unless you do them everyday 24/7 for the rest of your life. But in the end the only thing you'll benefit is either moles, freckles, skin tags or discolorations from sunscreens, lotions, etc. and the more you do, the more they get larger, darker & bumpier. My nephew had a membership in a tanning bed salon for a year. After it expired, he stopped, now he's as white as before he began.

Tanning, is a result for 'damaged skin' and no products can reverse you from skin cancer or damaged skin, may prevent you from pre-mature aging, but that's part of the billion dollar beauty industry.
A new study conducted by the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology has found that tanning bed exposure can be dangerous when tanners self-diagnose skin problems and use the radiation to treat skin eruptions. The study specifically found that a tanning bed user that used the radiation to treat a mild skin rash caused by an ibuprofen allergy developed a much more severe reaction called toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). When left untreated, TEN can be fatal.
Melanoma is the leading cause of death from skin disease. An estimated 76,259 new cases of skin cancer will be reported particularly among women in their 20's & 30's, and that's 6,020 more than 2011, people died from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute. Two million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the US each year, according to the EPA's Sun-Wise Program. That's more than breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer cases combine!

I've been protecting myself from the sun since age 9, but no matter, I got Discoid Lupus. Google that one. It was like someone punched my chin and it gave a purplish mark. It took 12 years for that to fade, so now I'm using a wide brim hat or umbrella for protection. Gene Simmons & Shannon both have been seen hold an umbrella during an event. They were invented before beauty products, for a reason. Google also Bullous Pemphegoid, photos, another skin disorder.

What is the best UV index to get a dark tan in?

Sarah

If i lay out in the sun for an hour if the UV index is 9-10 will i tan or burn?

Answer
Burn.

Spots or blemish can be the start of a freckle, mole, skin tag, or skin diseases like Discoid Lupus, Bullous Pemphegoid or Lentigo (Google them) or stain from lotions.

If you got burned before the age of 18, it's hard telling if they're freckles and being out in the sun could make them darker & bumpier as you continue to age.

Listen. . . . I've been protecting myself from the sun since I was 9.

1. Because I don't want to look like a farmer.
2. Because I get too hot.
3. I want to look like movie stars & models, they have blemish-free skins.
4. I don't want to look like an old prune or get moles on my neck & face like my aunts.

No matter, I still got Discoid Lupus (Google it), caused from the sun. It took 12 years for them to fade. Tried all kinds of lotions that were prescribed to me, and none of them worked. More & more now I protect myself and I take my wide brim hat everywhere I go, or use an umbrella. In Asia, they use umbrella all the time. Here in the States, people started to catch on, and I see people walking w/umbrella, they are used on the beach, and they sell patio umbrellas. It was invented for a reason and also to protect us from getting skin cancer. Gene Simmons of KISS, have moles on his face & neck, now you see him under an umbrella with Shannon, during an outdoor event. Mario Lopez won't even go out in the sun to do a photo shoot for a tanning commercial, look how good his skin looks.

Sunscreen will not protect you from getting burned.

Sunscreen will only make your moles or freckles larger, bumpier & darker, if you have them already. Not just moles, but freckles, skin tags, seborrheic keratoses, Discoid Lupus, Bullous Pemphegoid, Lentigo (Google search them) and lentigines -- nearly always non-cancerous skin lesions

Take the Skin Picture Quiz - Identify These Common Skin Conditions on MedicineNet.

Sunscreen will not protect you from skin cancer.

Sunscreen will not protect you if you have allergies, I never thought I had allergies!

Sunscreens also discolor your skin - for ever!

Sunscreen blocks Vitamin D as well.

Tanning comes & go, unless you do them everyday 24/7. But in the end the only thing you'll benefit is either moles, freckles, skin tags or discolorations from sunscreens, lotions, etc. and the more you do, the more they get larger, darker & bumpier, even skin diseases like Bullous Pemphegoid or Discoid Lupus. Like exercising, your muscles will sag, when suddenly you stopped, same with getting a tan, they will fade.

ok so if am daiting kiki from the online daiting in grand theft auto and i got her to 100% so it says on the stats it says 100% of fondness. so my question is can you ever get married to kiki? because i know she wants to since she is in love with niko but he seems to not want a serious relationship..? so does that mean niko dosent get married with any of the girls from the love match web site?

Answer
im not sure if you can marry her but this is all i could find...

[6b] Kiki Jenkins

Date Setup: Like Carmen, a date with Kiki can be set up after the "Out
of the Closet" mission through the internet cafe. Her profile name is
LawChick. Later dates can be set up by calling her between 6am - 2am.

Clothing Preference: Kiki likes the cheap clothes from the RUSSIAN shop.
As such she is a good choice for thefirst woman to date.

Vehicle Preference: Kiki prefers a good mid range nice car. Though not
as picky as Carmen, it's still good to stick to a good car. Watch out
though, while she likes Luxury cars, she isn't all that appreciative
of sportscars. A Washington or Marbella found around Algonquin do
nicely.

Venue Preference: Kiki likes both Sport activities (Bowling, Darts,
Pool) and Shows (Cabaret, Comedy). Don't bother with food or drinking
and they barely help.

Tangible Benefit: Remove Wanted Level - Kiki's benefit can remove up
to three wanted levels. This ability even works on some missions. The
ability takes a moment to kick in after calling.

Easiest Way To Date: The easiest way to boost Kiki's fondness level
is to show up in RUSSIAN SHOP clothing, a formal but nice car and then
take her to the Comedy Club in Algonquin. This will ensure her number
on the first date. Twice to the comedy club and a sports activity
should be enough to get her fondness in the high 80's or 90's.

What are some cool things to do in SF for a 20-30 yr old couple with no kids?

Q. I'm 34, my wife is 29, we don't have kids yet. We want to have a big, awesome, drunk, sloppy good time in SF when we are their this May 7 - May 13. We are already taking the obligatory Napa and Alcatraz tours, just so we can say we did it. We want to find some really nice things to do that fit our demographic. We enjoy culture, drinking, debachery and just plain old fun. Any ideas, besides the Warf?

Answer
If you can afford to splurge, see a performance of Beach Blanket Babylon musical revue with music, dance, & giant hats several feet in width--Good that you're still young enough not to die laughing. I lucked out once & saw a mini-performance at a county fair far from the city, but that's not the usual thing. Anyway, they are wonderful & it's fun.
www.beachblanketbabylon.com/what/âindex.shtml

See all the fun things to see & do at Golden Gate Park, such as the Academy of Sciences, the Japanese Tea Garden, The Conservatory of Flowers, & just unwinding (take a Frisbee & a book of Northern California plants & trees & get a map of the park online.) It's not debauchery, but it's wonderful fun. Besides, you'll probably want to break up the sight of cement sidewalks with some green grass & trees.

