Im thinking of getting a movado watch for my wife's b-day is that a good present? is it a luxury watch?

tommy

I would spend up to $1000 or a little more if nesscesary

Answer
Does she like expensive jewelry??? Does she wear a watch??? Personally, I wouldn't find value in a $1K watch (the one I got for $18 tells time just fine, and is real cute) so it wouldn't suit just any woman...you know her, so you should know what she likes...I've never heard of that brand, so can't say if it's a good brand or not (but IMO, no watch is worth that much)...

What will be a good woman watch for Valentine day present?

saalanghae

I'm looking to buy my wife a new watch for upcoming Valentines day. She already have few luxury watches (Omega w/ diamonds, Fendy, Gucci, Rolex SS.. etc). She is in mid 30s and don't like it too flashy. I'm somewhat interested in Technomarine Ceramique watch but open for anyother recommendations. What are popular brands nowadays anyway?

Thank you in advance.

Answer
She really want another watch? Since she had already had so many of it. I found some silver bracelets are really amazing. The one named "butterfly loves flowers forever" is best to express your love to your real soul mate at that special day.

Looking to buy new wrist watch...leaning toward bulova, are they reliable?

D Roberts

Its time to get myself a xmas gift. I have been looking at watches for a couple months now. At first i was looking to spend anywhere from $400-$1000, as long as i got something that looked and felt of luxury. However, i visted a kay jewler and took a look at the bulova watch set. I liked the style of the watches and the prices were all under $600, with a much more expensive and exquisite look. My question is are they worth it? Would it be much different to spend 3-$400 more for a different brand?Im not necessarily looking for a diamond watch but i tried this one on and i really liked the look. It had some shine because of the diamonds and black interface but not too much(i think diamond bezels look tacky unless you have 5 + carats)

Bradman Fantasy Q:- Can Bradman keep this average under these circumstances to surpass Sachin?

Here I am going to make a fair comparison between Sachin and Bradman to find out the best test batsman from Sir Bradman and (Sir) Bharath Rathnam Sachin.

These are the test international records of Bradman and Sachin

Bradman Mat Inns NO Runs Highest Average
âââââ__52_80__10__6996_334___99.94___
300 200 100 50 sixes
_2__12__29_13_6

Sachin Mat Inns N O. Runs Highest Average
ââââ_181_298_32__14965_248*_56.25____
300 200 100 50 sixes
_0__5___51_61_64

To keep this simple let's subtract the not out innings from the played innings of this two. Bcz when counting the average the not out innings will be ignored. Bradman (80-10= 70) Sachin (298-32=266)

Bradman has scored 6996 off 70 innings(out innings) and averaged 99.94
Sachin has scored 14965 off 266 innings(out innings) and averaged 56.25

Now it is unfair to compare a batsman who played 70 innings with some one who played 266. So let's level the play field. Let's imagine that Bradman will get an opportunity to play the same number of tests/innings Sachin has played. So he will have to play 129 more tests /196 more innings.
So to have a better record than Sachin, let's say Bradman have to score 1000 more runs(to have a better average than Sachin) and one more hundred and a fifty than Sachin after playing the same number of tests(181) and innings (266) as Sachin. In other words Bradman needs 15965(14965+1000) runs, 52 hundreds and 62 fifties. Plus 59 more sixes lolz! He dont need to score any more 200's or 300's bcz already he has scored more of them than Sachin. Got it?
Bradman has already scored 6996 runs of 70 innings. To have a better record and average than Sachin, Bradman needs to finish with 15965(14965+1000) runs in exact number of innings as Sachin (266). So he needs further 8969 runs in 196 innings.
So this is what exactly Bradman needs to finish with a step ahead of Sachin.
â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦â¦
8969 runs more in 196 innings with an average of 8969/196 = "45.76"
23 more 100's and 48 more 50's. Plus 59 more 6's.
In Details >
Bradman
NEEDS> Inns Runs Average 100 50 sixes
âââââ196_8969_45.76_23_48_59

So he needs to keep an average of 45.76 in those 196 innings to go ahead of Sachin. Sounds easy eh?
But he have to face lot of obstacles and new circumstances in those 196 innings. The same obstacles Sachin had to meet. So here are the advantages and disadvantages he will have .

ââDisadvantages (plenty)

1) He will have to play the same number of ODis that Sachin has played and have to keep the same average (or more) as Sachin. Minimum 45.16 average in 453 ODIs with 95 50's and 48 100's (or more). This is bcz Sachin averaged 56.25 in tests while having such a great record in ODIs. So Bradman has to do the same to level the playfield.

2) No more 8 ball overs or no any test matches lasting more than 5 days which certainly favored the batsmen in Bradman's days..

