Ms Spook

I'm looking to get the absolute best I can get. I'm going to school for 2d and 3d animation in Chicago. And I'm lost as to what to get.

I think 3 grand is the best I can go as for price.

Answer
You don't really 3k, with 1.5k you'd have a very good comp.
You'll want
1) good CPU
2) as much RAM as your mobo can fit, probably 16GB ddr3
3) a pretty good graphics card (but no need for top of the line), a workstation graphic card (one specially for graphic rendering) would be better than those made for gaming but more expensive.

CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K or i5 2500k. Depends if the apps you will use take advantage of hyper-threading or not. If you don't use hyper-threading, the i5 is pretty much the same as the i7 and 100$ cheaper. If you DO use hyper-threading, the i7 is much better. Since you seem to have a lot of cash, you might as well go for the i7 if you're not sure.

GPU: I'm not familiar with workstation GPUs so I can't help. If you decide to put a gaming GPU, something like a gtx 560 ti or radeon 6950 would do the job.

Other components: Watch out because stores that sell computers already built usually skimp on the less important components (building your own comp is better..)

PSU: You want one that is rated silver or gold. Skimping on the PSU can damage your computer, and cheap PSUs are noisy.

Case: Don't pick a case for the bling, pick a case that can block sound yet provide good aeration (like fractal design cases)

Fans: Cheap fans make a lot of noise, so buy good ones. (like noctua, and other good brands)

Fan controller: Allows you to make your computer a lot more quiet for cheap.

SSD: For what you plan to do, it is completely unnecessary, luxury really. A good fast one is crucial m4 if you want one anyway.

HHD: You'll want a fast one. Capacity depends on how much stuff you plan to put on the computer. 1TB if you don't have a ton of very large files, 2TB if you do. Cheap HHDs are slow, watch out for the times(speed).

Also, you might want to consider a mac, however I have no knowledge on those so I can't help.

teen start a collection of watches?

lawliet411

Im a little new in the world of watches and im was wondering how can a teen start his own watch collection.my father say to star small and then passing the year have great watches like rolex and omegas and other kinds.
its this a way to start

Answer
I own over 50 watches now that were made 1893 to recently. You need to study watches, so you know the brands and thus can recognize good deals when you encounter them. I look at "International Watch", "Chronos", "Watch Time", etc. magazines at newsstands and often buy them. I also have some watch almanacs, e.g. "Wristwatch Annual", 1999 to 2011. There are some books you should add to your collection, if you're serious about collecting watches. Look at libraries and bookstores to see what is available in your location. I buy some Japanese, French and German watch mags, for I speak several languages. Look at pawn shops, flea markets, garage sales, estate sales, auctions, etc. as I do all over the country. I've written five basic books about watches with several updated editions of each book. Now, I'm working on the fifth edition of "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS" for 2012. I finished earlier editions in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2007. In the third edition, the costliest brands were 1. Breguet, 2. Patek Philippe, 3. Vacheron Constantin. Rolex has placed 18th, 24th, 41at and now 48th for 2012. Omega is a bit cheaper than Rolex. Both brands are what I call lower level luxury brands. Today I'm wearing a Vacheron Constantin "Les Historiques, Ellipse" that cost $10,290 in 1994. In 2011, it would cost $29,300 if it was still made. A couple of years ago, a comparable Rolex "Cellini" cost $8200. Thus, my VC is about 3.5 times costlier than a Rolex of the same type. Yesterday, I wore a Cartier "Santos Dumont" that costs $14,450 in 2011 or about 1.8 times more than a similar Rolex. Rolex is over-rated. It spends $47 million a year on advertising in the USA, so everyone had heard of it. There are much better brands. My book tells about that.
At a little hole in the wall store in the wino area of San Francisco (on Market between 6th and 7th Sts.), I saw a Jaeger-LeCoultre 1950s "Memovox". I had just looked at some on Sutter St. that cost $2500-$3000. It was in better shape. I asked the price and almost drooled when the man told me $200. I tried to make it seem he was besting me. I bought it and took it to Shapur the JLC dealer in SF to order a leather strap with buckle that cost $250 in 1996- more than the watch. Now, a new watch like it costs $9600, and I have $450 in it. You should study as I have, so that you can recognize such great deals as this one. I can tell about others too.

Little do you all know of Joseph Kony. He is a horrible man, and his name needs to be known.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc

Watch that video, it's about him. He is in Africa and he abducts children in Africa, turning young girls into sex slaves and boys into soldiers. He makes them kill their own parents. He's been doing this for years, and he won't stop. This isn't just a few children, it's over 30,000.

I'm 14 years old, I know I don't have the power of a celebrity or a big name who can share it with the world. But why should I have a good life? Good friends. family, food, money, luxuries, school- when there are kids in Africa suffering, going to sleep at night scared of being kidnapped or killed.

This is your chance to make a difference. Do you think you can? Spread the word of Kony 2012. Not to praise him, but to make his name famous and known so we can find him and finally put an end to this. Everyone together can change this, are you willing to help?

Answer
Read up kiddo, because what you think you know isn't true, during the 90's Kony fought among his fighters and was a visible force in the LRA.(This was when people should have paid attention). The man is getting older though and he himself must realize that his chances of ruling the region completely will never happen during his life time. During the past 10 years Kony has been building the LRA to last, killing him, arresting him, shredding his body into fine dust, none of it changes anything or the situation in region. Compare killing him to killing Binladen, Al-Qaeda was almost unscathed by the event and the LRA will react in almost the same way. There are far more important things for the West to be doing in Africa.

1) The United States alone pours billions into African aid every year, a large portion of this aid goes to the 'governments' in Africa. Immediately most countries hand out a large portions of that money to the Tribes and War Chiefs to keep them satisfied so that they may 'spend it on their people'. What actually happens is that money goes to funding mercs and fighters which keeps fueling more wars in central Africa

2) There are far worse crimes in Africa going on, in the Congo multiple Congo resistance groups are burning villages, tested unknown chemicals, and blindly gassing massive amounts of land. In Somalia Al-Shabaab is kidnapping women and children and forcing the women to give birth to more soldiers, and raising the already kidnapped children as fighters. On top of this Al-Shabaab is funding pirates, and waging holy wars in neighboring countries forcing millions to flee the horn of Africa,

3) North Africa is burning itself down at an incredible rate, governments in the North are on the verge of collapse and already countries have begun to split.

All in all, it's great that people want to go after Kony, but it may already be too late to do anything except send troops to Uganda, and that won't really solve anything. People should focus on fixing the African aid system that exists so that the masses can be educated, ignorance is what gives ALL of these brutes their power. There are far more terrorist organizations in Africa than anywhere in the world, and thousands of mercenary groups have made a killing off of all the wars, so much so that many mercenary groups have bought land in central and north African nations(Essentially they've become their own military-micronation) Africa has been burning with the glow of war since well before even your great grand parent's time because of mistakes the world has made in intervening in events they didn't fully understand. Do any of you people seriously think for even a moment now that a single candle means anything when compared to an inferno that blazes brighter than a sun?

Keep your wits about you and educate yourself, the American Education system refuses to teach about these touchy tales but that's no excuse for you to blindly take a step BACKWARDS when dealing with the problem that is the stability in Africa.