Personally, I love the art museums, such as the DeYoung. Years from now, you may be able to take kids on token visits, but really, you'll feel a lot more free & easy about it without any kids to get impatient with it all.

Seek out your favorite kinds of restaurant. For me, that's vegetarian, like Greens, & maybe a nice Indian one for a noon buffet & maybe something cheaper like Greek falafels at a neighborhood cafe. I only have a vague memory of such a cafe somewhere near the park & not a specific location. That's what serendipity & discovery are all about. Of course, most everyone will recommend China Town for Chinese food. You might want to browse in the shops in China Town, too, & even look for Chinese shoes or cotton bathrobes or gifts.

You might also enjoy browsing another landmark, City Lights Bookstore, for a another side of the history, namely the Beatnik & free speech era that preceded the Hippie Era. Do a search on Lawrence Ferlinghetti & Alan Ginsburg. Earlier this spring I saw an online copy of Ferlinghetti's "The Dog Walked Freely Through the Street." So, you could get a little background on this, too, if you're not already familiar with it.

Sorry, but I'm ill-informed about the drinking & debauchery. I do know that at one time, the topless bars were quite the thing, I think in North Beach. (I'm not really from the city.) I suppose that they're still there. Uh-oh. I just did a search on topless dancers (aka exotic dancers) & I see from the stories that North Beach might be the place to avoid due to riots & other brawls. There's some talk of changing things there to other focuses. (from a March 2013 story) Also, I haven't gone in for live performances like rock & roll in bars since leaving Southern California many years ago. If I were still into that & still young enough to enjoy it, I'd probably be telling you about things in another county.

If you want bargains on wines & snacks & imported food, look for a Trader Joe's, a small grocery chain with bargains on luxury foods like nuts, crackers, imported cheese, hummus dip, & other favorites. I don't know if you'll find one in the city, but you'll see them in most neighboring counties if you're out & about. That would be if you have a fridge in your hotel room & you want to have snacks or pack a lunch or if you're staying with someone & want a gift for the host & hostess. They also have the wine tables labeled with the type of food to go with each wine, very informative, I'd say. Shelf signs also call attention to award winners such as one from Kenwood Winery in Sonoma County.

You can get boxes of chocolates at Trader Joe's, too, or get chocolates from See's Candies in many shopping malls to take back to your friends back home, such as someone who's watching your house while you're gone. I was going to say that you might get chocolates from Ghirardelli Square, but a search I just now did showed that it's basically a tourist trap, with the factory not even there. It's just souvenir shops, & Wikipedia mentions a remodeling of many shops going on, with no dates given for that. It's easier to get the chocolates at a supermarket, online, or out & about on your other stops. Any of those 3 places are the tops for brands of chocolates. If you find some, better get an extra box of chocolates to eat in your hotel room, too. Now that's debauchery.

Hope this gives you some useful ideas, although as I said, I'm not from the city, but rather, a couple of hours north of there.

I'm looking to buy my wife a new watch for upcoming Valentines day. She already have few luxury watches (Omega w/ diamonds, Fendy, Gucci, Rolex SS.. etc). She is in mid 30s and don't like it too flashy. I'm somewhat interested in Technomarine Ceramique watch but open for anyother recommendations. What are popular brands nowadays anyway?

Thank you in advance.

Answer
She really want another watch? Since she had already had so many of it. I found some silver bracelets are really amazing. The one named "butterfly loves flowers forever" is best to express your love to your real soul mate at that special day.

If yes, are they still in production?

Answer
The primary bracelets for the Rolex Oyster line are named Jubilee, Oyster and the President. Rolex "dressy" watches are from their Cellini line. The third brand in the Rolex empire is the less expensive, but high quality, Tudor brand. It was started by Rolex founder, Hans Wilsdorf, in 1946. While still sold in Europe and the Far East, the Tudor line was discontinued in the United States as of 2004.
Rolex is the largest manufacturer of Swiss made certified chronometers. In 2005 more than half the annual production of COSC certified watches were Rolex.

Rolex President
The Rolex Day-Date watch is also known in America as the 'President' watch. The chairman of Rolex presented President Eisenhower with an 18kt Datejust watch, one of the companyâs most exclusive, in 1948 to celebrate the victory over the Nazis in World War II.

Rolex
Arguably the most recognized name in luxury watches, Rolex was originally called Wilsdorf & Davis. It was founded by a German national in 1908. A perfectionist, Hans Wilsdorf worked hard to improve watch standards and prove that high quality products could be produced outside Switzerland (though he received his movements from a small Swiss company

Rolex SA has three watch lines: Oyster Perpetual, Professional and Cellini. Among modern Rolex Oyster watch models here are a few from there vast watch range

â¢GMT Master II
â¢Submariner
â¢Sea Dweller
â¢Daytona Cosmograph
â¢Yacht-Master

The primary bracelets for the Rolex Oyster line are named Jubilee, Oyster and the President. Rolex "dressy" watches are from their Cellini line. While still sold in Europe and the Far East, the Tudor line was discontinued in the United States as of 2004.

The President and Super-President style Rolex was specifically designed for the addition of the âDayâ to âDay-Date.â It has been worn by World Leaders and other high-powered dignitaries. Because of its size, raw materials and sheer handsomeness, the Presidential sets you far apart from even those also wearing the Rolex name.

Originally the Rolex came either with no âDateâ or simply the numeric âDate,â known as the âDateJustâ timepiece. It was first released in 1956 and branded the âDay-Date.â The Presidential was only produced one year before the model was changed to add waterproofing. It earned the nickname of the âPresidentâ when Rolex presented one to former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, while he was president. Thus it became important for men of high style and importance to have this timepiece in their collection.

The fundamental of customizing your Rolex watch still exists with the Menâs and Ladiesâ President. It can be crafted in 18 Karat Yellow or White Gold and in Platinum. You can add stunning diamonds to your lugs, which gives the timepiece a very distinct and pointed look. You also have the choice of altering your bezel with a variety available to select from, ranging from high polished to fluted to diamond and others.

It is the most expensive line of Rolex watches and thus is viewed as the most prestigious. It has been worn by former U.S. Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Nixon and Ford. The Presidential has the elevated quality for those that wish to express their power and level of success. Those around you will see your assertiveness without you have to say nary a word simply by viewing the exquisite craftsmanship that lays on your arm.

Where do I buy the best luxury watches online?