3) Now Bradman have to play world's greatest bowlers like Akram, Murali, Waqar, Walsh, Pollock, Malinga, Vaas, Zaheer, Kumble and many more. Not just some one like Harrald Lawood.

4) Bowlers will bowl using all the tools such as reverse swing which Bradman has never accustomed to.

5) Now Bradman have to play all his 196 innings outside Australia and England. He have to play in West Indies, Subcontinent, South Africa and many other various locations. So no more home doctored or accustomed conditions like in England or in his home Australia where he played most of his matches.

6) Now with the latest technology the batsmen have more chance of getting out by LBWs, Run outs and other ways. And also his opposite bowlers can figure out any of his weaknesses using the modern technology.

7) Have to hit 59 more sixes which will increase the chances of getting out.

8) No more free time between games. Got his work cut out like Sachin. A sheer busy schedule.

9) More competition between teams which will make it so difficult than the era he played.

ââAdvantages (Few)

1) No more uncovered pitches and the batsman can use helmets plus other safety equipments.

2) No more body-line bowling or dangerous field settings.

3) Just one bouncer allowed in an over.

You can add few more to those lists I guess.

So you see that he will have to face lot of obstacles and will have very few advantages. So can he keep the average of 45.76 under those circumstances to surpass Sachin and have the better record?

This thing will never happen in reality. So this is just a fantasy and an opinion based question. So what's your opinion. Will Sir Don Bradman fail or will he pass the test??????

Read carefully, take your time

I don't feel attractive, body hair?

crackkbbyy

I'm 19 and i'm very pale, lately i've started to notice that i have a lot of body hair like on my stomach and back, i know it's natural but i feel unattractive because of it and the fact that not all of it is blonde. What can i do about it?
I also have very sensitive skin so stuff like nair gives me allergic reactions.

What Men Want: Teeth More Important Than Hair, Clothes In Match.com Survey 2-7-13
The online dating site conducted a three-year study of over 5,000 single men and women and came up with a list of the top 10 things men judge women on. The least surprising news? Over half of the list was appearance-based. It makes sense -- women have seemed to adjust their getting-ready times accordingly, devoting 136 full days of their lives primping and preening for a night out, according to another 2008 survey.

EXAMPLE OF ONE FROM YA Poster, who've tried everything. . .
-WAXING: the wax usually irritates my sensitive skin. I used an organic wax once and it worked out much better than the regular one I used but it still didn't stop my skin from getting red & irritated.
-THREADING: this is an option that isn't as bad as the other things I have used. But I prefer not to do it unless it really is the only other option I have.
-SMOOTHAWAY: this is the little pink hair removing applicator. If you're not familiar with it, look it up on Google and you might get an idea as to what it is. I use Smoothaway when I don't have another option. But more often than not it irritates my skin and my skin turns red on the sides of my upper lip. And it makes it worse when I try to put my face lotion on.
-HAIR REMOVING CREAM: I used this a few times but this irritates my skin more than anything else I have ever used. My skin turns red and all that....

Sure. 61% of guys do't care about leg stubble.
Nope. 15%

Is there a limit on how tan some people can get?

Chelsea

I'm kind of pale and can burn easily at first if I don't wear spf, but once I get a base tan I won't really burn anymore. However, when I get that "base tan" it seems like I don't really get darker at all afterwards? Not even a sunburn or anything. So I was just curious if there is a limit on how tan a person can get?
Thanks, any answers are appreciated!

Answer
TAN OBSESSION: "When I see a woman with bronzed skin, I look at it the way you might picture the inside of a smoker's lungs," says Dr. Ellen Marmur, MD., associate professor of dermatology @ the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in NYC.

~ Glamour May 2012

Tanning comes & go, unless you do them everyday 24/7. But in the end the only thing you'll benefit is either moles, freckles, skin tags or discolorations from sunscreens, lotions, etc. and the more you do, the more they get larger, darker & bumpier, even skin diseases like Bullous Pemphegoid or Discoid Lupus. Like exercising, your muscles will sag, when suddenly you stopped, same with getting a tan, they will fade.

Tanning, is a result for 'damaged skin' and no products can reverse you from skin cancer or damaged skin, may prevent you from pre-mature aging, but that's part of the billion dollar beauty industry. To get super than you will have to be tanning for @ least 60 years, George Hamilton & Tom Jones are two examples, who ARE super tan! Google them.

Melanoma is the leading cause of death from skin disease. An estimated 76,259 new cases of skin cancer will be reported particularly among women in their 20's & 30's, and that's 6,020 more than 2011, people died from the disease, according to the National Cancer Institute. Two million people are diagnosed with skin cancer in the US each year, according to the EPA's Sun-Wise Program. That's more than breast, colon, lung and prostate cancer cases combine!