Edit: Something to note, Kony may be 'evil' but the Ugandan government is no more innocent than he. Supporting the lesser of two evils in itself is evil and wrong.

Any big offseason moves you guys predicting or expecting to happen? Remember KG and Ray Allen. So any major and franchise changing ones this summer?

Answer
Well the Pistons are going to make drastic changes according to Joe Dumars. Perhaps as widely believed Rasheed Wallace may be leaving in a trade for perhaps another big man who plays the post more. My friend has mentioned Jermaine O'Neal being traded for Wallace, Hermmann, and Ratliff.

Lakers I think may sign a defensive minded player after watching the Boston Massacre, Ron Artest is mentioned in many rumors. He's thought to opt out of his contract and the Lakers are on the top of his list. Although he costs a handful the Lakers management probably won't mind the luxury tax as long as they win that championship. Another move would be Lamar getting traded for a more traditional SF.

The 3 Texas teams: San Antonio may make a bunch of free agent signings to bring in young guys as expected. Dallas may trade for some offensive players to help Kidd with the Mavericks' new offense. Houston I feel will want to bring in more shooters and get rid of Bobby Jackson.

Cleveland may make some trades to b/c they have a bunch of expiring contracts that other teams may be interested in. Look for the Cavs to bring in better shooters to surround Lebron.

I don't expect big changes other than the Pistons perhaps trading Wallace. So there won't be no KG or Allens being shipped out this offeseason.

What are some prestigious brand names of men's watches?

Hannibal

Im shopping for a watch and i was wondering what brand name to buy. I want it to be an "impressive" brand name. Like Rolex. But Rolex is just too expensive. What famous prestigious brand names are out there. Like the Benz or Lexus of watches. If the style makes a difference then im looking for a stainless steel shiny watch thats big.

Ive seen a Charles Jourdan... I dont know if thats any good.

Answer
The following site has alot of mens watches in all price ranges. America is a brand oriented culture. Lots of people know names like Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot and Omega, less know of brands like IWC and Jaeger LeCoultre. I tend to buy watch brands that few people know of and I get alot of compliments on them. I've even had people with $10k watches take note and compliment watches that cost less then $1000.

If you want brand name recognition, got with Rolex, Tag Heuer, Tissot, or Omega. But browse through the site below, you should find lots of great prices on luxury watches as well as come across brands you never heard of.

I saw a lot of different prices for that Luminox Navy SEAL Dive watch (Black Series 1 to be exact). But I don't want to end up getting a fake one with all that money I spent. How can you know if a watch is genuine or fake? Any tips and recommendations

Answer
If you are that concerned about purchasing a genuine watch then buy only from an Authorized Dealer they will be listed on the manufacturers website. Javy is right at the $100-$200 dollar price level you usually don't have to worry about it being counterfeit ;) (That watch is widely available and can be purchased brand new in the box for around $150)

If you would like to get your husband a "real" dive watch consider the OMEGA Seamaster Chronometer (James Bond's watch from the 007 movies) it has a retail of about $2000 but it can be purchased brand new in the box for around $1300. This may seem like a luxury purchase but consider the fact that the OMEGA is an heirloom quality Certified Swiss Chronometer (just like a Rolex) that can be passed down from generation to generation, never needs a battery (Automatic Self-Winding Mechanical Movement) and unlike a $200 dive watch, will only go up in price as the years go by. So over time you not only have a functional work of art and a world-class timepiece but an investment that will increase in value the longer you own it!

How do you know if a rolex watch is authentic?

msleslies

Answer
"Spotting Fake Watches
Someone wants to sell you a genuine Rolex for only $150! Does that sound too good to be true? Of course it is! We've all seen these scoundrels on busy streets of metro areas. They are also found on the Internet, and they are taking advantage of gullible online buyers.

There are several key ways to avoid fake watches.

The number one piece of advice that anyone will give you is to buy watches with the manufacturer's serial number. When buying expensive watches online, be sure that the vendor promises a manufacturer's serial number. The finest luxury brands apply serial numbers to all their pieces. Fake watches will not have these. When in doubt, don't.
Another good method to avoid fakes is to cross-reference a vendor with the brand's web site. Almost every brand we've profiled has a list of authorized vendors on its website. In some cases, a vendor might not be authorized, but they may still be able to link you with an authorization agent.
Here are some other ways to avoid fakes:

Study the real models - browse manufacturer catalogues or websites and other displays. Be familiar with styles of bracelets, hands, clasps, etc. Be aware that not all configurations will be familiar, however.
Some very obvious replicas badly reproduce logos and face details. But also know the history of a brand and its various insignia.
Whether you are buying a new watch or a previously owned one, make sure that it has all the appropriate papers and (if applicable) that it comes with a manufacturer's guarantee. A signed warranty is the best sign of validity.
Some online retailers sell fakes on purpose. Using one of these vendors only contributes to a big problem in the real world and on the Internet. It also shows a lack of respect for the authentic Swiss brands by supporting counterfeiting scoundrels. After wearing one of these cheap fakes, you'll only want the real thing anyway.

Rolex is so avidly against counterfeiters its website has a lengthy guide to safeguard against fake Rolex watches."

everyone who has a kid and/or is married, got a tax cut. The tax increase democrats are passing is the highest in history, and all will suffer. Fact is, any tax increase hurts people with the least amount of money, tax increases don't really hurt rich people, they have plenty. People with little to moderate income are most hurt b/c they are usually barely making ends meet and taking more from them gives them less to save and spend.

Critics of the tax cutes predicted disaster, supporters the opposite, and now supporters have been proven right by more than three years of prosperity.

"The dividend rate would snap back to 39.6% from 15%, the capital gains rate to 20% from 15%, and the top marginal income tax rate to 39.6% from 35%. Marginal and average tax rates for the middle class would also increase, returning to the Clinton-era levies that had driven taxes as a share of GDP to a postwar high of 20.9%. "

"With an anticipated take of $400 billion over five years, the result would be a bigger tax increase than Bill Clinton's in 1993 -- the one that helped cost Democrats control of Congress the following year. "

"Come 2011, many families will be hit by a renewed marriage penalty. Consequently, 23 million Americans will then be hit with an average tax increase of $466. That same year, the child tax credit will be cut in half, costing 31 million Americans an average of $859 in more taxes."

"When the damage is tallied, 115 million working Americans would watch their taxes climb an average of $1,795, with 26 million small business owners being hit more than twice as hard at $3,960. The fact that these are average figures, incidentally, does not change the reality that taxes paid by middle-class families, not just the richest 1 percent, would be scheduled to go up under the Democratic plan."

"Taxpayers won't fare any better under the Senate's budget blueprint...[T]he plan championed by Democratic Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad would raise taxes by $2,641 per household over the next ten years."

Tax cuts work. They worked when JFK did it, when Reagan did it, and again when Bush did.

Here's what will happen if they eliminate the tax cut as planned:

... You're a family of four earning $60,000 a year: Your income-tax bill will rise 61% in 2011, from $3,030 to $4,893.

... You're an elderly couple earning $40,000 a year: Your taxes will go up by 156% in 2011, from $583 to $1,489.