Amon Gear

I'm looking for something a little special for my girl friend. I've got some cash so I was thinking of buying her a really nice ladies luxury watch - not an el-cheapo imitation but the real deal...

I've heard of Zenith and other swiss luxury watch brands like Cartier, Omega, IWC and Rolex and just wonder if anyone knows where I can get the best discount / deals on luxury swiss watches.

Budget is 7-15k - I know - she is really spoilt - but I do really, really love her!

Hey thanks in advance everyone!

Answer
You can not because almost all of the watch sites are scams. Nearly all the answers will be SPAM that direct you to Chinese sites where they are selling fake or just stealing credit card numbers. You will have to go to a real store to not get scammed.

For example: www.bestinluxurywatches.com If you go to the link below you will see that all the information on the site is blocked. Why? Only a scam site would do that.

http://whois.domaintools.com/bestinluxurywatches.com

www.mensluxurtywatchesz.com has its info blocked as well.

http://whois.domaintools.com/mensluxurywatchesz.com

This is a legit site. It has a USA address, and contact info:

What is the role of poverty in love relationships ...........?

RADHA

Do you think poverty kills love ............

Answer
We can be talking about different things when we discuss a complex question like your question. So, instead to going round and round in circles, I would prefer to define certain words so that subsequent discussion is more focused.

First of all, poverty must be defined.

I would define poverty as the lack of resources to provide for ourselves and our family members three meals a day, a long-term accommodation, pay for daily expenses such as public transport and utilities bills and enough savings to pay for unexpected expenses like uninsured medical bills, and repairs to things we use everyday such as TV, pots, pans and so on.

Different countries requires different amounts of monthly income. A big city like Singapore, New York and Tokyo requires at least three to four thousand US dollars to stay above the dignity level. You may need only US$100 a month in the villages and rural areas of poorer countries.

I would consider fancy clothes, branded watches, and cars as luxury items.

I would defined a love relationship as relationship between two persons that make the boring and painful areas of life sufferable.

The role of poverty is, to me, much like cancer. We can do without poverty, for poverty will start out as benign, testing the people in love. But sooner or later, poverty will become malignant.

So for someone to really love another person, it is best to involve his or her cognitive aspect. Think and plan ahead. Do not load on another stress factor when you are already struggling with present ones. For example, if the couple cannot afford a home of their own to provide privacy, it is best not to get too intimate, or have a baby.

One way to ensure that the love relationship will not decay and die, is to have the tools of self-discipline suggested by the author-psychiatrist - Scott Peck. He wrote that life is difficult or suffering. Life is difficult because life is a series of problems. The only way to get rid of these problems is to face them and to solve them or at least cope with them. We can cope or solve problems when we apply the four tools of discipline:

1. Delaying gratification

2. Accepting responsibility

3. Dedication to truth

4. Balancing

With some discipline, we'll solve some problems. With more discipline, we can solve more problems.

Therefore, if we are still struggling financially, we need to intensify the development of our marketable skills so that we will rise way above poverty into financial independence. It is too risky to let poverty impact a love relationship.

If you are not a Christian, ignore this comment below. But if you are a Christian, remember the tail end of the Lord's Prayer: Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Poverty is an evil, especially because the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer in this capitalistic world. There are not enough rich people who care enough about the poor to tweak the system so that the poor has a better chance to achieve a more comfortable life.

Okay, it's roasting out :D but I get burnt easily :( what's a good way to tan? But I have no SPF lotions in my house.. If I use olive oil and sit in sun, would I get tanned?..or any suggestions?

Answer
OIL actually makes you burn more. You've got sensitive skin. Pale skin don't get tanned, INSTEAD, they get skin diseases and aged even faster than those who are not pale. Even MJ, got skin disorder, and he's not even pale.

HOW OLD DO YOU LOOK . . . REALLY?
Blame genetics all you want, but it's really about how you've treated your skin. Dr. Michael Roizen, M.D. internist & author of the RealAge books, to quantify the effect your habits have had. The quiz is designed with a 28yrs. old in mind. Damage is cumulative, so if you're older or younger than 28, the number on the right would be slightly higher or lower.

Take your age and add the number of years listed on the right for every 'yes' answer.
1. Have you had more than 10 bad sunburns in your life? + 25 years
2. Do you have red, itchy eyes from allergies: + 25 years
3. Are you a regular smoker? + 2 years
4. Do you live in a highly polluted city? + 25 years

Now subtract the number of years on the right for every 'yes' answer.
1. Do you cleanse your skin every day? - 1.5 years
2. Do you get seven to nine hours of sleep each night - 1.5 years
3. Do you wear sunscreen regularly? - 1 year
4. Do you have dark brown skin tone? - 1 year
5. Do you regularly wear moisturizer? - 1 year

Any suggestions?

How much rent can you profit from towers example trump tower?

One of my fathers friend haves a friend who is multi millionaire and he worth about 230 million dollars he wants to build towers for luxury hotels also commercial and residential. Towers like Trump tower also the Empire State building etc.. heard he can make annual profit of 30 million and more.

Answer
How long is a piece of string? Depending on where he builds his tower and the success of his business model, yes, he could possibly make a profit of 30 million annually. If he has no business sense and wades right in without assessing the market properly first, he could make a loss of 30 million annually. I don't own a tower of luxury apartments, but I'm guessing there's a lot more to it than finding some land, building a skyscraper and then watching the millions roll in.

A word of advice to your father's friend's friend; he might like to do more research into how much he can profit than having his friend's friend's son ask a question on Yahoo Answers.

How much car can I afford, and what car should I get with that budget?

Nick

Hey guys, so I'm a young professional in my mid 20s and I still have my first car that my parents bought for me after I graduated high school (An old VW Golf GTI It's not bad). I think its time for a change, as it's kind of embarassing to pick up women in it. So currently I'm making around 175k after tax per year, and around 25k in rent is coming to me as well per year, but that's not guaranteed. My total expenses are 4 k a month, sometimes less. So, what would you guys recommend? Preferrably the car would be at least capable in all weather conditions.

Answer
I answered another question kind of like this... This is the answer I gave the other person below. You don't say what your age is, so I can't recalculate the numbers, but you're a young professional â I am sure you can figure out how to work a compound interest calculator. Some other guy said 50% of your income is acceptable... which is over $80k for you. Since you shouldn't have a car loan for more than 3 years, you could buy a 40k car and invest the other 40k...

You can get a lot for 40k. Does it have to be brand new? You could get a 2 year old 5 series or a 3 or 4 year old 750xi for around 40k with AWD. A 2 or 3 year old car has already depreciated a lot in value, and as long as you get a car that is still being made (meaning the body style, etc., hasn't completely changed) no one will know it is old unless you tell them. If you buy it pre-owned from a car dealer, you can probably get an extended warranty, etc. If you don't like BMW, check out the Infiniti M37x or M56x. You can get a 1 or 2 year old one for around half of what they are selling for brand new.

