luxury watches for dummies image

I'm not hating or anything, but in recent times I have noticed that when businesses advertise their goods to people they mainly target young people. Expensive clothes and unnecessary small things are shown and these ads keep telling us the same messages "You are nothing until you have this look, this house, this phone, etc.." and I'm surprised some people have fallen prey. The effects of these adverts and statements, I believed have reshaped people's mindsets and things in many societies today have gone Topsy turvy.
A classmate of mine said to me, ' I can see by the way your appearance is that you lack self confidence'.. And as you can imagine she is the type of girl that splurges on heavy lipstick and overdressing for school, and somewhat thinks she is a nice person for being concerned. Um. ok.. Obvious reasons I don't dress that way are 1, I can't afford that because I am a student and rather spend money on books, 2. I feel overdressed for classes and I have no one on campus to impress and I'm not some model at a photo shoot, 3. I think it's what's on the inside that counts and I don't like people who look down on me just because of the way I dress. Take that garb off from yourself and what are you now huh? People want to judge you on what you wear and want to tell you what is wrong with what you bought and say things like 'ermaghard, what is she wearing?' Clothes, you dummies, something to cover up and allow me to go through the day and not make me feel embarrassed of myself. Who asked for your opinion anyways, you twit!?
Moving on on this craziness we find ourselves in, why do people let minor things define them? I a have realized that it makes them more stupid. Why isn't anyone doing anything about this? Why are we letting media full on war in driving us mad to make us buy their stuff go on? it's ruining us, I feel. It's changing cultures and the sense of humanity we once had for a zombie-like society driven to become mad with hate and maliciousness.
Please watch this video also and tell me what you also think about this..

Because they can.Seems like a silly answer but true, it's their choice.Yes it is blatantly obvious the materialistic life we are living currently.Society has changed dramatically since post WW11.Perhaps it's the comfort after the trauma perspective. The main thing is what you choose to do and live by it.

I am working on an Arguementative Paper.... the question.... To what magnitude does advertisement create needs?
Teekie
My working thesis... Successful ads draws its influence from skillful appeals for the purpose of our need to satisfy the urges within; advertisements create a magnitude of needs in consumers by appealing to the need for affliation, achievement, attention and prominence.
My struggle is I can not find arguments against these needs. I have also completed an rough outline (which the instructor requested)but I do not feel that it is appropriate because I can't find information to argue against. Just thought I would put it out there maybe I could get a view ideas on where to go.
I will attempt to put my outline up but I do not think all of it will fit.
I. Appealing to the Need of Affliation
. Definition
. Desiring to be in good company
.Romance
(they are okay but I do not know where to go for arguements against these types of needs)
II.Appealing to the need of Achievement
.Definition
.Use of Sports Heroes
(same problem as #1)
. Use of superlatives
III.Appealing to the Need of Attention
.Definition
.Clothing Advertisements
IV. Appealing to the Need of Prominence
.Luxury Car, Tv and Commercial Ads
.Commercials with high profile Entertainers
I know this isn't the best outline but I really am struggling with this question as an arguement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Wow. If I can read into this, I will try to be simple from me. You go girl, and keep on keeping on.
People will do whatever it takes to fit in and be accepted. Spending money they don't have, to stealing, even cheating in life to be a part of whatever the flow is, from business to pleasure. Sport heroes, which are kinda stuck on themselves anyway. They use their $$$$ and physical appearance to catch the attention of the public, especially women. Then there are the women who think because the outfit looks good on the dummy, the dummy thinks it will look good on them as well. And my oh my, there are those who don't have a pot to piss in but will lease the best to fit in with the rest. The good old act as if, for others to believe you are part of. Break these down to the smallest details and watch people.