... You're a woman: You could be one of the 83 million American women who could see their taxes rise by an average of $2,068.

... You're married: You could be one of the 48 million married couples who will pay an average of $2,899 more under the liberal tax increase.

... You have kids: 42 million families with children will pay an average of $2,181 more in taxes.

... You're a small-business owner: 26 million small-business owners will get a tax bill for an average of $3,960 more than before.

Democrats are socialists in liberal clothing. They want to be sure you keep less than half your money (when you add federal + state + local + sales + property, etc. taxes). The programs they use this money to support are ineffective.

Tax cuts let people keep more of the property they earned.

Fancy is a fabricator
"They [the wealthy] are using 95% of the PUBLIC resources, so they should be paying 95% of taxes" that is utter BS. This has been proven time and time again. Most of the money goes to entitlement programs, which the wealthy do not benefit from. People like Fancy must create fanciful lies because reality doesn't support their belief system, and rather than change, they lie. The rich pay the most and get the least.

The fact is that the effective federal tax rate (taxes as a share of income) has fallen for every income group over the last 20 years EXCEPT those with upper incomes.

For those in the bottom quintile (20 percent of the population), the tax burden has fallen from 8.3 percent in 1981 to 5.3 percent this year.

Those in the middle quintile saw a drop from 21.9 percent to 20 percent.

The other quintiles also saw a decline, except those in the top quintile, who saw an increase in their tax rate from 27.1 percent to 27.4 percent.
YOU FOOL ONCE WE TAX ON THE RICH THEY ARE GOING TO MOVE THEIR BUISNESSES ELSE WERE. THEN THE PEOPLE WORKING ON THOSE BUISNESSES WOULD NOT HAVE NOBODY PAYING THEM. THEN THE ECONOMY WILL GO DOWN

Answer
Raising taxes is liberal way of governance. More money for entitlements to buy their way into power. People are sick and tired of it. I know I am. There is a luxury subdivision not far from my home and it is stacked top to bottom with subsidized low income families. I've worked my ass off all of my life to have what I have and I can tell you now I will never ever be able to afford that type of housing, NEVER. When you do all the right things and you see crap like that and know YOU are the one paying for it, it boils your blood. The Dems get in and the first thing they start talking about it raising my taxes to pay for more useless BS programs. I can see the little money they do let me have flying right out of my pocket even as we speak.

I heard that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart used to spend about ten hours everyday for practicing. Is that true?

Human

Answer
I highly doubt that Mozart practiced 10 hours a day. It would almost be impossible for him to practice 10 hours a day and there were periods of time that he probably didn't practice for a couple weeks.

1. As a child he went on several tours to perform. The only method of travel during Mozart's time was horse and carriage. I trip from Salzburg to Italy which he did on 3 separate occasions probably took a month to. He may have been lucky to have a piano to practice on at an Inn where he and his father would rest at night. Chances that the Inn had a piano are slim, so during travel Mozart most likely didn't practice.

He had many travel days throughout his career - trips to Mannheim, Italy, Vienna, Paris, London, Amsterdam, Zurich and many more.

2. When Mozart was a child, he spent a significant amount of time composing. Since he didn't have the luxuries of a computer and notation software like Finale, it can be deduced that notating his compositions took a great deal of time. Mozart is said to be able to compose an entire piece in his head and then transcribe it to paper but even with his geniusness, it takes time to put things on paper! Remember they used ink that took a lot longer to dry than our ball points pens.

3. Even though Mozart was pressured by his father constantly, practicing was not an issue with Leopold. He knew his son was talented and understood that Wolfgang would practice seriously. Leopold watched over his son's practicing - both on piano and violin. Wolfgang did not practice without his father watching over as Leopold wanted to make sure everything was done properly and didn't want Wolfgang to develop bad habits and get lazy. Leopold knew that if was not watching over that Wolfgang would fall to this. Wolfgang was a mischievious child and his immaturity would always be a characteristic in his music and in his life as he grew up. Leopold also watched over Wolfgang sister Nannerl and her practice. Leopold was also won of the top string teachers in Salzburg and had many students. Leopold performed in the court orchestra and also composed. It is highly unlikely that Leopold could watch over Wolfgang practice for 10 hours!

3. When Mozart was married, he spent more time applying for jobs attempting to earn a post at a church to earn a living. He and Constanze did not have deep pockets, they were completely the opposite. They were poor... very poor. What ever Mozart could do to make money he did! He took on many commissions to provide for him and his family. I is said to compose operas in a month. To compose an opera in a month takes a lot of commitment to the score, therefore practicing 10 hours a day would be impossible.

Remember Mozart also taught, he had many students who were mostly female. During Mozart's time a piano lesson wasn't once a week for 1 hour. Lessons were every day. One could say lessons were supervised practice. The women he taught were well off and from upper class families. Many of the women would have 3 or 4 hour lessons with Mozart which included piano, violin and the study of counterpoint.

It would be impossible for Mozart to practice 10 hours a day with his teaching schedule, time committed to composition, travel days, searching for jobs, chamber rehearsals and rehearsing church choirs.

I'd like to buy my boyfriend a nice watch for Christmas. While I'm primarily looking for something he could use at the office (he works in a major personal wealth financial firm), it would be nice if the watch was a bit versatile as to be appropriate in casual situations as well. But this watch will be primarily used for work, where it's paramount that the watch be fashionable and appropriate. I'm looking to spend no more than $350.

I need to know:
1. Which types of watches are appropriate for businessmen, and would work well in casual settings too? (leather bands? metal bands? thick or thin? Chronograph? etc.)
2. Which brands are considered business appropriate? (Armani? CK? Hugo Boss? Lacoste? D&G?)

I'm a bit partial to some of these below, are any of these appropriate?

I need as detailed a response as possible as I know almost nothing about watches or finance culture. Thanks a bunch!

Answer
If your boyfriend is an I-Banker or works with clients at any time during his work day, I would recommend sticking to actual watchmakers. To explain, while these watches look nice and look good, they are what are called "fashion watches." These watches are only designed and then licensed by Armani, Burberry etc... (And fun fact.. FOSSIL actually makes most of the watches you listed... basically those Burberry, Armani, Michael Kors watches are fancy looking Fossil watches (see wiki link below).

Examples of luxury watchmakers are your Rolexes, Omegas, Tag Heuers, IWC, etc... and the list goes on... a Patek Philippe chronograph will set you back $150,000 to put it in perspective. But seriously, few of us have the means to even drop a $1000 for a watch. While I imagine some of your boyfriend's clients may be sporting car-priced timepieces on their wrists, there are definitely quality watches in the $350 range.

For the price range you gave, I would look into Citizen, Seiko and Tissot. These are excellent watchmakers and their watches are extremely reliable and well made. The Citizen Eco-Drive for instance is one of the best quartz watches on the market. When investing in a quality watch or product in general, a good thing to look for is a company that specializes in doing what they do. I would leave Hugo Boss to men's suiting rather than fine watches.

Stick with a stainless steel face and a brown strap. This is timeless and can be dressed up or down. Black leather strap watches (while black 'goes' with everythings) can look too dressy. Stick with a watch face between 38mm - 42mm. (see the Tissot link below)

Hope this helps!

What does inelastic and elastic demand mean ?