As for a car being suitable for all weather conditions, if you get a car that is AWD and put snow tires on it, you will be fine. The tires are SOOOOOO important. Don't cheap out and just get "all-season" tires. You need winter tires for the winter. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2wTg0l3_wI it shows summer vs all season vs winter tires.

~~~~~~
Your car loan shouldn't be for more than 3 years... Since you're 22 now (you didn't give me your age, so i can't recalculate this), if you invested that 40k over the next three years and could average 6-8% over the next 40 years, you would have...
$442,000 â $935,000. Is that car really worth almost an extra $1,000,000? (Accounting for inflation at 2.5%/year, that comes to almost $170,000 â $353,000. So, whatever you could buy for that today, you could buy the same exact thing when you are 65.)
Also, make sure you fully fund your ROTH IRA and your 401(k) to the match (if you get a 401(K) plan through your company) before you even worry about buying a car that is well above your means. You're very young, so now is the time to invest for your retirement... You'll thank me when you are old :) BY THE WAY!!! You can get a Roth IRA even though you don't qualify for one because you make too much money. Open a non-tax-deductible traditional IRA and do ROTH conversions.
~~~~~~~

My rule of thumb is don't spend more than 10% of your monthly after-tax income on a car payment... You probably make around 120k/yr after-taxes without counting your rental income. Don't figure your rental income into what you make because at any time your tenants could simply stop paying you. 120k/yr is 10k/month. A 40k car loan with no down payment over three years is going to be around 1150-1200/month depending on the interest rate you get. I think that's perfectly acceptable to go a little over the 10% in your case because you make a larger amount of money than the average person.

Also, count on your gas bill and insurance bill going up with having a luxury car. It shouldn't really affect you too much, but it's something to consider.

S Kuala lumpur!where to go?
hi! Im going to go to kuala lumpur tonight!please tell me where to go first(notice the destinations of the places you offer!) and which restaurants are good too eat chinese & malaysian food at? please....& is garden lake a good place to visit or there are much more better places to visit?
thanks in advance!

Answer
I have always wanted to go there..hope this helps

Places to go::

Lake Gardens:These 92-hectare manicured gardens lie west of Merdeka Square and were once home to the ranking British official. There's plenty to keep you amused, including a butterfly park, planetarium, insect museum, walk-in aviary, orchid garden and hibiscus garden. You can also hire boats on Tasik Perdana (Premier Lake).

Thean Hou Temple
The multi-layered and highly ornate Thean Hou Temple is one of the most visually impressive in Malaysia. It's dedicated to the Heavenly Mother, Thean Hou. Her statue takes centre stage in the main hall, with Guanyin (the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy) on her right and Shuiwei Shengniang (the Goddess of the Waterfront) to her left.

Statues of Milefo (the laughing Buddha), Weituo and Guandi further contribute to this Taoist/Buddhist hodgepodge.

There are great views from the temple's upper decks, while at its base are tourist restaurants and shops.

Petronas Towers
Rising 451.9m (1482ft) above KL, the 88-storey Petronas Towers - currently the world's second tallest building - was completed in 1998 at a cost of $US1.9 billion. The towers' floor plan is based on an eight-sided star that echoes the arabesque patterns of Islamic art.

Ride the lift to the 41st-floor Skybridge connecting the two towers for a decent view. There is a set quota of visitors allowed per day, so get here by 09:00 to avoid missing out.

National Museum Run Amok
The orthodox exhibits on Malaysia's history, arts, crafts and traditions are OK, but better are the wayang kulit (shadow puppets), traditional kris (daggers) and musical instruments. Check out the intriguing 'amok catcher', an ugly barbed device used to catch and hold a person who's gone beserk.

PLACES TO EAT:
Alexis Bistro Laksa Downstairs
Consistently good food is delivered at this Bangsar stalwart, where Asian favourites such as laksa mix it up with more European fare. After your meal move on to the ultra-smooth Bar Upstairs for a cigar and a cognac. There are four locations, including the Bar Upstairs, across Kuala Lumpur.
Hours: Mon-Thu 12:00pm-12:00am, Fri-Sat 12:00pm-1:00am

Bijan Aged Delicacies
While KL has plenty of places to enjoy good Malay food, there are very few where you can sample skilfully cooked traditional dishes in a sophisticated environment. This is the rare exception. Try the tempeh (fermented soybean cake) with anchovies, tomato rice, fried eggplant in spicy chilli sauce and a surprisingly pleasant durian cheesecake.
Hours: Mon-Sat 12:00pm-2:30pm, 6:30pm-10:30pm

Seri Angkasa
Revolving high up in the KL Tower, this restaurant offers exhilarating views and fine dishes. Instead of paying to view KL from the observation deck below, enjoy a lunch buffet and watch the city circle about you. Dining à la carte, there's a large range of local seafood and steaks, but book in advance for evening meals, especially sunset reservations.
Hours: Mon-Fri 12:00pm-3:00pm, 6:30pm-11:30pm; Sat-Sun 12:00pm-3:00pm, 7:00pm-

Shopping:
Sungei Wang Plaza
Sungei Wang Plaza and BB Plaza adjoin to form one of KL's biggest and best shopping complexes. You could lose yourself for hours exploring here. Sungei Wang is particularly good for youthful fashion and accessories, including many up-and-coming Malaysian designers.

Starhill Gallery
Time to breakout your platinum charge card - this glitzy mall is where you'll find Louis Vuitton, Gucci and many other luxury brands. You can eat at the great range of basement restaurants or luxuriate in the spas on the 5th floor.

Kompleks Budaya Kraf Batik Bazaar
A highlight of this large handicrafts complex, which stocks a large variety of locally produced batiks, carved wooden artefacts, pewter utensils, woven baskets, furniture, glassware and ceramics is a chance to meet craftsmen and artists in the surrounding gardens where you find their Art Colony.
The complex also has a small museum and offers batik-making courses.

I have learned that most luxury watches have a 30% retail add on and that you can negotiate down 25-30%. Can you go lower?