Lotions does not protect you from nasty, painful burns. Lotions does not protect you from skin cancer. Lotions does not protect you from skin diseases. Lotions does not protect you from discolorations - permanently. And lotions does not protect you from skin tags, freckles, moles, they will only get larger, darker, and bumpier as they are exposed from UV.

I've been protecting myself from the sun since age 9, but no matter, I got Discoid Lupus. Google that one. It was like someone punched my chin and it gave a purplish mark. Rolex or Hublot watch?

Yonkers

Which watch do you think is more class/stylish/expensive and just well better? Which do you prefer and why?

Answer
Some answers here are too subjective and give no reasons for their choices. Let's look at these two brands as objectively as possible by comparing some data about them that I find in my many watch magazines and almanacs. You can then have some basis for forming your own opinion.
HISTORY
Hans Wilsdorf began making watches in 1905. In 1908, he began using the name Rolex on his watches. The derivation of that name is uncertain.
Carlo Crocco founded Hublot in 1980. "Hublot" is French for "porthole" that the bezel resembles with its screws. Jean-Claude Biver who revived Blancpain in 1982 moved to Hublot in 2004 to become CEO.
EMPLOYEES & PRODUCTION
Rolex has over 2000 workers who produce almost 1,000,000 watches each year lately.
Hublot has about 150 workers who make 24,000 watches annually.
COLLECTIONS
Rolex offers mainly "Oyster Perpetual" automatic water-resistant sports watches and some "Cellini" dress watches.
Hublot offers "Classic", "Big Bang" and "King" lines.
MONEY SPENT ON ADS IN THE USA IN 2007
Rolex spent much more than any other company, i.e. $47,100,000. Breitling was a not so close second with $27,070,000. Hublot was 18th with $5,280,000 spent.
BASIC SPORTS WATCHES
$6300Sb, $9950S&Rb Rolex "O.P. Datejust" 4fa
$6900S, $10,900S&R Hublot "Classic Fusion" 4fa
DEEP DIVING WATCHES
$10,650Sb Rolex "O.P. Sea Dweller Deep Sea" 4fa 3900 meter diver
$19,000T Hublot "King Power Diver" 4fa 4000 meter diver
GOLD CHRONOGRAPHS
$27,650R Rolex "O.P. Cosmograph Daytona" 3fa-C (also $34,700Rb)
$27,900R Hublot "Classic Fusion Chrono" 4fa-C
MOST COMPLICATED MODELS
$27,650R Rolex "O.P. Cosmograph Daytona" 3fa-C (listed under Chronographs)
$375,000R&CF Hublot "King Power" 3fm-MR-T-C
SECOND MOST COMPLICATED MODELS
$25,150S&Rb Rolex "O.P. Yacht-Master II" 3fa with yacht regatta countdown
$195,000Z Hublot "King Power" 3fm-T-C
Well, what do you think? I say that Rolex is "hyped". Everyone hears about about it, since it spends far more money on ads than any other brand. It's not the costliest nor the best brand. My Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin dress watches cost over 3.5 times as much as a comparable Rolex, and they're worth it. The production figures show Rolex is mass-produced with each employee making 500 watches per year. Each Hublot employee produces 160 watches per year and thus works 3.125 times as long on each watch. Patek and Vacheron spend even more time on each watch. Rolex is hardly a major brand when it makes no watch more complicated than a chronograph. The most complicated wriswatch of all is Franck Muller's "Aeternitas Mega 4" -GS-MR-T-PC-CR with 1483 parts that costs $2,666,700P in 2012. I have written five editions of a book about "THE COSTLIEST WATCH BRANDS". Rolex places 46th costliest in 2012. It seems that Rolex is vastly over-rated. The top watch aficianados aren't impressed by it. I bought two Rolexes soon after I graduated from college, but now, I wear Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Cartier, IWC, Patek and Vacheron more often.
EDIT: Hasan is wrong to say Rolex is the best watch. It's good but not great. I own two Rolexes, but some of my other watches I've listed are better by far. A Jeager-LeCoultre "Master" sports watch is severely tested for 1000 hours while 1.4 Rolexes are made each day. Rolex is what I consider a bottom line Luxury Brand, since it's so much cheaper than the costliest brands. Lee Cameron a San Francisco watch repairman I know well likes Omega better than Rolex. Repairman Rolf Klotz from Germany also likes Omega very well.

I want to buy a Luminox Navy SEAL dive watch for my husband, there are few places but how can I know if real?