Fizza

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE !

1. Generate two lists, each with at least five goods and services that you have purchased recently, classifying each of the goods and services as having elastic or inelastic demand.

2. Calculate and discuss the elasticity if a movie rental fee increases from $1.99 to $2.99

THANK YOU TO ANYONE THAT CAN HELP ME :)

Answer
If demand is elastic, it means that demand for a product is sensitive to price changes. If demand is inelastic, it means that the demand for the product is not influenced by price changes to a great extent. Elastic demand tends to be the feature of luxury products or products that can be easily substituted, while inelastic demand is more common with necessities.

1. Elastic could be: movie tickets (you can watch TV if tickets are too expensive), vacations (you can just stay home instead), bus tickets (you can take the car, bike, train, plane, etc.), restaurant dinners (you can dine at home instead), branded clothes (you can buy non-branded clothes).
2. Inelastic could be: bread, electricity, flour, socks, water. If any of these get too expensive, you don't really have a choice but to pay the higher price.

Hi there.

Whether you have a shoestring budget or have the luxury of a big spend, it is worth trying to suit the gift to the recipient. If its something she really needs, and best of all likes, it makes it really worth the trouble and the effort. The joy on her face is reward enough!

Letâs check out some options:

1. Jewellry:
. You could gift her a necklace, pendant, earrings, bangles, bracelet, or a ring.

2. Clothing :
Most women feel they never have enough outfits be it for work, social occasions or even the gym. If you gift her an outfit, moreover in a shade or style she doesnât already have, sheâll be over the moon.Do keep in mind a style that will suit her. . Try and have her size or her measurements readily available or at least ensure you donât buy something at a sale unless youâve checked that it can be exchanged.

3. Accessories :
Like never before, accessories are playing a major role in enhancing an outfit. Add a dash of glamour to a simple pair of denims and a white shirt with a really cool leather belt. Or add to her eveningwear accessory collection with a designer clutch purse. Or even a trendy but utilitarian bag to carry to the office. Make it a little roomy to store the million little things that women love to!

4. Watch:
From the delicate to the funky, watches are cool gifts for a lady. From leather straps, to bracelet ones, oval dials and gold embellishments, you know the kind she may be keen on so go ahead and treat her. Try and get one that has a warranty of at least one year.

5. Lingerie:
From the sexy to the practical, womenâs innerwear has unlimited options. Itâs a very popular gift between lovers but do get the size right. Itâs really not ideal to be holding up your hands and saying âthis muchâ or âthat bigâ when the salesgirl tries to help you out! Or even worse to run your eyes over her and say, âsheâs about your size!â Women love to receive lingerie from their partners. Thereâs something very sweet about the idea of those masculine hands going through delicate scraps of lace trying to unearth the right gift!

6. Beauty treatment:
If youâd like to pamper your woman, you could gift her a massage or a spa session or even a beauty package, which may include a facial, manicure and pedicure. Sheâll be thinking good thoughts of you while sheâs enjoying the soothing treatment.

7. Kitchen products:
If sheâs the domesticated kind and takes pride in her culinary skills gift her something that she will use and enjoy. Maybe a cookbook of Thai cuisine that sheâs never experimented with or an appliance sheâs wanted to buy. You may be lucky enough to be invited to a good Thai meal!

8. Knickknacks:
There are a variety of curios or ornaments to choose from if you know sheâs house proud or redecorating and you know sheâd really like something youâve spied. Scented candles, artfully packed potpourri, crystal, fluted glasses, or china the list is never ending.

Try this Example. I hope this works for u.

Good luck.

Why did my guy roommate ask me this?!?

Audrey Z

I lived with this guy as roommates in an apartment for about 6 months. We're still friends, but he has a serious GF, and we've never even talked about anything even remotely sexual.

Well, the other night he was drunk and just asked me out of the blue if I ever thought about making out with him or sleeping with him when we lived together.

I don't really understand why he would want to know this? Should I just ignore it and continue being friends?

Answer
As you know, alcohol is a depressant and can remove some inhibitions temporarily (example: That horrible night you started singing 'You're the Best' by Joe the Bean Esposito after a night of jello shots watching the Karate Kid movie marathon). The fact that your friend was drunk probably means that he had a sudden urge to know your answer and it has nothing to do with his relationship with his girlfriend.

Being a guy, I can honestly say that we usually keep our mouths shut when expressing sexual interest can screw (no pun intended) something up for us at home or work. So, since you are no longer in a living situation with this guy and he's known you for a while, it might simply be something he wanted to know. It's not necessarily an indication that he wants to sleep with you as much as reinforcement of his own ego.

If this friend brings up the question again or makes some further indications he has the hots for you, gently reinforce your friendship and that you were happier not knowing his sexual interest in you. You could also tell him to cool it or you'll stop being friends, or sever the relationship altogether. I have a feeling he'll be more embarassed than anything else - having a friend that is a girl while dating another woman is all to rare a luxury for guys and I'd personally be upset with myself if putting my foot in my mouth like that ruined a perfectly good friendship.

Answer
Set two years after the first film, the film begins with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) meeting up with each other at a shop in New York which turns into a flashback to how Carrie first meets Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda in 1986 in New York City.

The film then jumps to the present, two years after the events of the first film. At the Connecticut same-sex wedding of Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson) and Anthony Marentino (Mario Cantone), Liza Minnelli appears to officiate the wedding vows and sings Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)".
The four friends now have lives that are more stressful than before: All are married except Samantha, who is now 52 and trying to keep her libido alive with hormones while dealing with menopause. Miranda quits her job after the new managing partner disrespects her once too often. Charlotte's two children are a handful and she's worried that Harry is attracted to their buxom Irish nanny, Erin (Alice Eve).

Carrie's marriage to Mr. Big (Chris Noth) has settled down, though they differ on how to spend their spare time: she loves to go out, he would prefer to stay home every night, eating take-out meals and watching television. For their anniversary, Carrie gives Mr. Big a vintage Rolex watch engraved with a romantic message, while he, much to her dismay, shows her a new television in their bedroom as his gift, which Big says they can use to watch old movies together as they did on vacation. Carrie is disappointed, as she had hoped for jewelry as a gift. She asks to spend some personal time alone in her old apartment, but Big enjoys the time to himself even more than she does, and to Carrie's dismay, asks to make it a weekly occurrence.

Meanwhile, Samantha has been approached by an Arab sheikh to devise a PR campaign for his business. He offers to fly her and her friends on an all-expenses-paid luxury vacation to Abu Dhabi. The girls happily accept, although Carrie is worried about the separation from Big and Charlotte is worried about leaving her husband alone with the nanny. Only Miranda, unfettered by a job for the first time in her life, plunges enthusiastically into studying Arabic and planning sightseeing.

Upon entering Abu Dhabi, Samantha's hormone-enhancing drugs are confiscated under UAE law. This renders her devoid of estrogen; to her great dismay, her famous libido goes dead, unaroused even by Australian men in Speedo swimwear. Charlotte tries to call Harry every few minutes. Miranda revels in the luxury surrounding her, while Carrie befriends her manservant, Gaurau (Raza Jaffrey), and learns of his long distance marriage - he can only afford to see his wife back in India once every few months.