Answer
I bought my wife a movado last year. I went to a jewelry store not a major department store. the method I used (and have used several times with great success) is to have the cash I'm ready to spend on me (it doesn't work well with credit/debit cards) Do some homework beforehand so you know what you are willing to spend. I go in and establish a good rapport with the sales agent and look a several low to mid range items before looking at the high end pieces. then I ask about prices and explain I only have so much to spend. i only have cash and it is all my money for the gift. they usually come down in price, if they don't I start looking at the lowest priced item they showed me. at this point the sales person sees their big sale quickly fading away. since most sales organizations are based on commission and have commission accelerators based on total amount sold or average order size. the small sale will do them no good and they have already "wasted" over an hour on you. all they need to do to get every penny out of you is to drop the "lowest" price another 5%. 9 times out of 10 the sales person bites. they get their sale and you save your money everyone wins.

Does Breitling make a Navitimer, or any model watch in a quartz movement?

Josh

I hate automatic movements because they always just seem to lose time for me. Quartz are much more reliable. Does Breitling make a quartz movement Navitimer, or any other model?

Also, what other executive/luxury watch brands makes quartz movement watches?
Could you also provide a link to any of the quartz movements you find?

Answer
Breitling Navitimer models are made with Mechanical Automatic Self-Winding Chronometer Movement, and it's Swiss Made.

If you'd like quartz movement specifically you could take a look at Cartier watches:

What does Chicago have to offer for a fun relaxing weekend of pampering and shopping?

Hello

My friend and I are planning a Chicago Girls' Getaway Weekend in October. The plan is to have a relaxing stress free weekend of spa treatments, shopping and mostly fun without the husband and/or kids. Can anyone offer suggestions on hotels, spas, restaurants, shopping and entertainment? Thank you!!!

Answer
If you want luxury, I would focus on the North Michigan Avenue area. The top hotels for luxury are:

The Four Seasons
The Peninsula
The Ritz-Carlton
The Swissotel
The Omni (rooftop sundecks!)

The Four Seasons and Peninsula have in-house spas, and Michael Anthony on Belmont Ave is also very nice. Any hotel in this neighborhood will put you in the middle of the nicest shopping/dining places.

Don't miss the Crate+Barrel superstore and the 900 North Michigan Shops (Oprah has a condo in this building). Water Tower Place is a high-end multi-level shopping center.

There's many restaurants in this part of the city. Bistro 110 (next to the old Water Tower) is as close to authentic French as you'll get.
Smith and Wolensky on the river (next to House of Blues) is a New York-style steak house that's one of the best in the city. You can go to the lounge on the 95th floor of the Hancock Bldg. (875 N Michigan) and have champagne and strawberries, and have the same view as the Observatory, without paying the entrance fee.

For musical theater, you'll have to do downtown to the Theater District. "Jersey Boys" and "Mary Poppins" are the big shows now. Make sure you swing by Millenium Park on south Michigan Ave. to take your picture in front of the "big bean" sculpture with your image reflected against the city skyline. On Wed. and Sats. you can see fireworks at 10:00 out on Navy Pier, a "touristy place", but worth it for the photo ops and people watching.

A nice, relaxing thing to do is take one of the boat rides along the Chicago River run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

How much should I spend on an engagement gift for my Hubby To Be?

PeBzDeL

What gifts have you given to your male fiance's?

How much is it traditionally for the girl to spend on her fiance?

I was thinking of buying him a white gold ring with bling (as he likes his bling blings). But how much should I roughly spend?

Do you have other suggestions on a gift idea that are more appealing then a ring.

Thankyou,
Pebbles.

Answer
Based on the other responses, I am not the only one who had no idea I was supposed to get my husband an engagement gift (six years ago). When I read your question, I felt guilty and thoughtless, but now I feel better after reading the responses.

Anyway, for his wedding gift, I saved up and bought him a Tagheuer watch that he had long wanted but couldn't afford. I spent a pretty penny ($2000) but it was worth it to me becasue he had spent more than that on my ring. It was a luxury splurge and not something we would ever spend that kind of money on now that we're married. (BTW: it was easier to save for it without him knowing becasue our expenses were not joint before we were married)

Since you are going to get him a wedding gift anyway, maybe save up and get him something really nice like that and forgo the engagement gift, or get him something on the smaller side. I think guys always like watches anyway, but your idea for the ring sounds nice.

Why are pretty women attracted to gangsters?

I watch mob movies and play video games on organized crime. All the pretty women are romantically involved with men in the criminal underworld. The average women are with non-criminal men.

I guess gangsters get all the women.

Answer
It is true that you are getting your source from movies and video games but on the other hand there is a sense of priority in that lifestyle, the best restaurants, respect out of fear, luxury items, and somehow a belief that her love will change him. Most "gangsters" live a double life and as sociopathic as they may be on the street can be just as loving and gentle at home. Women love power in many forms and their are many woman who will find that lifestyle brash and unacceptable.

Can you tell if a woman is jewish by the way she dresses?

LC

I've been told jewish women have a certain "look" to them in terms of style and appearance. In otherwords they dress really glam and "luxury" like mink coats, leopard prints, lots of diamonds and "glitzy" things. Is is true you can usually tell a jewish woman by her style?

Answer
Wooowwwwwww. I could rant for hours about the people I meet that are just like you. Just watch this video, itll clear things up.

Do you think that women are unfairly judged for being more materialistic than men?

We all know that if a man makes fun of another man, he's just being funny or perhaps is bringign up a good point...but if a woman makes fun of another woman, she's being catty. And we all know that if a man flips out, he must've been angered to that point, but if a woman flips out, she's automatically being irrational and probably has her period. We all know that if a man flirts with a married woman, he's just being a guy (that's what guys do!), and if a woman flirts with a married man, she's being a homewrecker.

These double standards aside, what about when it comes to materialism?
If a man spends $2000 on a frivolous electronic device like a phone or an ipad, thereby spending WAY more than is practical or should be necessary for such a device, if one is needed in one's life at all, we accept this as being part of the modern age and maybe even make up some absurd excuse like he HAS to be able to contact mars on his new-fangled watch or something like that.

But if a woman wants to spend $2000 on a designer handbag, we call her... well, let's see:
Shallow
Superficial
Materialistic
Financially irresponsible

oh and we guilt her by saying that children are starving .. whilest she carries a $2000 bag just for fun.

Have you ever heard a man being scolded because children are dying of AIDS while he has three different devices on his person at all times to check his fantasy football stats?
Johnny -- Dude yes they do ! Women get made fun of and judged harshly over the designer bag thing and it's not fair.

Answer
Men get the same judgment, when you have a $2000 new toy though, you don't care, because you got a new toy, and they don't.

So that's the tip right there, if you pamper yourself with an expensive handbag, just ignore the hate, and enjoy the luxury.

How is the Recession effecting Brazil?

Kendra Har

We are studying Brazil in Geography and all our videos are from the year 2000. It got me wondering what effect the current economic climate was having on Brazil.