Arius

I saw a lot of different prices for that Luminox Navy SEAL Dive watch (Black Series 1 to be exact). But I don't want to end up getting a fake one with all that money I spent. How can you know if a watch is genuine or fake? Any tips and recommendations

Answer
If you are that concerned about purchasing a genuine watch then buy only from an Authorized Dealer they will be listed on the manufacturers website. Javy is right at the $100-$200 dollar price level you usually don't have to worry about it being counterfeit ;) (That watch is widely available and can be purchased brand new in the box for around $150)

If you would like to get your husband a "real" dive watch consider the OMEGA Seamaster Chronometer (James Bond's watch from the 007 movies) it has a retail of about $2000 but it can be purchased brand new in the box for around $1300. This may seem like a luxury purchase but consider the fact that the OMEGA is an heirloom quality Certified Swiss Chronometer (just like a Rolex) that can be passed down from generation to generation, never needs a battery (Automatic Self-Winding Mechanical Movement) and unlike a $200 dive watch, will only go up in price as the years go by. So over time you not only have a functional work of art and a world-class timepiece but an investment that will increase in value the longer you own it!

Family life in the 1950's?

patricia d

Essential Question How did the aftermath of World War II effect the family roles in a 1950's household and in society?

I'm writing a research paper on this topic, I have a lot of idea but i was wondering if anyone could give me link to first hand accounts or just general information about life in the 1950's

direct answers to the question would be great to!!
focusing mostly on American middle class( focusing on other classes would be great to.. but i have a maximum of 7 pages..)

Answer
Summary of Culture and Life in the 1950's...............................