While out shopping at the local souk with Miranda, Carrie runs into her former lover, Aidan (John Corbett). He proposes dinner à deux at his hotel, but she is noncommittal. The next day, however, she is crushed at reading a negative critique of her new book in The New Yorker, and decides to meet Aidan for dinner, although Charlotte cautions her not to play with fire. The dinner is very enjoyable, with the two discussing old times. Aidan remarks on the ways Carrie is "not like other women", pointing out that when they were engaged, she would only wear her engagement ring on a chain around her neck; now that she's married, she still isn't wearing a diamond on her ring finger, only her wedding ring. In a moment of remembered passion, they kiss. Carrie runs away in a panic and returns to the hotel.

Meanwhile, back at the hotel, Miranda and Charlotte have drinks together and discuss the difficulties of motherhood. Miranda admits painfully that being a mother is not enough for her and that she misses her job. Charlotte confesses her guilt at enjoying her time away from her daughters and her frustration with trying to be the perfect mother at all times. She drinks so many cocktails to bolster her courage to be honest with Miranda that she becomes very tipsy.

At this point, Carrie bursts into the room, crying, "I played with fire!". After summoning Samantha, she tells her friends about the kiss, and asks them whether or not she should tell Big, as she says they have no secrets between them. Miranda reflects on the events of the previous film, when her husband, Steve (David Eigenberg), told her about his affair and how in retrospect, while it helped clear his conscience, she is not sure that knowing was worth the pain she went through. Charlotte is too drunk to be any help, but Carrie already knows where she stands. Samantha counsels Carrie to wait and sleep on it before deciding anything.

Nice watch for my mom this Christmas?

Kyle

I want to get my mom a nice watch for Christmas. I would like to keep my purchase under $350 if at all possible. I was thinking something along the lines of this:

it is $296 on Amazon.
But I am not sure what a good brand is, or if this is a good watch for the money.
I know she wouldn't like anything too big and too flashy, so I am trying to keep it on the smaller side and avoid something that stands out too much. I think she prefers mostly silver.

If you guys could recommend me any good quality watches, watch brands, or even a decent place to purchase watches your help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Answer
Rolex watches are the ultimate luxury watches, but they would be out of your price range unless you buy them on ebay.
Good watch brands include Swatch, Citizen, Seiko, Casio, and designer watches like Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY, Armani, all of which would come within your price range.

The website I linked just lists some brands and price comparisons that you may find helpful

Do you think the ideal of having soft, shiny hair has a negative effect on girls who have naturally coarse hair?

Answer
Because in the real WORLD, people don't want to see something that is positive, and natural Afros the fluffy kind make one NEGATIVE. That's like eating hamburger everyday, when people could afford Filet Mignon. They don't want to show, this country is so poor, and going to the salon, is something positive that made US more luxury and because that's what OTHER COUNTRIES think of USA.

âI think hair can say a lot about how we see ourselves â if it looks like you just fell out of bed, it implies that you don't care about your appearance, which to me indicates poor self-esteem,â says Flowers. âI don't think you have to have on a full face of makeup before going out to get the mail, but a person who is going out in public should be clean and tidy. âHe didnât like the idea at all and he asked me not to do it,â King said. Soon after, she did it anyway.
After sharing her hair story on-air, King was deluged with emails from viewers, including many women who colored and some who worried she had fallen ill. âThe response was overwhelmingly positive,â King said. âThey said it was a relief for them, that they could see someone that made it OK to be gray.â

how long does it take to get tan in a bed?

ERIKA!

i went to a tanning bed today because i want to get tan. my skin color now is slightly olive and i want to get a good bronze on my skin before summer begins. today i stood in the tanning bed for only 3 minutes because it was my first time, but over time my time will increase. how many times will i have to go to get a dark tan?

btw, im using "Unbelievably Black ProTan Tanning Lotion"

Answer
My nephew had a membership in a tanning bed salon for a year. After it expired, he stopped, now he's as white as before he began.

Tanning comes & go, unless you do them everyday 24/7 for the rest of your life. But in the end the only thing you'll benefit is either moles, freckles, skin tags or discolorations from sunscreens, lotions, etc. and the more you do, the more they get larger, darker & bumpier.

Tanning, is a result for 'damaged skin' and no products can reverse you from skin cancer or damaged skin, may prevent you from pre-mature aging, but that's part of the billion dollar beauty industry.
A new study conducted by the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Dermatology has found that tanning bed exposure can be dangerous when tanners self-diagnose skin problems and use the radiation to treat skin eruptions. The study specifically found that a tanning bed user that used the radiation to treat a mild skin rash caused by an ibuprofen allergy developed a much more severe reaction called toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). When left untreated, TEN can be fatal.
Melanoma is the leading cause of death from skin disease. An estimated 76,259 new cases of skin cancer will be reported particularly among women in their 20's & 30's, and that's 6,020 more than 2011, people died from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute. Two million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the US each year, according to the EPA's Sun-Wise Program. That's more than breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer cases combine! Now however, a recently published study suggests that those people with ginger hair and fair complexions face a much higher risk of developing dead skin cancer even if they are completely protected.

Who cares if you have white skin, at least you will look beautiful when you get in your 50's, and girls with whiter skin will look YOUNGER looking in their 50's if you know how to preserve your skin. There's a reason why Robert Pattinson is so popular with the girls. His face has a kind of gorgeousness one sees in the faces of children, with its perfect pale skin, red lips, large eyes. It's hard to say it any other way: he's beautiful.

I've been protecting myself from the sun since age 9, but no matter, I got Discoid Lupus. Google that one. It was like someone punched my chin and it gave a purplish mark. It took 12 years for that to fade, so now I'm using a wide brim hat or umbrella for protection. Gene Simmons & Shannon both have been seen hold an umbrella during an event. They were invented before beauty products, for a reason. Google also Bullous Pemphegoid, photos, another skin disorder.

If you've got acne or pimple scars tanning will only make them permanently discolored.

urgent; best website to purchase remy human hair extensions from?

Q. I won't buy from Luxy because a lot of girls have told me they scam their clients and give them less hair extensions than what they actually pay for and the quality doesn't last very long. Foxy Locks is always sold out of the extensions I want. I'm thinking of Bella Mi hair extensions, they're a new Canadian hair extension brand, but they look very promising from some Youtube videos I watched. Any help would be much appreciated!