Answer
Not much, Ciara.

I hope the videos are not based on the news of CNN or movies from Hollywood...

I don't know where are you from and what you learnt at elementary school, but, I know that many people around the World imagine Brazil as international news and idiot movies from Hollywood pictures my country.

Many people in Brazil have standard of life similar and many others, better than millions in Europe and USA. Brazil is not the richest nation of the World but is too much far to be one of the poor part of the World. But, many persons thinks they knows enough about Brazil to teach a class, then all they explain are stereotypes based in their own thinking as Brazil must be. They don't care about how Brazil is.

Brazilian economy is growing (4-6%/year) and inflation is about 6.1%/year. Brazilian ministry of economy expects some extra number of person will be unployed in 2009 due the international crisis. Since Europe and USA are submerse in crisis, international demand may to dimi but some bailout is given for agricultors, among others. Brazilan Central Bank was authorized to realize currency "SWAP" operations.

Brazil is a great nation with a large territory and a big GDP almost 2 trillion dollars/year. It is at level to belong the G7. Canada and Italia, to be more specific. And this put us in the 9th place, in terms of economy, behind the G7 and Spain. Medium class is strong and have an incomming about 9,000.00/year (medium), but, wages can vary only US$ 500.00/month to more than US$ 25,000.00 dollars/month for a typical person of medium class. Even people in the slums have microwave stove, TV, DVD player, etc.
Is this a poor nation?

The medium class passes the life expending the money in the shopping centers where many prices are highest than in the USA. As I told in another answer, a guy of the middle class from the EUA can buy a Ferrari F430 because it is very cheap there. I see in the movies "my 175,000 dollars Ferrari..." while the cheap price for a Ferrari in Brazil is more than 1 million dollars.

A simple marriage cerimony/party like these below, may costs more than 200,000 dollars, here. It's a luxury for the riches ones in the USA, but a goal to the brazilian high middle class families.

http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=3pDnygEVans
http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=T4hGtBb5l30

http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=m_GshJy_uV0
http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=91U16s9dPc4

Note that many prices are different in Brazil. Some things costs much less, but, some, are more expensive than in the USA, due the taxes for importing (60% over the price in the country of origins).

Brazilian imports are toys (from China), some musical instruments, mahines and parts for machines, locomotives, some motherboards and other hardware for computers, etc.

The best salaries are for managers, business men/women, publicitaries, experts in marketing, programmers and systems analists, TV anchors/reporters and hosts, designers, electronic/telecommunication engineers and tecnicians, DJs, videomakers, professional photographers and all that works in communication or business, special. The worst wages are for office workers, sellers, nurses, teachers, police men/women and others.

Im shopping for a watch and i was wondering what brand name to buy. I want it to be an "impressive" brand name. Like Rolex. But Rolex is just too expensive. What famous prestigious brand names are out there. Like the Benz or Lexus of watches. If the style makes a difference then im looking for a stainless steel shiny watch thats big.

Ive seen a Charles Jourdan... I dont know if thats any good.

Answer
The following site has alot of mens watches in all price ranges. America is a brand oriented culture. Lots of people know names like Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot and Omega, less know of brands like IWC and Jaeger LeCoultre. I tend to buy watch brands that few people know of and I get alot of compliments on them. I've even had people with $10k watches take note and compliment watches that cost less then $1000.

If you want brand name recognition, got with Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot, or Omega. But browse through the site below, you should find lots of great prices on luxury watches as well as come across brands you never heard of.

May I have menâs attention? Which brand is watch do men want to wear?

Justin Smi

Love my boyfriend very much. He is handsome and sexy, I want to send him a gift. Maybe a watch is his favor.

Answer
A few more additional details would help -- how old are you (and your boyfriend), what's your budget, what's his style etc?

Assuming you are a young person who cares mostly about the style, take a look at Fossil or Kenneth Cole watches -- they tend to make stylish watches for young folks that quite good looking, both digital and analog. And they also tend to be rather affordable (anywhere from $25 - $250).

In digital watches, you've Casios and Timex that make some rather interesting ones. Check out Casio's Path Finder or G-Shock line, or Timex's Iron Man line (if you're into digital that is).

If your boyfriend is into analog watches, take a look at Seiko. They make a great quality watches at a decent price. A lot of their watches are Rolex-look alikes at much cheaper prices (not cheap knockoffs, but similar styles).

Timex also has some good analog watches. Another good brand would be Victorinox, makers of the Swiss Army Knife. They have some interesting watches, as well.

If you've a higher price point, you can look at low-end Swiss watches such as Tag Heur, Raymond Weil, Tissot, or Longines. For instance, I'm in my mid twenties, and my wife recently gifted me with a gorgeous Raymond Weil Automatic for Christmas [1], since I often have to wear a suit and tie for work, and it's a very clean and dressy watch. Watches in similar styles are usually priced at around 1-2k. Those are lower end luxury watches.

If you've more to spend, you get into brands like Breitling, IWC, JLC, Patek etc. which go from 5k and upwards.

In conclusion, assuming that you're a younger couple and your boyfriend prefers "stylish" watches, I'd look at the following -- Fossil, Kenneth Cole, Victorinox, Tissot, Tag Heur, and Rolex (in increasing order of price). Good luck!

This'll be the third time I've asked this question because I keep getting list after list of basic survival items. I already have a backpack with basic elements of survival. I also have a lot of 'handy items" that I have come to enjoy carrying with me (i.e. candle, glue, nails, needle and thread, etc) that aren't necessary for survival.

I wanted to see if anybody could suggest any more handy items they have come to discover is quite a luxury when they need it. Just some straight up good ideas is all.

Some good ideas from my other answered questions include: toilet paper, several yards of duct tape wrapped around nails, a few nips of alcohol

Please don't bother answering this if you are going to copy and paste a list from another site. Thanks
now these suggestions are fantastic!

Answer
If you are using a backpacking backpack.... you can wrap duck tape around the frame.

For parachute cord, I have woven 40 feet of it into a size 38 belt for myself using a Cobra Stitch and 2 buckles I cannibalized from some old equipment. If I wanted more cord, I could add a King Cobra Stitch.

I also have a wrist band made of 10 feet of cord and 2 cannibalized buckles... If I had been thinking, I could have woven a watch into it. I plan on adding a dog tag to it, when I learn my blood type.

That parachute cord is great stuff... The belt has a strength in excess of 1100 pounds. If you unravel it into the 14 strands inside the sheath, you could get more than 500 feet of fishing line, capable is catching small fish. If you needed more strength, for bigger fish, you could keep it in 7 strands, with half the length.