The 1950's represent a variety of things to many different people. It was a time of
growth, capitalism, conservatism, and anticommunism. With the baby boom in full swing,
suburbs were appearing near large cities. Highways were being constructed to connect suburbs
to each other across the nation. They also connected the nuclear family to vacation spots and to
the rest of their extended family. Capitalism grew as world powers including the United States
and the United Kingdom tried to defeat communism. Anticommunism lead to the conflict in
Korea as well as McCarthyism, which cost many people their jobs. The cold war, fueled by
communism, had new fronts to be fought and weapons to potentially be used. The first
American satellite to orbit the earth, named Explorer 1, came near the end of the decade.
Eisenhower, elected president in 1953 and 1957, helped promote the field of nuclear technology,
leading to American school children being taught to hide under desks in case of an attack and
adults building shelters in their backyards.1
Life was not all about fear however. Restrictions on products available were lifted,
some more quickly than others, depending on the country's recovery rate from World War II.2
This was also the time of Elvis and rock'n'roll, James Dean and Marlon Brando, and sex symbols
Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot. Elizabeth II was coronated Queen of England in 1953,
nearly 400 years after the first Queen Elizabeth. The first jet liner carrying passengers took
flight in 1958.3 Alaska and Hawaii became states in 1959, and public schools across the nation
became desegregated. And who could resist flying saucer watching? Teens became their own
subgroup, and with a pre-cursor to MTV, American Bandstand became a popular TV show.
Kitchen appliances were appearing in pastel colors, and aerial TVs were in just about every
home4.
Along with the changes in the rest of life in the 1950's, fashion was undergoing many
of its own changes, and was greatly influenced by things like music and movie idols. Having
style quite often meant taking luxury to extremes.5 Couture of the early fifties included a
batwinged peplum with an easily detachable trained overskirt, a cocktail dress with a corolla
bosom, the color shocking pink, and designs by the American Charles James.6 Designs by Dior
included âen vol,â a double apron day dress, hugely bloused tops in the style of an artist's smock,
very tight skirts, and Peter Pan collars. Balenciaga and Balmain were other Parisian couture
designers. These designersâ styles were modified for the average woman. Other styles included
pinafore dresses with polo neck jumpers or for secretaries, crisp, white blouses, and somewhat
sensible shoes. A black leotard with a long circular skirt and stole, and corduroy smock and
knickerbockers suit were also popular styles. People in the art community preferred baggy
clothes, such as raincoats and over-sized sweaters, and suits, pressed or wrinkled. Men's evening
clothes did not experience many changes. Men's outerwear did experience a few changes; theâbikerâ look came into style, as well as double breasted suits with theatrical cloaks, and a tighter
version of the Edwardian frock coat.
Hairstyles in this time were also changing. Chemical hair treatments were available for
use at home, but they were not entirely safe and so many women went to professional
hairstylists.7 Women had to get their hair cut and permed at six to seven week intervals, with
washing and setting once every week to week and a half by the hairdresser. Girls wore rollers
and hairnets to bed at night. They also pulled their hair back with a band of velvet during the
daytime. Men wore their hair short, as long hair was âunmanly.â
The late fifties was the time of teenagers. They now had jobs and therefore money to
spend, giving them more power to dictate popular styles8. Girls wore buttoned cardigans and
simples skirts or pinafore dresses with stockings and stilettos. Some girls wore tight trousers and
ballet shoes, since high heels were not considered appropriate with that style. Summer clothes
included cotton skirts with layered petticoats. Leisure clothes were typically jeans know as
âdungareesâ or pedal pusher capris, also known as pirate pants, with a shirt of some kind,
sometimes a man's shirt.9 For formal events, girls dressed like adults. For informal events, they
quite often wore what became known as poodle skirts, consisting of wool felt with large hems
and appliqués, with a high waisted belt, a tight fitting blouse tucked in, and high heels. Boys had
choices including Italian jackets, fluorescent socks, leather jackets, jeans, shaggy sweaters, and
sandals.10 If a young man wanted to deviate from the norm, darker colors, rougher textures, and
crumpled clothes would get peoples' attention.11 One example of this was the Teddy Boys; they
were seen as anti-social for being non-conformist.
Fashion was suddenly going backwards, no longer starting in Paris. Another change
was mass production.12 During the Second World War, clothes manufactures had found ways to
produce more clothes faster and cheaper, and this continued after the war, allowing mass
production for the general public to replace custom made clothing. This caused Parisian fashion
houses to start working with mass retailers and at the same time started the idea of âplanned
obsolescence,â meaning twice a year, the previous season's styles were to be replaced with the
new season's styles. In order to protect their styles at fashion shows, everything from cameras to
sketchbooks were banned. Fabric and fiber availability increased as well; synthetics greatly
expanded choices, and this allowed advances in leisure wear, underwear, and sportswear, among
others. Men's dress changed in that vests, hats, and suspenders decreased in popularity, while
belts, zippers, and cardigans gained popularity. Men working in an office typically wore a suit,
known widely as âthe gray flannel suit,â although it was not always gray flannel; in 1950 Pierre
Cardin designed a suit of stripped cotton. Leisure clothes were changing from military looking
to colorful, comfortable sweaters, poplin shirts, and slip-on shoes. Popular women's styles were
still influenced by Dior, Jaques Griffe, and Marion.13 They included day suits, trapeze dresses, a
return to the twenties' hobbled day dresses, and day dresses with stiff white collars, wide belts, box pleats at the waist, and skirts with a bounce. Coco Channel was another designer, however
she designed clothes for women in the real world with ease, comfort and practicality.14 Her look
included straight skirts, sometimes with box pleats, a single breasted cardigan, sometimes with
lapels, braid and ribbon trims in contrasting colors, and blouses with pussycat bows. Her
thoughts were âFashion fades; only style remains the same.â With the baby boom came the
appearance of maternity clothes.15 It was now a possibility to be pregnant and be in style. The
ideal image of a woman at this time was a housewife, although many photographs indicate the
woman should look like a doll, complete with a heart shaped apron, and was always covered in
frills.16 If the woman had to work outside the home, she wore trim closely fitted close similar to
an airline stewardess, in high heels, emphasizing fragility and curves. Social entertainment dress
was âswan-neckedâ and âsoft shoulderedâ with a ârustling taffeta skirt, shimmering silks,â or
âpastel nylon net decorated with lace, ribbons and sequins.â Parts of dress not thought of often
include corsets, brassieres, nylon hose, and make-up. Corsets still held their place in a woman's
wardrobe, as the ideal body figure was the figure eight hourglass shape, to attract a man for
marriage. Strapless brassieres were becoming more important, since dresses were being
designed without straps as well. Nylon hose improved in fineness, cost, and shape. This may
have led to skirt length shortening, from lower calf to above the knee. Movie make-up artists
took advantage of the release of restrictions to encourage women to wear a light coating of rouge
and eye shadow, liquid eyeliner, and large amounts of mascara, but lipstick was the most
important part.
Summary of Interview with Dianna Dutka
According to Dianna, the styles that were most popular for females were knee length felt skirts,
cashmere cardigans, bobby socks with black and white saddle shoes or high heels, dresses with

Do you judge people on the clothes they wear?

Roumoun

Are you turned on by people who claim to have a superior dressing sense?

Why do people disparage others because of their clothes?

Answer
Hi Maddy, for me it is not so much about being "turned on" by those who dress well, but more about being "turned off" by those who don't. I fully understand many people are very poor, and I have been that poor myself, so folks who lack funds are not going to be able to dress as well as they might like. It is not folks who have difficulty purchasing decent clothing, but rather those who do, but choose not to.