What should I know about car seats before I buy one?

luxury watches for sale cheap
on Rating of prices for watches : Sale Designer watches in Sherbrooke
luxury watches for sale cheap image

chloe

I need a car seat for my 12month old (FAST) she 's really outgrown it. But I don't really know what to look for. What makes a good car seat? What should I watch out for? I went to buy one today, but there were so many, and the salesperson didn't know much. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Remember these rules:
1)the BEST seat is the one that fits your child, fits your car, and will be used correctly 100% of the time. (This is why convenience features DO make a difference and ARE worth the money! If its easy to use, you're more likely to use it correctly.
2)Children should stay rear facing AS LNOG AS POSSIBLE!!!! The 20lbs/1 year rule is outdated and provides a bare minimum for turning kids forward facing. The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration both recommend keeping kids rear facing as long as possible, up to the limits of their seat, preferably until at least 2 years of age. For good reason: A forward-facing child under 2 years old is 4 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured in a crash than a rear-facing child of the same age. A child's vertabrae do not fully fuse until 3-6 years old, before then, she is at great risk for internal decapitation. The spinal column can stretch up to 2 inches in a crash BUT the spinal cord can only stretch up to 1/4 inch before it snaps and baby is gone. In other countries, rear facing 2 - 3 - 4 year olds is standard, they understand that its safer. Here, we turn them as soon as we get to, seeing it as a right of passage thing or something. Ridiculous. Most convertible seats have a 30lbs rear facing limit, Cosco/Dorel/Safety1st/Eddie Bauer seats rear face to 35lbs, Britax rear faces to 33lbs.
3)Once you do turn them forward facing, they need to stay in a 5 point harness as long as possible. 4 years/40lbs is the minimum for riding in a booster, and most 4 year olds have no business using one yet. If they can't sit upright for an entire trip, they need the harness of a car seat still. And, even if they do sit properly, a 5 point harness is safer, so you want to keep them in one as long as possible. This is important to consider b/c most car seats only forward face to 40lbs. My son just turned 3, and is in the 95th% for height and weight - 40" tall and weighs 41lbs. He outgrew the 40lbs seats shortly after his 2nd birthday. It was a total waste of money. He now has a Britax Marathon, which goes to 65lbs, and will be able to fit it for some time yet. If I'd have bought it when he was born, I could have had one car seat this whole time instead of the 3 I wasted money on. They are more expensive for many reasons, this is one.

So...knowing all that, here's some about specific seats. Please don't get a Graco Comfort Sport. Car seat techs call it the 'crappysport'. LOL Its a crappy seat that won't last your child very long b/c it has a really short shell. The straps twist all the time, and if they're twisted they won't support your child in a wreck properly. They're hard to install. There's nothing good about these seats except perhaps they're cheap sometimes. Ditto the Safety1st 3-in-1/Cosco Alpha Omega/Eddie Bauer 3-in1 seats. These are all the same company - same seat, just different covers. They stink. Hard to install, b/c of narrow belt paths. Ever tried to wash a skinny cup by hand? Now imagine that skinny cup with pointy edges. That's what putting your hand through these to install them is like. AND they have too short a shell to really go to 40lbs. And they do not make good boosters. Also, most kids have to use boosters until they're at least 8 years old. Car seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture, so no matter what they say it is NOT the last seat you'll ever need to buy.

The Britax Marathon/Boulevard/Decathalon (These 3 are the same seat, just different variances of luxury additions, with the Marathon being the cheapest base model) can be found for regular price of $269, and on sale at Albee Baby online for $209-$219. The Marathon a wide open easy to route belt path, which makes using it correctly a lot easier, as do the built in lockoffs, which mean you never again have to use a locking clip. I can get it into 4 different vehicles in under 2 minutes. Because of the way the base is made, it fits in most cars. And, it is worth the money, b/c it lasts usually twice as long as most other car seats (all car seats expire 6 years after the date of manufacture) lasting a baby till they are 5-6 years old, where most at Walmart will only last till 2-4 years old. Rear faces to 33lbs, then forward to 65lbs. and top slots 17inches tall, lasts most kids to ages 5-6 years old.

The Evenflo Triumph Advance (not the original Triumph, make sure it says Advance) is a great seat. $150 version at Babies R Us has padding similar to Britax seats, top slots of 17", harnesses to 35lbs rear facing, and 50lbs forward facing. $120 Walmart version just has little less plush padding. Wide open belt path, easy to install, though it doesn't have built in lockoffs. The harness adjusts at the front of the car seat, you don't have to take the car seat out of the car just to raise/lower the straps. It's one of only 2 seats that does this (The Britax Boulevard is the other, I believE), and it has infinite harness adjustment so the harness always fits perfectly until its outgrown. No more tugging straps to tighten them either. You tighten and loosen the harness using knobs on the side of the seat. As a major bonus, it can be used in a recline position even in forward facing mode. Awesome for kids who still sleep in the car. I LOVE THIS SEAT! LOL My son, who is too big for every other car seat at Walmart has the same amount of room in this as the Britax Marathon.

The Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe Convertible seat is great, it is made by Britax, without all the frills. It's the same shell as a Marathon, but for less than half the price. $130 at Albee Baby online with free shipping, or at their eBay name, babysurplus. Rear faces to 33lbs, forward to 55lbs. Easy to use, fits in most cars.

These are the best you can buy that will give you the most bang for your buck. As a single parent I'm always watching the budget - I have no money to speak of, and these are what I would buy. (My son has a marathon and is soon getting a Britax Regent). They will last the longest. I only wish someone would've told me all this before I had him, I coulda saved some money for the extra seats I started out with!

All seats in the US must meet the same safety criteria to sell, so technically they all are safe, however, if its hard to install, then it won't be used correctly and that makes it unsafe. Also, they only must meet the guidelines, some seats barely pass, some exceed them. Britax exceeds the guidelines and is easy to use.

How can I find buyers for my house (for sale by owner)?

MiaC

I want to sell my house without using a realtor. What are some good ways to advertise my house or otherwise let people know it's for sale?

Answer
When you have your own home-for-sale website you are able to market your property extensively on the world wide web. One of the best ways to do that is on internet real estate directories.

For either no charge or minimal charge you are able to list properties on these directories which are available to property buyers within the entire United States, and sometimes the entire world.

The best idea is to look for directories that are real estate related. These will help get you the most traffic to your property website. Listing in a directory of electronics stores won't help you much.

You will also want to list your property in directories that have been around for quite a while and have a high "page rank" within Google's index. Google search results put high page rank sites first.

There are many good directories where you will be able to list your property for sale. To save time you might want to consult with a real estate internet marketing firm and let them help you set up your directory listings properly. That's what I do for my clients.

If you are selling your home by yourself you are probably wondering whether and where you should spend money to advertise. This is a great question because newspaper and magazine ads are very expensive and you have to keep paying over and over -- every week and every month.

There is evidence to suggest that when it comes to real estate advertising the cheapest way might be the best way. It turns out that small, inexpensive classified advertisements yield large results for FSBO home sellers.

Here is something to think about: when do you read classified ads? Most people read these ads only when they want to buy something specific. They do not browse classified advertisements for fun and recreation. They browse them to see if they can find what they want to buy.

For this reason the leads you get from the little, cheap ads are among the best you can obtain anywhere, by any means. When people call, email, or visit a website from a classified ad it is solely because they have a very high level of interest in buying what you are selling.

There are two main considerations when writing a classified ad for your home:

1. You must write a headline for your ad that grabs the attention of people browsing through the ads, and
2. You must be very concise with the words used in the ad itself, to make sure you achieve your goal.

There is only one goal you have with your home-for-sale advertisement: to motivate the reader to take action. The actions you want taken include the following:

1. Call your phone number,
2. Send you an email, or
3. Visit your website and register their name and email address on your lead capture page.

To effectively use classified ads you should have your own home-for-sale website that you can optimize for Google searches and also use as a lead-capture vehicle. This is how you can get a sale from cheap advertising.

