I need a new laptop. I really only use mine to browse the internet, watch shows online and occaisonally type a paper. Any suggestions on what type to get?

For the price range $500-$800 be on that lookout for a 500Gb-1Tb hard drive. Try for 3.2 or more GHz of processor dual or quad preferably i3 or i5. When you buy a 'luxury' computer, $900-$1200, look for the best. The best is: 1-2 TB solid state drive and a 500+GB hard drive. 3.5-4+ GHz quad core, nothing short. Or go with i7 only. Full HD 1080p 17 inch monitor. Numeric keys onboard. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The basic rule of thumb is: the closer you aspire to get a computer that matches the 'luxury' specs for lowest price, the better off you are. Another rule is 'numbers only go up': essentially stating that the higher the number on any given spec (with only exeption being the price :) ), the better the computer is. Have fun and avoid Macintosh. Reason being: they essentially give you the power and specs that every other company gives for a little more price, and in the end offer you less customizability and a more rigid fixed operating system.