It is human nature to judge others, and while I do try hard to see a person for who they are and not for the package they are in, it sometimes is difficult when a person who chooses to seperate him or herself from the crowd by dressing in negitive manners. Many of us here in the United States like to lay claim to not having "classes". However, this is simply not true. In other answers to question(s) you put forth, we spoke a bit about this. About how we have failed to achieve a "classless" society. We can all tell if somebody is of "our class" by how an individual dresses and comports oneself. If I walked into a fine resteraunt in my jeans and a nice blouse and sandles, (my usual dress of choice) I would be frowned upon by the patrons and probably expelled from the establishment. The excuse would be I did not meet the dress requirements, but the real reason would be they clearly see I am not of that class who frequents that particular establishment. Once, my deceased husband took me to a very nice resteraunt, one which catered to more affluant folks. I did not object as he was proud to take me to this nice place, it was a treat he had planned for a while. However, I was very conscience of the disaproving looks and the snooty attitude of our waiter. We stayed and had a nice meal, but it was difficult to actually enjoy it. My dear husband was oblivious to the under currents and I kept him there as it would only have hurt him to think I felf undeserving of eating at a particular place. Men seem a bit less sensitive to such social barriers, but women are right on top of them. Why this is true simply goes to the way we are raised, to recognize the needs of those around us and to try to meet them.

I do have to say I don't actually care for the "upper" levels of society here in this country or any Western culture. If we were to become wealthy I and my husband would not feel "part" of those who have "old" money. We also would not feel "part" of others who had "new" money and enjoy flashing it around by making large purchases and wearing expensive jewlery, etc. Those who are new to wealth tend to flash, while those who were born wealthy live rather understated, but in luxury. I watch some of those "fashion" shows and am appalled at some of the clothing offered for thousands of dollars. I wouldn't be caught dead in many of those outfits! I remember an episode of "I Love Lucy", where they were in Paris and Lucy and her friend despertly wanted a "designer" dress. Well, Ricky and Fred went out and got some flour sacks, a couple of buckets for hats, and made "designer" dresses for the "girls". Of course this was to teach them a lesson of falling into the fashion debacles. When the "girls" opened boxes seemingly from a famous designer, they were wowed, and put on these rediculous made up atrocious dresses and went out like they were some snooty snobby rich women in designer clothing. Of course they were laughed at and humiliated, and everyone watching the show thought it funny.

I however thought it horrid husbands would treat wifes like children. While the I Love Lucy show is from a different time, (thank God!) it still goes to the heart of class and wealth and how people judge by looks, clothing and attitudes. Living in the most highest class of this country means disembling and lying about how one feels about others. People are sweet and accepting to your face, but while smiling they tear you apart with barbs and quips meant to hurt and maim. I simply am unable to tolerate such behavior and so I would stand out as an outsider in such a crowd. I would also be a priime victem of such behaviors as with me what you see is what you get, there is not an ounce of subterfuge or dishonesty about me. I am judged because I am unable to lie or be dishonest. People just don't know how to take me and so are suspicious of me. They simply have trouble believing I don't have any hidden motives or agendas with them. I understand, but it is difficult to find good friends who are able to give back at the level I give. My children are in the same predictiment as they were raised to be kind and honest, not decietful or mean spirited, or selfish.

I sure do get off track don't I? lol Anyway, sure we all judge others by how they dress. It can go both ways though, judged for dressing too poorly for the class you are in, or for dressing to flashy for the class your weath puts you in. If a person wishes to really "belong" he or she has to make a decison to comform. Only the richest folks are able to be truely different and get away with it. Instead of being weird or lacking in some manner they are labled, "quirky", or "eccentric", and everybody chuckles with fond amusement, rather than in any negitive manner. However, if you or I do the same, we are judged negitively, right or wrong it is a fact of life.

I choose to not comform, and as such I pay a price. It was once an unconscience choice, one I just felt right, and the price then was hurt feelings and feeling of not belonging. However, as I grew older I began to understand exactly what I would be giving up if I choose to comfrom. Happiness can be very allusive for those who choose to comform. Comforming may bring materialistic items by gaining social acceptance and increasing ones power by climbing the corperate and social ladders, but it stiffles who the person really is. When we are stiffled how can we truly be happy?

The children who take the road their folks laid out for them may do well in life finacially but often will be unhappy as it is not the road they may have chosen for themselves. Clothing is a part of that as well as how one conducts oneself. We are groomed from childhood and that demarks who we are for the rest of our lives unless we make a conscience decison to buck the rules and expectations of those around us. By doing this we will pay a price, but for me it is a price I am willing to pay. Happiness if far more important to me than wealth or dressing in the newest designer clothing, or having the latest electronic gadgets, or driving a brand new Lexus every two years, or having a house I need a maid or two to care for, etc. There are websites all over which depict wealthy but unhappy spouses who are searching for extramarital affairs. The Eagles song, "Lying Eyes", about the young woman who married for wealth and went out to the poorer section of town for love really outlines this situation.