Here are other ways to advertise your home:

Magazine Ads

You won't be taking out ads in Time magazine, but you might want to consider ads in local magazines or specialized trade magazines, depending on the type of property you are selling. In my area there is a Chesapeake Bay monthly magazine which is a great place to advertise properties that are on or near the Chesapeake Bay.

Radio Ads

These really don't work for real estate ads because people listening to the ads are usually driving or working and can't write down the necessary information.

Television Ads

Because you can now buy targeted ads from your local cable provider, TV ads are something to seriously consider. This would be for high priced luxury properties, for example. You can get the cable company to produce the ad to save money. You can run the ad during shows your target market watches, such as the evening business report. It might work, but you'd have to test it on a trial basis to see your response.

Internet Ads

The question here is not whether to do it -- because you must do it. The question is where to advertise and how much to advertise online. There are dozens of places you can advertise your property for sale that do not cost anything more than the time it takes for someone to post the ad online. You'll want to consider a professional real estate internet marketing firm to handle this part of it, because they know where to post and what to post to get results.

You'll want to consider paid advertisements also, because often they are very cheap on the internet. You can get inexpensive home listing ads on real estate and local web directories. You can even put up a banner ad on some pertinent local websites. Get a professional to help you with these ads also, to save you money and get the most bang for the buck.

whats the difference between a cheap watch and an expensive brand ie rolex, omega etc.?

high end luxury watches brands image

yep

I have always loved buying watches but all my life i have gone with less expensive brands (quartz) I would just like to know what I am buying when I buy a more expensive brand such as omega, rolex, etc. The specs are sometimes identical. why would someone spend so much money?

Answer
Captain Obvious is correct about a few things, but not all.

For the most part, there isn't much of a difference (functionally) between a $50 quartz watch and a $2,000 quartz watch. Quite obviously, there will be a better quality product -- both in terms of aesthetics and finish as well as in terms of reliability and quality of timekeeping. Otherwise, both tell time fairly well.

However, the differences start showing when you are looking at mechanical watches that do not use Quartz, such as Automatics. These watches are mechanical marvels that can do some pretty darn interesting and complicated things. The advantage of an Automatic over a Quartz, of course, is that the good ones are built to last and you can pass it on to your next generation.

In that regard, a lot of the watches may seem the same (i.e. they tell time - duh). However, remember that with luxury watches, you are paying for it as a piece of expensive jewelry and art. The fact that it tells time is secondary.

Therefore, the difference therefore comes in *how* a watch tells time -- i.e. what mechanism (or movement) does it use, how well does it work, what else can it do, how well was it made, who made it, where was it made, what materials were used etc. In that regard, there is a world of difference in the tiers.

You've beginner luxury brands -- Raymond Weil, Longines, Stowa etc. Great watches, very reliable and use standard "movements" with excellent quality construction -- but nothing special. Not particularly expensive (less than $2,000 usually).

Then you have the mid tier brands. Within the mid tier brands, you've the lower mid tier and the higher mid tier brands.

In the lower mid tier, you have Omega, Rolex, Breitling, IWC etc -- around $2,000 - $10,000. About the same as the beginner (mostly), but slightly better quality and finish, and better brand name. In the higher mid tier brands, you get brands like Girard Perregaux, Breguet, and even IWC. Much better quality -- and you start getting into "custom" movements and "complications" that do some really amazing and cool mechanical things, and they are usually between $10,000 - $50,000. Their finish and quality tends to be rather outstanding, and they are not as commonly found.

Both the beginner and mid-tier brands are pretty reliable, and adhere to COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) standards of timekeeping accuracy, even when they don't have to. More than likely, a cheap $50 watch -- or even some of the "branded" $1,000 watch (think Armani or Guess watches) -- will fail at these standards.

Finally, then you get into the truly higher end brands -- Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, Audemar Piguet, A. Lange & Söhne, etc. These guys make mechanical marvels, and they maintain the market by producing only a handful of truly outstanding pieces that pretty much take several top notch master watchmakers years to make their timepieces. These can go into the millions. And remember -- in this category, it's less about it being a watch and more about prestige, art, and the fact that you own one of a kind mechanical marvel.

At the end of the day, you must remember that once you leave the functional realm, watches become status symbols, and ergo Veblen goods (i.e. people buy them *because* they are expensive and elitist). You end up with "snob effect", where people want to use exclusive products, and price becomes associated with quality. Unfortunately, the side effect is the "bandwagon effect", where everyone wants to use exclusive products, and the demand for high-priced goods goes up. Consequently, the price of the already high-priced goods goes up.

If it helps, you should check out manufacturers like Parnis [1] or Sea Gull [2] -- Chinese watchmakers that make rather excellent watches comparable to lower end Swiss watch makers at a much lower price point.

Either way, watches are rather interesting, and you'd be amazed at just what's out there. Enjoy!

There have been four generations of Mazda automobiles which went by the name of Cosmo, although they are not all particularly related. All were GT cars, with the first proving a successful launch for the Mazda Wankel engine and acting as a halo vehicle for the new Mazda brand. Later Cosmos competed in the ultra-high luxury performance market in Japan with the final JC Cosmo (1990-1995) sold as the Eunos Cosmo - Eunos was a luxury sales channel similar to Toyota's Lexus brand.

I want to lose some weight and get healthy skin?

I want to lose 10 lbs, but more then that I just want my tummy to look flat and pretty. As for my skin I try everything ugggh... I need some easy way to help my skin man.

Answer
Hello '')
To lose 10lbs will be easy just follow a healthy diet & exercise plan and you will lose it in a month. These should help. Search these on youtube. Yahoo won't let me post them. Sorry :

8 Minute Abs.
8 Minute Legs.
8 Minute Buns.
8 Minute Arms.
8 Minute Stretch.

Here are some tips for beautiful skin :

* Don't go to bed with makeup on. Makeup left on overnight seeps into your pores, clogs them, and congests your skin. Make sure that you wash your face twice at the end of the day. Once to get the makeup off. A second time to wash the skin itself.

* Exfoliate daily. After washing your face at night, be sure to exfoliate. Use a delicate scrub. If you don't have one on hand, a tablespoon of sugar or oatmeal will work just fine.

* Use facial masks regularly. If possible, everyday is ideal. Again, if you don't have one on hand, make your own. Mashed banana or avocado is good. Plain yogurt also works well.

* Keep a treatment and moisturizer on your face, day or night. Put your skin first. After you wash it at night, put on some kind of skin treatment, whether it's alpha hydroxy acids, vitamin A or C, or any kind of special cocktail treatment. Let that sink in, then put a moisturizer over that. In the morning, do the same.

* Don't use the cheapest or most expensive cosmetics. Mom tells me that moderately priced cosmetics are the best. They get the job done, and the ingredients are usually pretty good. You have to keep trying various brands until you find something that works well for you.

* Hydrate your face throughout the day. Whether it's a commercial product, or one you make yourself (fill a spray bottle with distilled water, add a few drops of chamomile or rose essential oil, shake it gently before each use, and spray it on) hydrate your face, even over makeup, frequently throughout the day.

* Treat your face gently. Never pull, tug, or scrub your facial skin. Be very gentle when you clean it, moisturize it or makeup on it. This will lessen the chance that you'll damage your skin and get wrinkles.