The belt would make a great tourniquet.

The cord can be used for snares.

You can floss with it, thus keeping dental hygiene up.

It can be used for hoisting things into trees.

It can be used from some basic climbing... the cord can support 550lbs.

It can aid in constructing a shelter.

It can be a clothes line.

It is super stuff. I always wear the wrist band, and I wear the belt on backpacking trips. I always have at least 10 feet of cord with me.

My passion is horses, yet I'm kinda if-y about them?

Kyle

I've always love horses, but I've never had the luxury of owning one. I've always begged my parents for horse riding lessons, but we were always unfortunate. Never really had much money, and finally when I was about 10, she paid for me to go to horse camp. The horses there were kind of sketchy. They weren't very well trained, and they weren't sound. I was there for about two weeks and I was very relaxed with them, I'd seen some people get bucked off and bit, but never bothered me because I trusted the horse I was on. The third week I as there I had to change horses. I was comfortable at first, but I noticed him getting very frustrated with me. He wanted to do what he wanted to do. At that point I didnt know how to ride a horse that's galloping. I guess he got mad at me and he took off. He just starting running and tried to buck me off but I stayed on. Then he stopped and tried to bite my legs and was very upset with me. Somebody caught him and calmed down but I was very shaken up. I was a very small girl at the time and he was a very huge horse. I kept thinking about the fact that he was a very strong horse and he could have easily hurt me very badly or even kill me. I never came back because I felt scared. Ever since then I've been slightly afraid of them. I will gladly go up and pet a horse just because I still love them but there I'm always thinking in the back of my head that this horse can kill me if it wants to. I've been through ALOT here lately and I watched a documentary about Buck Brannaman the other night and he was amazing. It made me realize that I want to be with horses for the rest of my life and I want to make a career out of them. What careers involve horses besides horse trainer? Oh and how can I over come my fear of horses? I understand that if you are scared of a horse they will feel it too an be scared of you, I dont want to be afraid anymore.
I'm 18. I need to find out what I want to do with my life.

Answer
Hey! I have been riding horses all my life and now own and pay for 3 of my own horses and I am your age :)

I had a horrible accident in January 2010 on my horse Penini. I was told that the field had been cleared for all ice and so I took Penini out to the paddock to let him gallop and get all his energy out especially it being winter he was full of energy. Penini slipped of a large piece of ice went out of all fours and rolleD with me on his bag through the paddock and he couldn't catch his balance. I broke my nose and my left cheekbone along with my wrist, my four fingers,my 2 ribs and my right ankle and was knocked unconcious and rushed to the ER. I couldn't get on him for months I was absouletely petrified of him I didn't go up to the barn because how much fear I had of my 16hh sweetheart saddle bred Penini I had panick attacks on the way to the barn and couldn't go when my mom finally wouldn't let the panick attacks stop me from going I was forced by my mom to ride him and I help onto the saddle horn for dear life and had her hold onto his reins and walk him and I hyperventalating during the ride. It took months to get me to trot a line and I finally got up to canter a lap around the arena I broke down, from all the fear and pain I had felt for months.

I am back to jumping and running barrels and just riding for the love of riding... It takes time but it will get better I promise you just take your time with riding and you will get there I promise you take it slow and you will get through it, I promise you nobody said riding was easy, they just said it would be worth it! Start with western there is a horn to hold on to and it is extra support and comfort

Happy Riding! Xxxxx

How much car can I afford, and what car should I get with that budget?

~~~~~~
Your car loan shouldn't be for more than 3 years... Since you're 22 now (you didn't give me your age, so i can't recalculate this), if you invested that 40k over the next three years and could average 6-8% over the next 40 years, you would have...
$442,000 â $935,000. Is that car really worth almost an extra $1,000,000? (Accounting for inflation at 2.5%/year, that comes to almost $170,000 â $353,000. So, whatever you could buy for that today, you could buy the same exact thing when you are 65.)
Also, make sure you fully fund your ROTH IRA and your 401(k) to the match (if you get a 401(K) plan through your company) before you even worry about buying a car that is well above your means. You're very young, so now is the time to invest for your retirement... You'll thank me when you are old :) BY THE WAY!!! You can get a Roth IRA even though you don't qualify for one because you make too much money. Open a non-tax-deductible traditional IRA and do ROTH conversions.
~~~~~~~

Why are pretty women attracted to gangsters?

Citizen watch: is this high end?

M.A.B

I recently bought a $325 Citizen watch.... I'm not to familier with watch brands as I have always just worn cheap Timex watches.

Is Citizen considered a good watch?..... how is the quality of this company... and its repuatation?

Should I have just gotten a Bulova?

Answer
Neither Citizen nor Bulova are high end watches. High end watches are Omega, Rolex, Jaeger LeCoultre, Patek Philippe, and Vacheron Constintin to name a few and typically cost over $5000. These watches have the highest craftsmenship and will last more than a life time. Citizen on the the other hand is a cheap watch that tries to look high end and markets itself as a luxury watch, even though it is made in China. Most of these low end watches have the same ETA movements inside that are technically Swiss and are put into a cheap Chinese case and marketed under different brand names. Upon buying it, it's resale values drops to $30 - $40. So they are really not worth the money. However, if that is all you can afford, then it is all you can afford. It's a decent watch and should last several years. Bulova tends to have better craftsmenship and last longer.

Most of us dislike their approach in preaching their beliefs. However, let's say, theoretically, that what they say in interviews and demonstrations is true. I am curious as to how they would respond to a question about their use of the latest technology (Twitter, iPhones [some have them in demonstration footage]), their clothing (name brand [Nike], other textiles produced in mass quantity in China, sunglasses clearly not hand made), other tools they use to highlight their beliefs (Photoshop, Windows) and their own personal luxuries (leather couches, new appliances, entertainment centers with surround sound and flat screen televisions). I am not being facetious, but truly interested in what the online community thinks they would justify these utilizations.

They preach that their intent is to make all aware of God's will, and that if we are not showing others the way, we are enabling 'f**s' and the destruction of our own world. BUT, if they are contributing to this 'enabling' society through purchasing and utilizing all of the means listed above, are they not, themselves, enabling the enablers?

I, most likely, similar to many of you have spent some time researching the WBC and watching interviews and no one, not even Brick Stone as far as I can tell, brings up these seemingly obvious questions. There seems to be some serious double-standards occurring here.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks in advance...
For instance, just now I watched a clip of Brick Stone interviewing Steve Drain in February of this year, and Mr. Drain is wearing an Under Armour brand jacket. Under Armour, like most widespread, successful companies, has a non-discrimination policy. So, by purchasing these garments (and promoting them by wearing them) are they not supporting companies whose ideologies are in complete contrast to their own?