Anyway, sure people judge others by how they dress and yes some are turned on by those in flashy clothing, and fancy cars. However, it represents a lie: there may be comforts and security in weatlh, but it doesn't mean there will be happiness. However, we will continue to judge others by their appearance, regardless of how much we know this is wrong and unfair. We mean well, we really do, however, those first ten seconds of meeting somebody is the lasting impression we take with us. If we don't put forward our best in those first ten seconds we will be relegated to a lower class. How we dress and grooom ourselves is vital when we wish to make a good impression. For example: If a boy were to come to pick your daughter up for a date and he had on black leather and boots and drove up on a Harly, would you really want your child leaving with him? He could be the nicest person around and be wonderful to her, but the first impression is one of danger and one who bucks society. Then again, if he showed up dressed in nice slacks, in his fathers lexus, or BMW, brought flowers, and spoke well, was polite, came to the door, the likelihood of a father feeling relief is huge. The young man could have simply changed prior to coming to pick his girl up, and still be exactly the same guy on the bike a few hours ago. We can shed and put on new skin at any moment, purposely disguising who we really are. We use clothing, attitudes, etc, as masks, and most people wear masks.

Even knowing this truth, we still fall into that first ten second judgement of any person we first meet. First impressions last a very long time and are difficult to shed once it is established. If that same young man who was dressed well, spoke well, polite, later drove up on that bike in leather and boots, that first impression would be juxaposed on top and still viable. He could then get away with being who he really is as long as he pulls out his first impression getup every so often. There are many who have perfected the art of first impressions while hiding who they truely are. These folks have agendas we may not like the affects of and many are grifters. There are those who have refined the art so well they can merge with one crowd after another and nobody would know the difference. Look at undercover cops who get down into the underbelly of society, then come home to the wife and children. They are affective at what they do, and it is needed, but it shows how we need to really take care in how we allow that moment of first impression to affect our judgement.

Well, again, a question which is seemingly simple, but is quiet complex. You are very good at these types of question, Maddy! lol I tend to think a lot, and as such can over do a subject. I often found it difficult in school to keep my term papers on topic, as one easily leads to a connecting topic, which leads to a next, then to another and so on and so forth. Each componant is related, but can take me on a journey far supassing the original subject. lol

Like anybody else, I have a "normal" dress style, but still enjoy "dressing up". I have several very nice dresses and all the related items, and enjoy the looks I get when I wear one of these outfits. However, I still am a jeans and blouse Lady, who is from the country, and this is what is presented in daily life. I also enjoy wearing nice feminine suites, but am not particulary comfortable in them. I am most comfortable and feel more myself in my jeans, nice blouse, and sneakers, or cute sandels. If somebody wishes to judge me so be it. lol I am old enough to not really care that much for what others think, and that is very freeing. Oh, I still care about my loved ones opinions and I hate being looked down upon, but the freedom of just being me is well worth it, don't you agree? My husband seems to think I am something special and I think he has on rose colored glasses. Then again, I think he is somebody special and he thinks I have on rose colored glasses. My point is I find people the most attractive who are decent human beings with honor, integrity, ethics, kindness, etc, but don't know just how great they are. Once somebody "knows" they are great, then they get a big head and simply lose that element of uniqueness. Once somebody starts believing they are truly something special, well they lose that special quality. It is in the lack of knowlege that I find so sweet and compelling. A person can have a high level of self esteem and confidence and yet not have a "big head" and that is the most attractive quality for me. It is the person who has a solid foundation of who they are, what they believe in while keeping an open mind, which is attractive. We can have a strong belief sysem and yet know our way is not the only way. Take off the outer layers and what is left? When we grow old, and our looks are fading, what is left? It is that what is left I find attractive, if indeed anything is left after the outer layers are removed. Worse: If ugliness is what is left. I have seen many beautiful people who are hollow at best, and ugly and mean at worst.

Well, I believe we are all guilty of judging others by what they wear and how they conduct themselves. I think many try not to engage in such low behavior, but it is human nature and difficult to control. We may refrain from speaking of it when we do it, but we still leave with that first impression and it stays with us. It is not just clothes either, but the color of ones skin, the car they drive, the color they choose to pain their homes, or rooms, how they decorate, what they eat, what they buy. I know folks who say they can tell by what is in a grocery cart what a person is like, or what is in their bathroom cupboards. Yep, some folks actually make an excuse to use your bathroom just so they can snoop and make judgements about who you are! So, yeah, this is a huge topic, one we could discuss for hours and still not exhaust. But I had better but my own chatter to an end. lol

I wish you a grand day and a wonderful upcoming weekend.

Luxury ( or HIGH END) Affiliate Programs available?

westphalia

Most of the affiliate programs i looked at all have stuff for sale that is not interesting. All cheap stuff. Arent there any affiliate sales programs with companies that offer extremely high commissions? Like Yachts, Ships, planes, construction machines, expensive jewlry??