* Keep your face covered when you're in the sun. As beautiful as she is, my mom never lets anyone see her face when she's in the sun. She'll slather on a high factor sunscreen, put on sunglasses, and a wide brimmed hat.

* Eat fresh foods and drink lots of water. My mom tells me to stay away from "dead food" food that's basically not fresh. She always eat lots of veggies, fruits, nuts, and drinks tons of water.

* Let go of stress. Stress can show up on your face, no matter how well you take care of your skin. Do something your enjoy everyday, whether it's watching TV or going shopping. Your face reflects what's going on inside of your mind.

Is the probability of my cat getting worms from his fleas high?

.:Kimberly

My 13 year old cat has gotten fleas for the first time I treated him a few weeks back he got them again and now I'm going to treat him again. Besides that to the point I know cats can get worms from fleas. What is the possibility of a cat getting worms from fleas? He grooms himself constantly even without fleas... I think he'll be traumatized if he does get worms and has to go to the vet. And he hasn't really been scratching since the flea treatment but he has little black, curly almost, specs all over what are they, and how do I get them off him?

Answer
There's no known probability that fleas will be carrying tapeworms. Lots of pets get fleas and no-one ever finds tapeworms. Lots of pets get diagnosed with tapeworms first, and THEN the fleas are found afterwards. Lots of pets get fleas, and are later diagnosed with tapeworms. Just watch and wait. if he gets tapes, then eventually you'll see them on his rear end or in the litter box as little rice-like segments.

But if your cat needs to go to the vet, he won't be traumatized. In fact, he NEEDS regular checkups to stay healthy. Perhaps you could find a place that specializes in cat care and will do everything possible to minimize stress.

The black specks sound like flea dirt. (Flea dirt is another name for flea poop.) They will wash off or be groomed off easily once the fleas are gone. You don't need to worry too much about them. If they bother you, give your cat a good bath, then apply a spot-on flea treatment 24 to 48 hours later. (If you apply it too soon after a bath, it doesn't work well.)

There are a few possible reasons for the return of the fleas. One is that if you used a pet store brand, and not a veterinary product like Frontline Plus, Advantage, or Revolution, they don't work very well at killing fleas. Another is that if you have any untreated pets in your house, they are letting the fleas live off them until your cat is available again.

But the third and most important reason is that only 5-10% of your flea problem is the adult fleas on your cat. The rest is the immature stages all around your house (and outside, too, if your cat goes outdoors). It takes about 2 months or longer for fleas to go from egg to adult, and the pupa stage can't be killed by any method known to man. So if you treated for one month only, you just killed all the adults. You left the immature stages alone to mature. Now they've hatched and re-infested your cat.

It takes a good solid 3-4 months of continuous treatment before all the fleas mature, get killed by the spot-on product, and die without leaving any more eggs in your house. And if you use Frontline Plus or Revolution, these products make sure any eggs the fleas do manage to lay are sterile. It gets the problem controlled much faster.

Differenes between the early 1900's and now?

If anyone could tell me some of the differences between the way of life now, as compared to the early 1900's that would be amazing and I would really appreciate it.

Also any good websites comparing now and then would be great as well. Thank you so much.

Answer
In 1900 a person was still likely to find him or herself squatting over a foul fetid hole in an outhouse or sharing a toilet with dozens of others. Even in a 'luxury' hotel or on an Ocean Liner the bathroom was down the hall and shared by dozens! These days even the poorest of the poor have access to indoor plumbing (mostly) and those with homes most often have multiple toilets.
A person in 1900 most likely owned a couple of shirts, a good suit, a couple of pairs of pants, and all were either scratchy wool or cotton requiring ironing to get out wrinkles. NO polyesters or other 'modern' fabrics - - - and clothing was still scarce in 1900 with T-shirts worn beneath a button up SHIRT -- --- --- casual clothing was frowned upon even for the poor!
Movies were brand new, silent and rarely longer than ten minutes in duration. There was no television in 1900. Those of modest middle class means might own an upright piano and the average family enetertained themselves with musical evenings, the children encouraged to learn an instrument or to polish their voices. Newspapers were a big deal in the early 1900s and most homes received a morning as well as a late afternoon or evening paper. People actually read a great deal during the early 1900s - - - magazines and paperback books, 'cheapies' were availible everywhere and so people staved off boredom with books and conversations, real actual face to face conversations.
Though telephones had been around since the 1880s a monopoly by AT & T froze progress. Most everyone shared a party line, so 'dirty' conversations were not encouraged since, much like the toilets of the era, as many as a dozen people might share a single phone line. And when one placed a phone call it was through an operator, no direct dialing, no area codes, one simply picked up the receiver and shouted something along the lines of "I need Northside 88," and a scratchy women's voice would say, "I will see if I can connect you, sir."
Spinster women were the majority of phone operators. It was thought immoral for young women to serve as phone operators since they might strike up a liason with the caller.
In the early 1900s Vaudeville was still King. People many in family groups would spend hours at a theater watching a variety of ten to fifteen minute live acts; a 'dumb' act done silent auch as acrobatings or dancing, a 'dialect' comedian who specialized in Yiddish Humor or Irish Humor or Deutch/German Humor, a singer often accopanied only by a pianist singing four or five songs, a roustabout pratfall comedian, s specialty act such as plate spinning, and so on, with only the top billed enteratainers repeating their act once more during the night.
(By now you will have gathered that you can provide the contrast for 'now')...
The big Sport in the early 1900s was Baseball - - - there was as yet no Professional Football, but, in season, College Football was big and entire communities supported their local University or College. Baseball was king and a majority of Americans could rattle of stats and tell you the names of more than a dozen players. Baseball Stars adorned everyday magazines and in the off season took to the Vadeville Circut giving demonstrations of their talents or even singing or doing comedy for their fans...
Food was purchased almost daily, there was 'ice boxes' in a few homes, cold boxes chilled by blocks of ice but no true refrigerators. Many people dined out at cheap eateries, or heated cans of chili over a hot plate.
Horses were still the main stay of transportation though the average person could rarely afford a horse! Horses pulled street cars, hauled produce to street markets, pulled hearses and carts. Autos were a new thing and just starting to take off. The introduction of the Ford Model T toward the end of the first decade made it possible for millions to purchase a motor vehicle.
The greatest similarity though between then and now was how rapidly people adopted to change and embraced change. In 1900 autos were acrace the airplane unknown and movies were known as 'flickers,' less than 5 minutes in lenth and mostly used to chase people out of theaters shoing live acts. By 1910 the auto was on everyones to buy list, airplanes were the rage, and movies were nudging out theater and vaudeville and big movie palaces were being constructed by 1914.

Peace///////\\\\\\

PS If I had a timne machine then 1890 nto 1920 New York would be my destination!

Double PS and yes there was Crime the more sensational the better to sell newspapers!!! Oh and no radio until the 1920s! Music was called rag time and people were really getting into kicking up their heels. Go watch Charlie Chaplin Comedies for a trip to the past!

You're talking about Steinhausen watches - it's originally a jewish watch company. The watches are not high end, they're affordable wrist watches, but not high end. Rolex, Movado, Poljot, Rado, etc these are considered high-end.