Answer
Not that I agree with WBC and how they do things, nowhere in the Bible does it forbid Christians to wear clothes that are of a brand name. The Bible basically just said to dress modestly...so whether the brand be Nike, Under Armor, etc... it's not forbidden.

As far as technology goes, the church utilizes those things to operate in today's world. Those things were created by humans to enhance life. They are not by themselves wrong, but the use of them that can be wrong. If you read the Bible, people back then were fishermen, carpenters, builders, clothing makers, shipbuilders, etc... They made stuff that helped people function in the world. "We are all sinners and come short of the glory of God" was as true then as it is now. Not every shipbuilder was a follower of Jesus, or lived a life that went along with the Gospel, but their boats were still used by the disciples to fish and travel from place to place.

Christians today are businessman, carpenters, mechanics, electricians, etc... and "We are all sinners..." still applies - christian or not. Whether or not the Christian does research or is enlightened by the brand name's company that may or may not agree or go against the policies of their church - and how they feel they should react - is between them and God. But nowhere in the Bible does it forbid the use of these things.

FYI, when you read the Bible it may seem as though it's full of conflicts, but that's because there are different "dispensations" (periods of time in English, or "ages"). The Old Testament, for example, was basically the dispensation of Law. Simply put - The people had to follow all the laws, or they were condemned. There was only one way to get out of or make right your sins, and that was to sacrifice a "clean" animal, such as a sheep. That animal's blood was put on the alter and burned. The sacrifice of the animal's blood caused God to forgive that person's sin -- but it only lasted a limited time.People had to sacrifice animals on the alter all the time to cover their since.

Today, we are in the dispensation, or age of Grace - why? Because God sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for all of our sins. He is an everlasting sacrifice. His blood was shed to eternally cover all of our sins. So, we don't need to follow the law like the people in the Old Testament did. "Everything is permissible, but everything is not beneficial" according 1 Corinthians 10:23. so it is not wrong for a Christian to wear Under Armor, or use an iPhone. Now, if a Christian beat up an old lady and stole that iPhone, that's not beneficial....and is against what God would want them to do. But all they have to do is ask God's forgiveness, turn from that sin of stealing and beating up old ladies, and make things right with the old lady by apologizing....and God forgives them and restores them.

This is a simple explanation of what I'm talking about: http://www.matthiasmedia.com.au/2wtl/2wtlonline.html

Again, I am not a Fundamentalist like the WBC people. I am a Christian, but I don't agree with their practices of marching at funerals, being legalistic and downright hateful. But this particular thing that you're talking about is not wrong, so I wanted to explain why. Christians are taught to live as Christ did....loving, ministering, healing, praying for, and encouraging people - which is what I believe.

Hope this explained things.

Im giving myself a computer for the holidays. What should I keep in mind when making a purchase?

I don't plan to use it for work. Only for games and fun stuff--movies,music, etc.

Answer
Your question is relatively broad, as the level of your gaming, music, and movie usage isn't defined. Will you simply be watching movies or editing them? When you say games, do you mean online Yahoo! poker or do you want to play The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the highest graphic settings? The answers to these questions change my recommendations greatly, but I will give a quick, sweeping overview of components anybody should look for with a PC.

If you are going to buy the PC from a major company such as Dell, Gateway, etc. you will find that they offer different level computers for different levels of needs. As somebody suggested, a desktop will typically give you more performance for the price if you plan on using it at home. But, there is something very nice about being able to e-mail from your couch and surfing the net wireless.

Still, you listed movies as one of your concerns, and this typically calls for a large screen and robust sound system. You can get a large screen for a laptop, but then it ceases to be all that portable and you'd still have to hook it up to stationary speakers or headphones to get any kind of audio enjoyment from your music/media. In this regards, do no skimp on the monitor. Look for an LCD monitor with a high refresh rate (for gaming purposes) and make sure it is big enough for your purposes. 17" is a good starting size, but you'll thank yourself if you go 19" or larger. Widescreen is a luxury you can choose if you wish, but I wouldn't say it's required to any degree.

As for the guts of the computer, you're going to want to look at CPU, memory, graphics card, and hard drive space. There are, of course, other components, but these are your core essentials when judging what type of machine you're looking at.

How much CPU power will be completely dependent upon what types of applications you wish to run. If you see yourself doing movie editing, every ounce of horsepower counts. But if you don't plan on doing editing or extremely high end gaming, basically anything that is a 64 bit processor will suffice. It is important you get the 64 bit processor, as this technology will be taking over soon and you don't want to be lagging too far behind after only a year. There are two major brands of CPU: Intel and AMD. Both are good choices and you will find people that swear by one or the other. I've used both, and can say it's hard to make a bad choice.

Memory (RAM) is simple. The more you have, the better. A year ago I would have said 512mb would get most people by, but that's swiftly changing. I'd recommend at least 1gb of ram. If you plan on doing any sort of 3D gaming, put the most in you can afford. RAM is probably the cheapest and easiest way to notice an improvement in your computers performance.

Graphics cards can get more complicated. I wrote another suggestion on graphics card I will link for you here if you wish to read more:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=As7hHFFE_Y86a_2VkUktXL3sy6IX?qid=20061130225304AA7j0co&show=7#profile-info-fa45dee379360ef00b1118481e6ba8c0aa
If you plan on doing extensive 3D gaming and movie watching, you will want a nice graphics card. Get at least 256mb of memory on it. This would be the minimum now for gaming, so if you can upgrade, do it. However for most people, a graphics card with 256mb is going to do the trick for awhile.

Finally, the hard drive. This is just how much stuff you'll be fitting onto your computer. Again, the more the better. If you're downloading music, games, and movies 100gb (gigabytes) gets small really quick. Look for something with over 150gb, and upgrade as you see fit to your needs.

In short: Get a nice monitor! This is something you'll be looking at for hours, so make it pretty. When getting a CPU, make it a 64 bit processor. The best graphics card you can afford is future proofing you to be able to do games for at least 2 years. The more RAM the better, at least 1 gigabyte (But you probably wouldn't need more than 2gb). And the more hard drive space the better: you want to be able to store all your videos, movies, music, and games.

There are other features to look for, but by follow these basic standards you'll be sure to find a PC to suit your needs and price!

A quick word on Apple computers:
These are a great alternative to the PC, especially now that they come with an intel processor. However, they are going to typically cost more than a PC and not every piece of software/hardware will work for it. Still, they are beautiful machines and if you can afford the price tag I wouldn't think twice about recommending a purchase.