Answer
High end products don't offer affiliate programs because that's not how they sell and that's not how they reach their target audience. Plus they are highly protective of who sells their products (product distribution)

Buyers of Bugatti Enzo, for example, will not buy their Bugatti via a no-name online store. That's not how the rich buys Bugatti.

Christensen Custom 157s yachts at $24 million per are sold via contracts, before they are even made.

The only "high end" you can go are through Amazon Associates program and select their most expensive products (they've got Rolex and Omega watches)

Buying a Rolex? 10 points?

The_Beast

I want to buy the Rolex Air King as my first "Luxury" watch. Its pretty spendy, ive called around and prices in stores are $4800-5000. I noticed online was slightly cheaper. Should i buy from a reputable store, or would it be smarter to shop online?
Thanks in advance

Answer
Great question. All new Rolex watches are only sold through authorized Rolex dealers. They are typically watch or jewelry stores in shopping malls and almost exclusively sell new watches at full retail prices. The current model retails for $5050 with the smooth bezel ( model #114200) so your research is spot on. As for buying it online, absolutely. There are plenty of reputable online resellers that offer free shipping and you might even save on sales tax. Google does a great job of listing all the dealers, just google "Rolex Air King" and then click "shopping" to see all the Google merchants who carry the model along with the price. Its easy. And most offer a 3 day full refund return policy. You can save even more money by purchasing a used, or pre-owned Rolex as opposed to a new one. Those can be had for much less money: just $2795 at http://www.bobswatches.com/mens-rolex-air-king-stainless-steel-14000-pre-owned.html If you want a brand new Rolex, they will also be listed in Google shopping.

Yes, we provide authentic, luxury watches. Our watches are brand new, never worn and with original factory parts. You can learn more about our products and policies at http://www.thewatchery.com/about.asp?d=0

Why do us women complain about equality when?

Q. It's amazing how someone can be so eloquent, yet make no sense absolutely. I am not anti-feminine, but maybe anti-feminist to a degree, a degree to where it has become unbalanced. It is not equal. Were you ever bullied in school; boys are physically bullied all the time by dominance? Us women constantly have the road paved for them for success, and in the area of help. Look at all the shelters for women, the privileges, rights, and benefits. You know how hard it is for men to get a grant for school? Probably not! But for women, grants are a dime a dozen. Did you ever have to sign selective service papers that force you into military service during time of wary, until you were the age of 28. Did you ever have to worry about a possible draft? Would you get denied a college grant, the common Pell Grant, if you didn't sign SS papers? Nope! If you join the military, do you get more time in the bathroom, yes; do you have to see combat..nope! But do you get the same pay and benefits as the men who do see combat mandatorily? Why, yes you do? Do people extend helping hands to women who are in trouble and need, even until old age in America? Why yes! Does the same thing exist for men? Nope! Do you have the option to sell your bodies for money, yeesss... Can a man do the same thing, or is he doomed to working with his mind or his hands, or doing something illegal like selling dope, or going to jail or ending up on the street? Do you have to go after your future dates, or future husband, or do you wait for him to risk getting possibly rejected, to have a relationship? So don't mention relationships to me either. Maybe men don't wanna be rejected; men don't have the luxury of never having to be rejected in front of everyone, if I wanna get with a woman.

I'm a woman and I agree with this.
The abortion thing is out of line; you should be responsible as a women when having sex. There is enough contraception, protection, and everything else, and abstinence as well. If you can't prove your were raped or something of that order, you should not be allowed to kill off a fetus that will eventually become a human being. This is not difficult. Men have to pay childsupport. That's difficult.

Answer
It saddens me to see the first two responses. I for one thank you for your honesty. just yesterday I watched Oprah for the first time ever. She was doing a show on women who served in Iraq and were in the midst of a divorce.
One woman was gone for 18 months while her husband stayed home and worked and cared for the children. She came home and eventually regained custody of her children because she had been serving her country. I ( being a disabled veteran ) was sickened to think of all the men who have gone to serve their country while their wives stayed home, had affairs, divorced their husbands, and took their children I can easily accept that life is what it is but to think that the shoe is now on the other foot, and these women were not drafted, and their is such public support for the plight of these women is just ridiculous. These women like many men, made their choices but do not want to live with the consequences and Oprah is there to make sure that they don't have to.
Women want to know where all the good men are and to that I say, they are hiding from the possibility of supporting and loving a woman who has their children and then takes the children, the house and child support while she goes on to enjoy all that he has given and will continue to contribute
I say a little honesty, Little decency, and a little respect going both ways, goes a long way, but it will never happen. I now look at getting married as no more than a way to gamble away my house and my security.
Thanks for your question. Good Luck in your honesty.
